We had Acme Appliance Services of Stratford, CT replace the ice maker in our sub-zero. In less than a year it wasn't functioning, again. We asked Will Nuzzo, the owner of Acme, what might be the reason for the problem and he blasted out to us, "Stop slamming the drawer" When we said "We really don't slam anything", he flew into a rage with some abusive, insulting and uncalled for language. We were shocked. Further, in another repair call about the ice maker not shutting off when the ice bucket is full, he fixed it but right after he left, it failed again. When he came back again and simple asked if it was covered by the warranty and he became angry and abusive to us and even screamed and then he walked out on us in a huff-for whatever reason. My wife and I were left looking at each other in bewilderment and very upset and shaken about the whole situation. Do not use Will Nuzzo of Acme Appliance, in addition to not standing by his work, as he is unstable with apparent personality issues triggering outbursts and unpredictable and scary situations for customers. read more

Will was disrespectful and rude - often fighting me or laughing at me when I was trying to book a follow up appointment. While he was working he also kept screaming and growling at our poor puppy who was whining in his crate. He charged $789.00 to replace our freezer ice maker. Total rip off. Moved into Norwalk and found my dishwasher was not working properly - it wasn't heating the water or drying properly. Called in WIlliam Nuzzo and he just ran it a few cycles and said there was nothing wrong. I asked him if he ran a diagnostic and explain why it wasn't getting hot - he said it WAS getting hot - but wouldn't measure the temp for me to prove it and acted like I was in error. $95 for absolutely no repair. I did call in another repairman who ran a diagnostic and said the machine need to be re-set, which he did and it ran beautifully from then on - hot water and dry dishes. My advice: do not hire ACME. read more

Had a problem with Electrolux refridge. Acme was willing to come out quickly vs others. Diagnose was given, parts ordered. Tech returned and was able to fix without need for ordered parts. Appreciated the honesty and the quality of service as he pretty much took the refrigerator apart and put it back together fixing issues not related to the original problem. Pleased with his work and his pleasant nature. Also the owner refunded the down payment on the parts ordered. Good experience altogether. read more

SENIOR CITIZENS AND WOMEN BEWARE!!!! If I could give this business ZERO stars I would!!! A technician who's name I believe was William (not 100% sure) came to my residence to check on the refrigerator unit that's been giving off a putrid smell for the past week. After checking high and low and ruling out a dead mouse, my husband and I began to research google and YouTube to see if we could find what it could be based on similar experiences and descriptions. The beauty of the internet! We came across a very helpful channel that we felt explained exactly what we were experiencing and tried to rectify it on our own. Unfortunately we also discovered that our brand of fridge (Frigidaire) had their spill tray screwed in from the bottom which required tilting our entire enormous unit on its back to access the spill tray and clean out any debris. We hoped there was another way to access it that we just weren't aware of and had my father in law contact a service company. That company turned out to be ACME. Big mistake! William shows up & immediately went for the dead mouse route. I quickly explained that we searched for a dead animal and that one had not been found. I explained what we discovered from our research and explained that the smell kicks up once the fan belt in the unit kicks on which we believe is coming from the spill tray under the unit. This man didn't seem to like my insight. Rolled his eyes and seemed bothered. How dare I step into his domain with my ideas?! He gave me a smug look and an under the breath chuckle which felt like his passive aggressive way of telling me to shut up. So guess what? I shut up and went about by business in the house and let the "expert" do his job. After several minutes of him looking for a dead animal, I heard him tell my father in law who is a senior citizen, "I really expected to find a dead animal under here." I told him it wasn't a dead animal but no harm in double checking, right? He went on now to agree that it could very well be the spill pan and wanted to know if my father in law wanted to replace it. I interjected and asked if he could just remove the spill pan so that we could clean it and then have him reinstall it. He told me with a shit eating attitude, "that's too much work!" and shrugged his shoulders. I'm sorry, I thought we placed a service call. Apparently not. We asked how much the replacement piece was, he stated $80. I asked him how much labor would cost, he stated, $75. I went on to point out, "well, in order to replace the spill tray, you would have to do the same exact work you just said was too much work minus the $80 replacement fee. We would obviously still pay you for your labor but we would rather just clean the spill tray we have now and save $80." His response was, "so I'm supposed to wait around for you to clean the tray?" in which he ended with a chuckle and more shoulder shrugging. This man was flat out RUDE! Once my father in law started to agree with me, this rude man went on to say, "oh, so I'm taking orders from her now? She's the boss here? Everything goes through her?" As if trying to patronize my father in law into somehow taking control of my inquiries. I couldn't even believe what I was hearing and witnessing. YES, sir. This is my home and even though a MAN called you for the service, a WOMAN was now stepping in to find an amicable solution to your unreasonable one. We saw no good reason to have to spend $80 on an unnecessary part and had he explained why we needed to replace it, we could have taken his expertise into consideration. Unfortunately his seemingly misogynistic tantrum over who he had to take "orders" from missed the mark and let me know that his frustrations were occurring because he could not give us any good reason why we would have to spend $80 on an unnecessary part! Not sure if he's in the business of conning elderly people or women out of money but this wasn't the household for those kinds of tricks. He then went on to RAISE HIS VOICE in my home once I responded to his misogyny by pointing out his poor attitude and aggressiveness towards me. I then asked him to flat out leave and told him we wouldn't need his services. He combatively claimed he'd leave, "once I get my money!" How much? $100 for NOTHING! He literally came into our home, said it was a dead rodent, was told that we checked for that and that it was not, moved the fridge forward, looked behind it, pushed it back and looked under it. Said there was no dead rodent and then went on to tell my father in law that he (the senior citizen) would have to do EXACTLY what I stated we wanted HIM (the technician) to do OR get this.. wait for the smell to go away on its own "once the pan dries out." When asked how long that could take he simply said, "I don't know, a week or two." SURE, smell rot for another week or two in our kitchen until whatever it is dries out. I would give negative stars if I could. This man has a major temper problem -- especially toward women -- and I would not feel safe with him in my home ever again. The person who recommended him warned me that he had "bad bedside manner" -- that's an understatement. He said the $110 we paid for estimate would be applied the repair. I asked how much the repair would be and he said "it's not worth it." I asked for more details, then he screamed, full-voiced at me on the phone, called me an idiot and cursed at me for wanting to repair a machine instead of buying a new one. I have never left another review on Yelp. Mr. Nuzzo came to our house and determined that (in his opinion) the appliance wasn't repairable. Fine. Charged $110 for the consultation (which took 5 mins). Fine and fully disclosed before he came. That being said he was rude, ill-tempered and completely unprofessional on the phone with my girlfriend when she asked some basic questions. Mr. Nuzzo was lacking in all manners and basic professionalism in his interactions with a paying customer. There are many better, nicer and more professional service options in the local area. Read other reviews...appears to part of a pattern of rude behavior and not an isolated incident. read more

