We came into The Backyard Barbecue Store to get some rubs that you you cannot find just anywhere,…read morespecifically Meat Church and Porkmafia. The store has a huge selection. What we didn't realize was the absolutely giant variety of charcoal & gas grills and outdoor kitchens the store has. Seems that they have everything related to outdoor cooking. Many of the brands are ultra-premium. We have been cooking on the Big Green Egg exclusively, don't have a need for new gear, but it was really nice to hear about this stuff. Arriving hungry form the northwest suburbs we pleasantly surprised to find out they also SELL barbecue. It was lunchtime so we took a seat at the bar, each having a beer and a sandwich. The pulled pork and the brisket were really good. This is definitely a destination store, trip-worthy from anywhere. We will be back!

I can't believe that I have to tell people about this place. If you are looking for new grill…read moreequipment, classes on grilling or just some great advice this the only place to go! We have been looking to upgrade our grill for a number of years and have finally done it. I really wanted the a good looking grill area and looked many places to either custom build or have a good looking pre-made cabinet. First the custom build was out of my price range. I wanted to have the gas grill and the egg in the same unit but was not able to find any at all. I found two units that I could push together but they were really ugly. Then I went to the experts, The Backyard Barbecue Store. First they were more knowledge about the grills themselves than anyone else and they have a company that makes units just like I wanted. Bonus, they have multiple finishes for you to choose from. I stopped in a couple of times before making my final decision and they were so knowledgeable it was stunning. They were super patient with me. I am such a novice. They do classes here too. I am planning on taking one on how to use my new Big Green Egg. Mike, has already spent an hour of his time giving me some rudimentary instructions. So generous of him! If you are thinking of entering the world of grilling or replacing some existing equipment you would be foolish to not, at least, stop in here!

The controller would know it was 20 or 30° off of desired temp and do NOTHING about it, even on calm windless days! I was at my wit's end! A quick Google search led me to Smoke Daddy. Their website claimed their PID controllers would do a retrofit and keep temperatures within 5°. I wouldn't believe it! I emailed the company and found out there was a military discount to appreciate that we were a veteran family. A phone call later and a very friendly and knowledgeable agent named Daniel gave us a great deal and answered every question regarding the controller for my Pit Boss retrofit. They only ship two-day FedEx and I had it in no time. As a retired mechanic, installation was easy enough by matching schematics with the retrofit controller and the OEM Pit Boss schematics. If you're not good with electrical, have someone who is help you do this. I followed the instructions on operation and ran some bacon through my smoker and it held temperature wonderfully! Not within 5° but within 2° or less! Unbelievable! Also did a burn-off cleaning that was long overdue and it held temperature at 400° within plus or minus 2° for over an hour. I can't believe how good this controller is and the customer service is also top-notch. I can only imagine their other products and service are just as good. Thank you Smoke Daddy for saving my sanity and bringing smoking meats back into an enjoyable hobby again for me!

Hot…read moretub has been in since Sept 15 and it still as of October 7 will not heat up higher than 78. After taking my money, a reputable company would see this problem as a priority, I get a multitude of recorded messages, of course over the weekend. My next recourse is to call Hot Springs and take a trip to court house. As of now I have a big expensive blob in my yard. Water is getting rancid and they keep pointing the finger at the electrician who they have told me numerous times that "they don't work with electricians". Well, maybe they should start. Of course they don't, that way they can point the finger at them. Apparently, they just don't care because after looking at the reviews, they haven't changed a thing. They will be out of business soon. UPDATE: Brandon, Oscar and Sam in service are awesome. I feel like they actually care to orovide good service and take pride in their work. If it weren't for them and their efforts the spa would still not be working. I would give them each a five star rating. I keep hearing how they don't work with electricians but electrical work is a big part of this process and I just wonder how awesome Hansens would be if they had an electrician in service who could work with them. Imagine how much simpler this process would be.

As a long-time customer of Hansen's, I never expected to be writing a review like this…read more Unfortunately, after our recent experience, we will no longer be doing business with this company. We purchased a pump system that stopped working after just one season of use (Summer 2024). Despite providing video proof and reaching out to Hansen's support on June 5th--just 12 days past the warranty period--we were repeatedly met with resistance and unhelpful responses. The manager I worked with, Nicole, initially agreed to an exchange after reviewing the video I sent. However, that offer was later taken back, and we were told the warranty would not be honored. To make matters worse, I was told I could pay $250 to have a service technician "inspect" the system--despite the fact that a brand-new pump retails for only $317. Nicole's suggestion? "Just come in and buy a new one." Frankly, that's unacceptable customer service from a company that claims to stand behind the products they sell. We spent additional money on shock and algaecide throughout this process, under the assumption that the system would be addressed per the suggestions of the employees at Hansens who know absolutely nothing about how to service a pool. Instead, after weeks of back and forth, we were told definitively that no refund or replacement would be offered. The dismissive and at times petty tone of communication from management only furthered our disappointment. It's unfortunate to end a long-standing relationship this way, but we will no longer be using Hansen's for any of our pool needs. I strongly encourage others to consider the level of customer support they expect before purchasing from this business, it is not worth it.

They have lots of options, and unlike some stores they sell pieces individually instead of just as a group or set. There were a couple sets from Sunbrella that I liked, and one from another brand that uses that sort of poly wood (but not that brand name) that was really comfortable and felt nice. If only I had unlimited funds! They apparently switch over to Christmas trees in the winter months, for at least a little while, and they well grills and other outdoor equipment here as well. Few minutes later we saw something we liked and a guy assembling pieces noticed us looking at this set. When I noticed it was past closing time and offered to come back next day he said not to worry and continued answering questions. Zero pressure and offered a catalog to take with. We were tired of all the big box store crap furniture we have bought over the years and pulled the trigger. We are super excited for the arrival of our pieces and very grateful for the attention and service they provided at purchase. Will report back at arrival.
