Don't ever purchase a pellet stove from these people as they will not honor any kind of after the purchase service that you would expect. I am hugely disappointed was not able to return a couple of fittings that I was using to hook up one of their pellet stoves. It was beyond 30 days BFD. Their return policy suck, and they're very snarky about it at the Sandy store. The little kid that was help me out at checkout. I had to ask for the manager, and he was almost equal a snarky. My wife and I have rental properties and we're always having to pop in to a little mom and pop store to get a couple things.... I have always liked Ace Hardware but with a snarky attitude of the Sandy store I definitely will not be going back there. Encourage all of my friends not to do so either. I don't know how anyone could give this hardware store anything less than 5 stars. I have shopped there for years and they still never cease to amaze me with how many things they have and if they don't happen to have something then they will try to give you an idea as to where you might find it. The owners must be good to their employees because many of the people have been there a long time so is you need help they know right where to find what you need. read more

This is a place that has a little bit of everything. Sometimes they have what we need and it is usually some oddball thing, so that makes them stand out. The staff have always tried to make sure they have done everything they can to find an item before they tell you to drive the other 25 minutes to Home Depot. The prices can be steep on some things but it depends on the price difference and the time to drive to Gresham to locate it, since we live 15 minutes from here in the other direction. Fastenal, when they were in Sandy would send people here for things they didn't have, which was often. They carry everything from sleds to pool supplies. They can also get really busy but the lines seem to move pretty quick. read more

I made a trip out to Sandy today because I needed several household items and I knew that Ace Hardware would have them. Chimneys for some oil lamps, a couple of spacer things for my spinning wheel flyer/bobbin, insulation foam, and some replacement bulbs for our motion detector lights. A very knowledgeable young woman named CeCe helped me, and she was terrific; she was very friendly and knew right where everything was that I needed. I love this store! Why in the world would anyone ever go to a big box store when everything you need is right here? Always! And I love supporting a small town business, too. Way to go, Ace Hardware! Wow. We just moved into the area a month ago. I was skeptical going here after reading a few reviews but I must say those who left the bad ones maybe just having a bad day. Several staff helped us with great attitudes. Not only that help us figure out and work through every bit of our project and even suggested other vendors when they weren't sure they could best meet our needs on price or product. I have lived in Sandy for 18+ years and the customer service is outstanding. For those leaving negative reviews because of "no bathroom", go to McDonalds. The review is supposed to be about the store itself which has just about everything you might need for decent prices. My home is older and can be challenging to find items to fix it and Ace seems to have whatever I need 95+% of the time. Make the stop, you won't be disappointed. read more

This Ace location does have a larger inventory than some of the other local hardware stores but I'm completely unsatisfied with my experience today. Usually the staff is friendly enough, but today I purchased some rather expensive metric bolts, and was irritated to find when I returned home (20 minute drive each way), that one of the bolts was in the wrong bin and had a slightly different thread pitch. I drove back to Ace, grabbed the correct bolt, and took it to the checkout counter. I explained what happened, but the cashier simply said that will be 2.49. No apology, no pleasantry about it being hard to keep the bins accurately stocked, no offer to exchange, no discount, no customer service whatsoever. Maybe it wouldn't have bothered me so much to waste 45 minutes on a holiday if the two people behind the counter had made any effort at all to acknowledge the hassle. read more

Have been going to this store for 30 years and am always pleased that the staff is so good at problem solving. Because it's busy, you do have to wait a bit sometimes, but I would be sunk without this store and their staff. Many times if the item I'm looking for is not in stock, or carried, they have ordered it for me and called when it arrives. They are always friendly and helpful and very resourceful. Decent selection and average prices, but pretty bad customer service. The chip on my card doesn't work and I always have to swipe with it, but apparently this place is unable to swipe cards? So I asked if he could enter the card manually into the register and the guy says "we have a strict policy against doing that." Has anyone ever heard of such nonsense? First time I have ever had my money turned down due to an owners policy. I won't be coming back that's for sure. read more

Whoever picks out what to put on the shelves here is a genius. I moved to Sandy a few years ago and, having developed the big box home improvement store habit, I drove 15 miles past Ace Hardware to Lowe's and Home Depot to buy what I thought my hometown store wouldn't have. One day I was in a hurry and took a shot at seeing if the Sandy hardware store had what I wanted. They did. Then I looked around at the other stuff they had and slapped myself for making all those wasted trips into town. But even more than what they stock, the folks who work there honestly care about serving you. At Home Depot, you first have to find some help, then when you do, they point in the direction you need to go and say "go there." At the Sandy hardware store, they'll gladly walk you there if you want them to. I love this store, and I love the people who work there. My dog also loves it; he heads for the treats they have stashed under the counter as soon as we walk through the door! read more
