The supermarket is just ok, no bells and whistles. Has basic produce, Bakery items inside Isles, you would expect. The supermarket however, is not huge so it is not my preferred location to shop at and I also find it slightly expensive. But if you are in a bind a few staple items, this will suit your need. read more

This is my last resort super market because of its close proximity to my home. I went in for 1 thing yesterday and was talked to so rudely and obnoxiously by the deli guy for no reason. He had to be called from wherever he was to help me after waiting at an an empty counter for about 5 minutes and he was not happy. I did have some words with him and just walked out, it's not worth it for the quality or price of the food and it's certainly not worth being treated like an inconvenience. read more

This is one of the worst supermarkets I have ever purchased things at. Their produce is horrible. I could probably buy better produce at the dollar store. I just purchased some peppers half of them were rotten inside and they were not cheap. I hope the managers or owners of Acme see these reviews, because the quality of their ground beef is horrific produces terrible and the prices of all their items are ridiculously high. I would not recommend the Allendale Acme. You better off going to ShopRite you get fresh produce and better prices. read more

This review solely pertains to the liquor store portion. The food part is ok and good to pick up a few times (even if it is expensive). While the regular store is expensive, it's within reason. Attempted to buy some beer/wine for a Christmas party I am having and had sticker shock. The prices are beyond ridiculous. I was going to buy 3 moderately priced bottles of wine and 24 beers. Not a huge order, but it would have been a $50+ premium vs any other local liquor store. Just a completely worthless section of the store. Waste of time to have to go to yet another store in the mad rush of people trying to get things done on Dec 23. read more

Hours are wrong on both Apple Maps and Google. On Google, it even states it was confirmed 12 weeks ago that they're open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., which is false. Allendale ACME needs to ensure they're updating their hours on the navigation apps and not just with their automated answering system. read more

I used to shop here because its close to my home but they run out of items and things are in the wrong shelf spot in the water and drinks isle so you don't know what costs what it a ploy to get people to pay a higher price things are not always fresh and the prices are higher the other stores in the area. This is the supermarket I used being that it's so close. I first discovered acme one year by mistake and was pleasantly surprised with the sales they have during holidays. It's great! During the pandemic they always kept on top of cleanliness and making sure their staff were well protected. I like the fact that they do not discriminate against people with special needs and give them employment opportunities. Their prices are higher than shop rite, however they are Convenient and far less crowded than the shop rite by me gets. The staff is very helpful when ever you need them. read more

As they say let's start with the positives. A clean store that is never super crowded with a liquor department. I can always come here and grab a few essentials and be out in 5 minutes. Now the negatives, this place is more expensive than most surrounding stores. Also their generic line of food is just that generic lacking flavor and taste. If you want a quick in and out go here for your staples. If you're doing your full food shopping spend the extra 5 minute drive and go to shop rite in Ramsey or Wyckoff. read more

This review is for the ACME Allendale, NJ I have had to return meats 4 times in the past year. Their meats do not last up to the expiration dates even though we bought it close to the expiration date. I returned a package of chicken bought today which had a pack date of 5/27 but sell date 6/2 which is today. When I cut open the plastic wrap it smelled so bad. If you get chopped beef the meat at the center and at the bottom would be brown. read more

Dear acme, Jacking up the price of ribs to $7.99 a lb when everyone else around you is selling ribs for $2.99 is a dishonest tactic to get people to pay more and buy double the product at market prices. The meat department "buy one get one free" on some meats. What they do is charge you double or more per lb then make you "buy one get one free" in order to buy 2 at a slightly higher price per lb than their competitors.... Acme's introduction to the town is "let's see how stupid you are". read more

I went to the Starbucks today at Acme and found out they have raised the price of a tall iced coffee from $2.41 to $2.52. I used to go there a lot when it was A&P and why does Acme advertise outside they have cheaper prices when they are already higher? I used to get refills there when it was A&P and I guess they are going by corporate Starbucks rules and they won't do it unless you chug your coffee drink within 30 mins. They make enough money, I never have a problem getting a refill at any other Starbucks. I won't go back to this Acme or any Acme unless it's an emergency. Also it is so bright inside there I feel like I need sunglasses. read more

I'll admit I shop at subject store because I'm familiar where things are. The employees on the most part are helpful and courteous. Yes, most of the deli associates aren't happy when they see you waiting for assistance. Why they don't pre package popular cold cuts (like their competitors do) is frustrating. Then there's this infatuation with putting more stuff in the aisles and more free standing displays of old cookies or whatever they feel needs moving. Overall selection is lacking reminding me that perhaps they view themselves as a large 7/11. Have no idea how they manage to compete given all the options locally. My wife keeps badgering me why I continue shopping there. read more

So far, it seems pretty much exactly the same as the A&P that was here before it, sans self-checkout. Great, now I have to interact with human beings like a normal person. *sighs. Also, no alcohol sold here due to some NJ regulation on the number of locations a chain can serve alcohol in, per region. Stopped by here recently to pick up a bunch of flowers to bring to a home-bound friend. The employee that is assigned to the floral department was on break, so the customer service person asked another employee (who was nearby) to assist in the floral department. All that was required was to wrap up the floral arrangement in some paper & tie it up with a bow (like they do at Shop-Rite and other places). Well the employee who was asked to help do this couldn't have been more uninterested and unhelpful in doing this simple task. I actually asked her if I could go behind the counter and do it myself. She was so annoyed that she had to do this that she was talking to herself and shaking her head and the poor flowers that she was trying to wrap actually got damaged due to the way she was forcefully wrapping them and banging them down on the counter. Avoid. I am sorry to say that this store has really taken a turn for the worse. High prices, lower selection of products, and the store has a tendecy to leave expired items out! Save ACME for your emergency milk run. I stopped shopping here and go to Stop and Shop in Wyckoff or Shop Rite in Ramsey. read more

In spite of the fact that this store is very convenient to where I live, I will never shop here again. I will go out of my way to shop elsewhere. Twice I was sold food that had signs of bacterial growth. Once I bought an expensive piece of gourmet cheese to take to a friend's house, and was embarrassed when I opened it to find mold. On a second occasion I bought artisanal bread that was expensive, and had obviously been sliced at the store. When bread begins to mold, it usually does so from the outside in. After a few days this bread was showing extreme signs of mold between the slices. This can only mean that the bread slicer that was used to slice it was not clean. I do NOT recommend this store. read more

Unfortunately ACME had the opportunity to create a real great place to food shop. Firstly and lastly their strongest positive is it's location and convenience. However knowing they are 5min away from a flagship Shop rite store one would think that they would try be more aggressive in their pricing. I just paid on average 20-25% more on identical items. They have advertised specials but they require you to by multiple items. Also they have specials where you buy one get one free. When you take into account the inflated cost of the first item the average unit price averages out to be barely a discounted item and still higher than its neighboring competition. Their product selection is lacking as well due to space restrictions. 1/3 of the store is made up of deli, produce, prepared foods and organic section with 30 choices of healthy veggie chip flavors. Saturday afternoon and the store was empty. The formula needs to be changed up. Couldn't find a place to park at Shop rite that's why stopped at ACME. You should go do some recon and start figuring out what your very successful competition is doing and copy them. Ironically I would go to your star as a first choice because it is quite close to my home. Hopefully you will figure it out. Your original name isn't enough. Good luck.