I totally agree with the other reviewers. The owner is an absolute jerk- SO RUDE! Has no manners at all. Came out to repair our Bosch dishwasher. Could not figure out the problem but kept ordering the same part 3 times (a new circuit board) and would not attempt to troubleshoot any other areas that might be the cause. Cuts you off if you even try to suggest anything. His assistant used a power drill and damaged all the screws and then secured the door with zip ties inside. Can you imagine? After he left the dishwasher door split open and crashed on the floor. We were recommended Acme Appliance repair by Marsillio's in Fairfield CT who sell high-end home appliance. It was a horrible experience to say the least. Acme Appliance cannot remain in business. BEWARE of these guys. read more

Came out to diagnose my range hood and charged me for the visit, said he needed to order the part and would come back to replace it at a later date. Between May 27 and July 14, I contacted him 6 times to try to get him to come back. Twice he said it would be "this week," but he never showed up. I finally had to call someone else so I'm out the money I paid him for the initial visit. I'm sure this guy knows what he's doing but if he's going to take your money and never come back out, I would not recommend. read more

I am soooo glad I called Acme Appliance with a problem with my oven. I had accidentally pressed the self-clean button while I was cooking, and because I had opened the oven door, not only would the oven door not close again, but it wouldn't let me do any more cooking. I believe it was the owner who came to my house to repair the icemaker unit in my freezer that had stopped working. I was at work and my wife was home. Firstly, my wife reported that he was brusque and rude, but whatever. He ordered parts and replaced the water valve and the entire icemaker ($320 worth of parts) and said it would start producing ice again over the next couple of days. It did not. We had him back out and he discovered it was a wiring problem underneath the unit that he could fix with what he had on hand. I felt this should have been checked before we spent all this money on new parts. Tried to call him, didn't get him, then sent a message to the e-mail address on his website. No response. When I finally had time to follow up by phone a week later, he told me he never saw my message and he "doesn't do e-mail" (despite having an e-mail address on his website) and that he just indiscriminately deletes all his e-mail because he gets so much junk. Unsurprisingly, he refused to refund any money, but I felt like I had to at least try. Total repair with parts and labor was $560, and I told him I could let the extra labor and even the cost of the water valve slide, but that a refund of just a couple hundred bucks for what seemed like an excessive charge for unneeded parts would be in order. He wasn't having it, and I don't have time to argue endlessly or sue over a couple hundred bucks, which I'm sure is what he banks on. I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for your repair needs. read more
