Really, five stars for the dump, Steph? Yep…read more I literally have found some GEMS here. What do you speak of? The take-it or leave-it section. A not-so-little-anymore shack filled with people's discards. From books, to microwaves, to games to clothes, this place literally has everything. You do have to wade through piles of usually damp and sometimes gnarly things to get to that wool coat from 1975 from some designer that your mom says was the "it" label back in-the-day that some 70-year old lady dropped off that is absolutely perfect, but oh, so worth it. I'd like to highlight this is Nantucket, so you can get some really great finds from some rich ass people. There is a bit of competition, especially if you happen to go on a weekend; people are hawks these days. Literally they camp out for hours and wait. I'm not that intense, but casually strolling in, I usually leave with some item that I'm down with and ya know what? When I get home and realize it's not all that? Or maybe a surprise stain appears? The return policy is amazing; ya just bring it back and throw it back on the pile. Full circle, baby. Oh, the trash part? Super organized. You gotta separate your garbage. It's been awhile since I actually interacted with staff, but I remember they used to be a bit rough around the edges. My Yelp friends in Jersey & NYC are now probably thinking I'm crazy, I'm not! This is real and if you happen to be visiting Nantucket and you're on the bike path to Madaket, stop by, you may find a treasure!

Eric Medeiros Appliance:…read more First, let me note that I rarely write Yelp reviews. The only ones I have written over the years ( that I recall) are for my computer tech extraordinaire, Martin Wang, of Wang P.C, in Brookline, MA and my guitar tech, Mark Herbert, also of Brookline MA. They are both the absolute best in class. Meanwhile, year after year, Eric Medeiros, who is both an appliance retailer and repairman, has always been there for myself and my family. For 20 years or more, he has professionally and skillfully advised, purchased, maintained and stood by all of them. Hexbailed us out with repairs/ replacements and whatever was needed, at various times( including last minute moments of desperation). Trucking up to the Gay head/Aquinnah area has never been a thrill for many subcontractors/ tradesmen and so forth. But Eric has always come through. Sales wise, when one considers the extra time, trucking/ freight expense and so forth involved in purchasing most any large item, Eric has always managed to offer us very fair and competitive prices on all of our purchases. He is extremely knowledgeable, skilled, experienced. Of note is his unique awareness of the island's unique weather tendencies and which brand/ model/ type of appliance( for various reasons) and thus which particular appliance might do best under said particular circumstances. I felt that it was about time that I got around to acknowledging my appreciation of his skills and efforts on our behalf. Additionally, his assistant, Mary Beth has been great at fitting in s into his schedule and pinpointing our needs. Thank you, guys!! Steven Kaufman AQ, MA
