A classic Cuban sandwich features roast pork, sliced ham, swiss cheese, dill pickle chips, and yellow mustard on buttered pressed Cuban bread.       Two Broke Chics offered their slight twist on a Cuban. The base line ingredients were spot on and plentiful, especially their pulled pork. I was apprehensive when I witnessed them applying coleslaw to my sandwich as 9.5 times out of 10 I'll push away most coleslaws after one bite. Two Broke Chics' Cuban sandwich was taken to another and much-appreciated level. I'd actually order their coleslaw as a side.   My partner, she-who-must-be-obeyed ordered their Stadium sandwich which is Two Broke Chic's version of a Philly cheese steak sandwich with the added touch of au jus dipping sauce. You're not allowed to dine in at Two Broke Chics and so you're on your own as to where to enjoy their sandwich deliciousness. However, the open kitchen is its own ambiance allowing you to view the construction of your sandwich.   We are now fans of Two Broke Chics, will return and suggest you return as often as possible or give it a go for the first time.

And in the category of sub style sandwiches I would pick this local business over any of the chains in the greater Tacoma area. Drinks and chips are offered at a seperate price. Parking is very limited, and The building needs some work. The eating area is small but okay, the tables were mainly a waiting area for take out, but for those of us who did eat in, the tables were not wiped down once while we were there, and the floor needed a desperate sweep. The wait was a bit long but they were very busy (a very good sign) take out orders are many, and for the most part only 1 person dedicated to making sandwiches. Suggestions: You're busy! We do not eat out much, so we were genuinely excited and maybe a little impatient to try them. When they handed us the sandwiches, I immediately noticed how heavy they were. As a flight attendant and an unapologetic foodie, I've eaten my way through cities all over the world. You learn pretty quickly when a restaurant is simply serving food versus when it's serving something made with genuine care. This place falls firmly into the second category. The customer service? Just the sweet Rainier cherry on top of an already incredible experience (and yes... go look at their bakery case while you're there). Jocelyn was phenomenal. I asked how this little slice of heaven came to be, and she happily shared the story behind it. One owner spent years as an executive chef at a casino, while the other built a career as a professional baker in Aberdeen. Boy, does that expertise show. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles. A little context: I mostly eat pescatarian these days, so when I do splurge on chicken, my expectations are sky high. I've built it up in my head as one of the foods I miss most (right alongside a good ribeye), and it's almost always disappointing. Not this time. This chicken is absolutely ridiculous. They debone a chicken thigh and fry it into the crispiest, juiciest piece of fried chicken I've had in a long time. It's made with a gluten-free batter, which means more people get to enjoy it. And before anyone assumes "gluten-free" means sacrificing flavor... think again. Plenty of great chefs will tell you the best fried coatings come from starches like potato or cornstarch anyway. What really made this meal special, though, was that my partner is vegan. If you've ever dined out with someone who's vegan while you aren't, you know how rare it is for both people to walk away feeling like they had an equally great meal. It almost never happens. Here, it did. She ordered the vegan Indian tacos with corn tortillas, and they looked incredible. She was excited to try the fry bread, and instead of simply serving it, the staff thoughtfully explained it wasn't vegan and helped her choose an alternative. That's the kind of attention to detail you don't forget. Our service was perfectly paced. If you're looking for food in five minutes, there are plenty of places where "cooking" means microwaving something that arrived frozen. This isn't one of those places. Everything tastes intentional, and that takes time. Our food still arrived in under 20 minutes, maybe even less. Slow down, talk to the people you're with, and enjoy the experience. Great food isn't supposed to feel rushed. We stumbled across this gem on our drive home from Ocean Shores, and I'm so glad we did. I only wish it were closer to home because we'd become regulars in a heartbeat. I can't recommend this place enough.
