Came in to get my nose pierced yesterday and I love this place! It's 5 minutes away from my place and easy to find. Extra clean shop and has amazing tattoo art on its wall, seriously AMAZING guys! She was so friendly and made the entire process enjoyable. I have had three different experiences with Aces. The female staff I encountered were very nice. And the male was absolutely rude. One woman did my nose piercing, the process was smooth and simple. However, when it came time to change it out, the ball on the nose ring was too tight so I had to go to another shop (I was back in my hometown for the holidays) and get someone to remove the ring. Otherwise, she was very sweet. The other female was Dorian. She was an exceptional staff member who made my left industrial piercing easy. When it came time to change it out, I had no issues. Now when I called Aces, a man answered the phone. I kindly asked if I could be told the exact day I got my left industrial done (since I needed to know for donating plasma). And what he said was just appalling, I question how someone who has such a snarky attitude is allowed to deal with customers. "I'm not going to go through months of paperwork just to look for you." After he said that, I didn't want to deal with him anymore so I just said "Fine", and hung up. The quality of work and customer service could be so much better (with the exception of Dorian). I don't think I will return to Aces after mediocre to deplorable encounters. read more

just like many others testify...CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. had an appointment with an artist that was canceled at 2 am the previous day. so i go for a walk in tattoo, the guy who "helped" us was rude to me off the bat (pretty sure it's the same guy ppl have mentioned) He goes to the back, finds no tattoo artist (was watching him the whole time and store was empty) comes back and tells me that i'm not tattooed enough to get what i asked for. Funny how that's the reason after he couldn't find an artist to tattoo me. i was a returning customer.... Aces is a joke and their artist have been rude most times i've gone there. very elitist attitude. What they didn't realize is i was with my girlfriend trying to get tatted as well, so we took our business to Metropolis and they were amazing! Went with mom to get my earlobes & an industrial piercing, Mom got an industrial & the little knobby thing in front of the ear canal pierced. Adria was the piercing artist that did the piercings & was very nice, helpful, & patient. Explained the different bar sizes, pain of getting, post care, and helped get everything in order in a very friendly and professional manner. All piercing jewelry was the high grade surgical steel grade metal, so no cheap metals here. She was sooooo sweet! if she wasn't married I would have asked her out as she pierced by ear. After piercing my moms and my ears, she explained post care again and answered all of our questions. And she gave us a little baggie with piercing hygiene instructions and cleaner solution to prevent infections, as well as a few jolly ranchers (not the fake ones either :) ) Zero negative attitude, and was comfortable with my LBGT status. This was by far the CLEANEST parlor I've ever been in on 3 continents and 5 US states. Everything was clean. The waiting area, the register area, the floors, the bathroom, the walls and ceiling, and most importantly the tattoo/piercing floor/stalls. I could clearly see that everything being used was properly sanitized and sterilized. Adria changed to new gloves anytime she needed to go from sterile to something non-sterile (like a marking pen) and in no way during the entire visit was I uncomfortable with my surroundings. My mom share my sentiments 100% x 10. I've wanted to get my ears pierced for a long time and doing it with my mom was something I really wanted to be part of that experience. Alex was my artist and he drew the most perfect eagle for me. I got it on my ribs and of course it hurt but he was very reassuring, very happy and in love with this tattoo that also happened to be my first. At one point I had to stop and I teared up because it was on my ribs and I definitely could feel it, but he was very nice and understanding. I was a big fan of this place and had gotten a few piercings and a tattoo here. I even drove all the way from Dallas to schedule and appointment for my second tattoo. I talked to the guy at the counter to set up the appointment and he was so rude, he insulted me several times. I was so shocked I went ahead and scheduled the appointment to meet with a tattoo artist anyway. I paid a $20 deposit. When I left I thought it over and decided that I never wanted to interact with that jerk ever again, so I call and cancel the appointment. Guess who answers? The guy who was super rude! So when I cancel he insults me some more! The nerve of this guy. So I just let the $20 go and I will never set foot in this place again so I don't have to ever interact with that guy ever again. I don't know what his problem was but I hope he got fired. Worst customer service ever! read more

SO. RUDE. we walked in to get my friend's tattoo finished and they told us it was impossible and that there was absolutely no way to finish it. They did not even try. One look and they just kicked us out. We went over to the tattoo shop on 377 near Gateway Apartments and they did it in no time flat, making the tattoo look wonderful. Tattoo snobbery at its finest!! Last week Aria pierced my nose, didn't crack a smile. Figured, eh, bad day, we all have them. Came in today with a friend to get tattoos. A chub dude with red nappy hair literally made fun of what we wanted and said nothing open until 7pm. Fine, no problem. Different dude comes and looks at my design and said he'd draw it up and would be about $200. Fine. While we were waiting, some other people came in, chub told them, he's booked until 7p, but call at 2:30. We were never told that, wteff? So, still waiting for dredlock dude to come with his drawing, didn't come out after about 20 minutes. We saw him moving picture frames around???? I saw Aria, smiled and said hi, she didn't even acknowledge me. We left and went to Smilin Ricks, and Ian did my tat perfectly for $80!!! Aces can keep their tat snobbery. Total jerks. read more

