These guys are super nice and run a totally fair business. They sell gardening stuff (including dirt, which no one seems to have downtown, cleaning supplies, paint, and all the regular stuff you would expect at a hardware store. You can copy keys there too! Acme Lock & Hardware runs a terrific brick and mortar store on Main St. and I've always enjoyed going in there and had a good experience getting general items and/or getting copies of keys made, etc. My bad experience has been with their off site appointment tardiness - I've used them twice recently for off site jobs - The first time the technician arrived a 1/2 hr late to our scheduled appointment and yesterday the technician arrived an hour and 15 minutes late of our scheduled appointment. Things happen, I get it....10-15 minutes late...no big deal....and/or running late but calling the customer to let them know. I had to call Acme in both cases to find out what was going on. Once the technician arrived in both cases he was very good and I was happy with the work, etc. read more

Best friend just had his locked changed by these guys. The man who came out was very fast and friendly. They did an excellent job.

Went in to have a key FOB programmed. The lady that "helped" us was extremely rude. We were told it would take approximately 10 minutes. After 45 minutes, we went out to check how the progress was going & she slammed the car door in our face! We went back inside for 10 minutes and then went out to tell her to forget it, that we had other things to do. She stepped out of the car, threw the key FOBs back in my hand, dropping one & said that the vehicle wasn't communicating with the programmer and therefore they weren't programmable. Picked up her things & left without saying another word. I will never be going back to them for anything even though they are right around the corner from where I live. I'm sorry she was having a bad day but, her complete rudeness for no reason whatsoever cost that business a customer & I will not recommend them to anyone. read more

I recently went to Acme Lock and Door in order to replace a lost car key. Everyone there was extremely helpful and Tim, who sold the key, was quick to calm any fears I had regarding programming the key to the car. This was my second experience with Acme Lock and Door and I was not disappointed with my experience. This is a hidden gem in downtown Cincinnati. I have come here so many times to get new keys made, pick up odds and ends to make repairs around the house, gardening supplies (which are hard to come by downtown) and now even frequent to pick up things needed to make repairs at my work. This place has many great employees, who are helpful and knowledgable. The prices are great and so is the variety of merchandise, coworkers of mine recently spent a heck of a time driving around town looking for a bar sink stopper with no success. I knew Acme would be the place to go and what do you know? I walked in, stepped into the aisle I needed and BAM! They had so many choices and sizes to choose from it was amazing. They are getting ready to make a move to a larger spot just around the corner (this fall?) so I can't wait to check out the new and improved Acme Lock& Hardware. This place has old school charm that brings me back to shopping at Furrows on Colerain Avenue with my dad when I was little. I do all I can to promote this place and you should too.
