I've always felt his price to be a fair one for the work involved. We first used him to remove and trim a couple of trees. Next we used his services and connections with area nurseries to find and plant all our replacement trees. We then used him for a general landscaping job of our front yard where we came up with a design while he and his crew did all the hardscape and planting work (again locating the right shrub for the design). And lastly, we needed him once more when one of our trees blew down in those wind storms a month ago. Each time his crew has done a great job with the work and cleanup. Just kidding. :) It…read morewasn't actually that fast, but for a complete lawn renovation including sprinkler installation it was pretty much like magic; it was so fast. Our lawn was dangerously tragic. Completely devoid of happy grass, and full of crab grass and incoming foxtails. We have a cuddly dog that runs freely around the backyard; thus the dangerous lawn description, 'cause those foxtails are super bad for pets! Initially we thought we would try and fix up the grass ourselves, but when we realized how much work it would take to revamp and squash the weeds correctly, we decided to go to a professional. It's tough finding a trustworthy legitimate business to work on a large and potentially expensive project like this. No worried though, because they are a licensed contractor for landscaping, in addition to being a member of the Better Business Bureau. Originally, we thought to just get the lawn done, and then set up an above ground sprinkler hose system on our own, but Brian explained that installing a sprinkler system wouldn't be that much more money. Truthfully I don't know much about landscaping, and Brian was great with suggestions. He explained how the whole process would work, and we were very comfortable with him. We asked if we could get everything in writing, and he took the time to write everything down with prices right there. Someone came out to spray to kill off the weeds on a Monday. A week later, on the next Monday, work began, and VOILA!!!, everything was done (new lawn and complete sprinkler system, which included wiring underneath our house into the garage for the timer box) Wednesday late morning. Seriously, it was way fast: two and half days!!! It's a family business, so Brian's brother was onsite completing the work as well. The crew came in wearing Green Grass polos, so you knew they weren't random people coming into your yard. They did a fabulous job! They cleared out so many weeds in our yard, including some bordering areas that were not going to be covered by sod. It made for a much cleaner look. They were very self sufficient, in that they moved items around in our backyard (e.g., furniture, planters), including patio stones for the sprinkler system, and returned everything in good shape. We didn't have to do anything, and there was no mess for us afterwards. It's been two weeks and the lawn looks amazing! I'm so glad Brian suggested the sprinkler system, because it's efficient and we don't have to do anything! In hindsight it would have been somewhat of a pain for us if we had gone the above ground sprinkler system route we were thinking of doing. The hoses would have been an eyesore, and I don't think we would have obtained a complete coverage area that the underground sprinkler system does. We had a few questions regarding lawn maintenance afterwards and Brian was very responsive. We are actually signing up for Green Grass's lawn care program as well (fertilizing and weed prevention). We love the new lawn! My dog loves the new lawn! Hooray for us! If you're looking for a miracle or even just some touchups for your lawn, I would definitely check out Green Grass!!

I was apprehensive at first at using Green Grass but, Brian had a great perception of what could be done, and I agreed to do a minimal part of the job. To my relief the paver crew led by Carlos did a great job on the initial project and I agreed to expanding the project to the paver over the concrete front porch and a area for the recycle, organic and garbage containers. With the realignment of the front walk way Jason who was responsible for redoing the lawn and sprinklers created a planter area of low level flowering shrubs and plants. To summarize I read their reviews on Yelp and had some concerns and started out with a minimal plan. They (Brian, Carlos and Jason) as the leads proved to me that they had the capability and experience to deliver what I had imagined doing someday. It cost me more than I originally planned at this time, but I was the one who was encouraged to complete the whole landscaping project now. I'm very pleased how the project turned out and would use Green Grass again.

