Bottom Line: Look elsewhere. There are cheaper options in the area with better staff.
**Major Issues**
- Deceptive Leasing: I was told they couldn't hold a unit and was forced into a more expensive one, while the original unit sat empty for months.
- Poor Maintenance: Moved into a unit with a broken stove and limited hot water. The staff damaged the shower handle during a repair. The AC failed during a heatwave, causing my electric bill to soar without any compensation.
- Pest & Security Problems: Constant bug infestations and a mouse in my apartment with no real solutions offered. Security is lacking, with gates often propped open and package theft issues.
- Noise Issues: Thin walls led to major noise disturbances, including an upstairs neighbor's 4 AM workouts. Office staff were unresponsive to complaints.
- Management Response: Staff ignored maintenance requests and failed to follow up. I often had to fix issues myself.
- Additional Problems: Ongoing construction, unreliable trash service, inappropriate behavior in common areas, and violation of no-smoking policies.
Positives: Safe neighborhood with good shopping nearby.
I am really frustrated right now, and let me explain why. Recently, the AC unit in my apartment complex broke down just when it was the hottest time of the year. I came home to find my cat laying near her water bowl, struggling with the heat. I called the complex to report the issue, but I had to return to work and wasn't home when they arrived. However, I have a camera in my unit.
They brought in a portable AC unit since the problem wasn't a quick fix. The first maintenance person left my lights on and didn't turn off the AC or the portable unit when he left. The next day, another technician came in, turned the AC down to the lowest setting (around 61 degrees) and left with the fan running. This was all happening during the day while I was at work, which was running up my SRP bill.
I also noticed that during this time, my power would cut off because the portable AC was using so much power that it was tripping the circuit breaker. I expressed my concerns to the maintenance worker, explaining that I pay more for pet rent because I have a cat, and I can't just turn off the portable AC during the day when I am not home for her safety. The staff that was present at the time said they would speak with management and they would contact me about possible solutions.
Almost a week later, the issue was finally resolved, but by that time, my power bill had skyrocketed. Normally, my bill is about $70 to $80 a month, but this time it was $145. Clearly, the portable AC was consuming a lot more energy than normal. To cope with the heat, I had been taking cold showers and running a fan at night to cool off and fall asleep faster.
When my rent was due, the bill was also higher than usual, likely due to the increased water usage. I reached out to the complex about the power usage, and they basically said they wouldn't provide any financial assistance. It feels like they caused the problem, and I'm the one left to bear the extra costs.
They didn't even follow up with me as promised, forcing me to initiate contact about an issue that was their fault. I could go into more detail, but I don't want to overwhelm anyone with information.
In summary, I strongly advise looking for somewhere else to live. There are other places in the area that are cheaper and have more attentive staff. I moved in without any reviews to guide me, but now I can tell you: save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else! read more