I got my nose pierced by Dorian, as well as double forward helix piercing on two separate occasions. She was really nice and quick. I love my piercings, and she even gave me a little "care" bag with suckers, referral cards, and piercing cleaner. I give Aces 3 stars because they do have very talented tattoo artists. They all do stellar work. HOWEVER, the artists attitudes are severely lacking. My first tattoo related visit here was to get a tattoo on my foot and a friend accompanied me. We were chatting, but not being loud whatsoever. There was some giggling, but no obnoxious laughter. The artist doing my piece told us in a very angry way, "Y'all need to stop talking, otherwise I can't focus and your tattoo will be messed up." Uh, what? So, we stopped talking. Let me clarify one thing, I told the artist I wanted the word "Love". I did not specify any kind of special thing, I just told him to do as he wished with it. He quoted me $65. We're now nearing the end of the tattoo and he has added all kinds of embellishment to it, which I love, but he decides to angrily mutter, "I knew I should have charged you more for this." I was a little miffed with that statement and said, "I just told you the word I wanted and told you to do what you wished with it. You decided to charge $65 and then do more work for that price. Not my fault." He ended up cashing me out with serious attitude. No tip. My second experience was a little better. The guy did great work, but never said a word, and acted upset through the whole thing. No big deal. The third time was a lot better though. A dread-locked guy did my tattoo and he LOVED my design idea. He was super excited to do it and his excitement and great energy were contagious! He joked around with me and spoke to me through the whole thing and just made it a really pleasant experience. Dorian, one of the piercers here is absolutely AMAZING! She has done all of my piercings and is a very kind woman. She even saw me outside the studio once and came up to me to ask how my most recent piercing was doing! Adria is a true professional. She pierced both of my nipples and did a perfect job. She also listened to me, patiently, beforehand and answered all of my questions and concerns. She's been doing this for years and can dispel a ton of useless, and frankly incorrect, internet opinions. I'll stick to the pros and take the internet data with a grain of salt. Here's the long and short of it: I really really love this place. I've had nothing but amazing experiences from McFarland and the atmosphere of the place is really chill and was the best place and artist I could have gone to for my first (and all my subsequent) tattoos. The worst tattoo experience ever! Took the guy 2 hours to draw up a tattoo he said would take 14 minutes. He came out with something completely ridiculous! I had gotten a cartilage piercing at icing [bad idea btw] and they put in those earring with the fast backs which wasnt allowing my ear to heal and cause pressure on my ear when it was swelling. So I went to aces in the hopes that they could put in proper cartilage earrings [my piercings were only a week old] and awesomely enough they did just that. The woman I had was named Dorian and she was amazing and very nice. She expertly cleaned and even repierced my ear to make room for the new earrings and it was done quite fast. The piercing itself hurt a bit but no more than the gun did. It wad fairly cheap and I'd definitely recommend her. Will be coming back if in need of any more piercings! read more

Most of these reviews are written by folks who have NO understanding of how tattoo artistry works. Most of the time, the artists are trying to give the picky customer the best tattoo given the constraints set by the desired image, location, and the shape of their body. Rather than coming in with rigid ideas about size, shape, and location, I suggest folks come in with some *general* ideas/pictures and ask the artist their professional opinion. Every artist has their particular strengths and limitations. Letting the artist work with their own aesthetics can be really helpful because they have great imagination and eye for color. Of course, you can look at the portfolios and get a sense for what kind of work they do, but leave some room for them to work with your ideas to give you the BEST experience possible. Don't bring images of other people's tattoos to be copied onto your body. That's really insulting to the artist! The artists will also be cautious regarding what may be an "impulse" tattoo where people just walk in to the shop, expecting something amazing on the spot for under $100. The best you can do is ask them to do a custom piece by making an appointment and consulting with them. This method is often the most cost efficient, too. Contrary to what most folks are saying on here, I had a really great experience at Ace's. I called ahead of time to ask if I could come and share my ideas with Lucas (who is moving to Rebel Muse in Lewisville BTW) and within a couple of weeks, he came up with an amazing custom piece for me. It was much better than I expected because he was able to have some artistic freedom and TIME to work on it. Yes, it can be scary and nerve-wracking to trust someone with a needle that pokes you a thousand times per minute but don't let that scare you into making a a bigger mistake which is not trusting their artistry. read more

I got my nose pierced here on Dec 12 2018. It is now almost 2 months later and I had to get it taken out because the piercer did such a horrible job. She put a captive bead on it which your'e not supposed to do and so my nose was swollen and infected because of her. Never go here and ask them to pierce you with a hoop. This place is horrible and didnt even tell me they were going to put a captive bead. read more

I have not gotten tattooed here, but I got my second helix piercing and another ear piercing here yesterday. I had a great experience, my piercer was patient with me and helped me figure out where to put the piercings, and the actual piercing was so quick! On top of this, 2 weeks ago I wanted to get my belly button pierced again but I couldn't because of the scar tissue. The piercers here are so knowledgeable and told me how to fix it, and soon I'll be able to go back and get my piercing! read more

My sister and I went in to get a memorial tattoo of our mom who just passed a few days before, tiffer our tattoo artist didn't show for our appointment time at 3. Another artist had to get in contact with him so we waiting another hour and he still was a no show!!! The artist was so rude when I contacted him and never apologized for the situation. I'm a hair stylist and in somewhat the same business as tattoo artist and I would never treat a client like this!!