I have even added 2 raised veggie garden beds and replaced all the dead/barren spots around the new turf with flowering plants on a drip/bubble above ground system. Very timely for the new San Jose Water Dept watering guidelines! Our back yard had been a waste of water for over ten years; the only thing I could grow were weeds and 2-inch rocks. Especially prolific were weeds with "burs" that stuck into everything (bike tires & inflatable water slides) feet (grandkids who went outback barefoot) and pets (a puppy with a very curious nose/snout). I began researching Astro/aka Synthetic turf products in late winter. I self-educated on the web, so I knew what questions to ask of potential vendors. I interview 3 companies and picked up a few more important details - that the web did not teach me. I settled on Eddie the salesman with Proscaping Inc. and after a few back and forths I was under contract with ALL details we agreed to clearly spelled out. FYI, They were the middle-priced vendor. I was lucky and got a mid-June starting time; Eddie was there onsite at all the key points on the installation timeline. Though slightly under 1,000 sq ft it was a pretty big job. Almaden Valley is known to be nothing by clay and rocks! 5 Stars and a BIG THANKS to Eddie and the Proscaping Team! (I will try to edit this text to add some photos)

Because of my parents' referral I had Matt work on my sprinkler system. He met me in a timely manner in the winter and redid my sprinkler valves while I was at work. Once I started turning on my sprinklers after the rainy season ended I realized half my sprinklers (3 of the 6) sets/valves didn't work. I have tried contacting Matt for almost 3 months now and he is yet to schedule a time to come out and fix the job. He responded once saying that he is really busy and would come that weekend. Needless to say, I had a house, that I had no idea how the sprinkler system was set up, and I have never had any previous experience with irrigation systems, nor did my husband. I saw his company listed on Yahoo! by someone else in a similar situation as mine and they had great things to say, so I gave him a call. I have used his services about 6 times thus far, as we have sorted out the existing problems, replacing the antiquated controllers, and adjusted areas to our liking. His knowledge of irrigation systems is fantastic. He is also a great resource when it comes to plants and the various species. I enjoy having him around and always find myself gardening while he is working and when I find a weed, plant, or bug that I don't know what it is, I laughingly go up to him and ask what it is. I haven't been able to stump him yet! Gregg is a one man show, and yes, his schedule is highly dependent upon weather, and the difficulty of the work. What I like most about his style is that if there is some of the work that the client can easily do, he will gladly explain to you what needs to be done (ie: lots of digging to prep the area, or setting up the tubing and emitters after he put in the heads). He is not the cheapest route to go, but he is quality and honest. He will even recommend local stores or online stores so that you can buy some of your own equipment or supplies. He has an extensive knowledge of various products over the years and knows the pros and cons of things so can help you make an informed decision on how to do things. He is especially keen on efficient systems and native/drought tolerant designs. He has been late on a couple occasions but has let me know ahead of time, and it didn't bother me none since I am home all day anyways and his reasons were more than adequate. It goes with this sort of business, as the weather is not always cooperative, and time needed is hard to anticipate when it comes to troubleshooting and running into unforeseen problems. I will definitely continue to use him for all my irrigation system needs and have been very happy with all of his work thus far and enjoy having him as a resource for questions and recommendations. I even got quotes from him for my next door neighbor so we could get this work done all at once. We had to remove our dead pine tree that has been with us since we moved into this house in the late 80's. It was so sad to see the tree go... Jorge's crew arrived at the scheduled time and went straight to work starting with our tree. I watched as they systematically removed all the branches. Then, section by section the worker cut down the trunk. The crew was attentive, safe and efficient with their process. While one chainsaw was being used, the other was being cleaned and refueled. After the tree was more or less cut down, they rolled in the stump grinder and ground down what was left of the stump. They wasted no time. In less than an hour, they moved on to my neighbor's two skinnier trees and cut them down in the same fashion, lastly removing all the thorny rose bushes too. There was debris everywhere! Since they were almost done, I went into the house to grab my checkbook to pay Jorge. When I came out, his grew was gone and all the debris was cleaned up. It was as if nothing had happened. MAGIC.
