As a single-income homeowner, I was on a very limited budget…read morebut really needed to change out my masonite siding (though I was not at the best time of my life to do so and friends and family were reminding me of such). But JLC were competitive--without skimping on product or workmanship quality. Not only were they responsive to all questions & concerns, but they were timely and clean. There is something more I'd like to add (without trying to sound too melodramatic): As a single woman, many companies take advantage and/ or dismiss our worries, but I really could not afford (financially or mentally) ANYTHING to go wrong, so when I responded about a few things that weren't done quite right, they responded immediately to come and correct those things until I was satisfied. That said, I will be contacting Jacob's Ladder again for all future home improvement projects.

I spoke with Walter on 8/7 about a bathroom that needed a ceiling. We met at the house the same afternoon, and by 8/12 the project was completed. They completed the bathroom ceiling, installed the bathroom light/exhaust fan combo and drywalled a small alcove next to the shower. It was very time-sensitive as I had guests coming from out of town but they made it happen. Their reliability, communication, honesty, efficiency was completely amazing and I will use them for everything I need done in my property going forward. This company is definitely focused on all-around five-star customer service.

I chose this company based on their online reviews, but after my experience, I seriously question…read morehow accurate those reviews are. From the beginning, I made it very clear that I wanted 100% communication and no misunderstandings. The salesperson assured me the entire project (windows, gutters, shutters, etc.) would take about 2-3 months. I was aware I was paying above average, but I trusted their reputation. That turned out to be a mistake. The problems started right away. I assumed measurements were taken during the initial visit, but they weren't. I had to take time off work for another appointment, and the person they sent was in and out in about 20 minutes. After that, communication completely broke down. I had to repeatedly call just to get updates. Months went by with no clear timeline for installation. Every time I spoke to someone, I got a different answer. The office staff seemed completely disorganized, and emails were confusing or contradicted each other. Eventually, I spoke with managers, and even they admitted there were mistakes and miscommunication. But nothing was actually resolved. When installation finally happened, it was poorly handled. They sent only one person to install gutters, which was inefficient and unprofessional. To make matters worse, they somehow retained my payment information and charged me without my authorization, which is extremely concerning. At one point, a manager apologized but then started mentioning that if I canceled, I could be legally responsible. That is when I completely lost confidence. It felt more like a threat than an attempt to resolve the situation--especially considering they had not fulfilled their obligations despite receiving a large deposit. They later came out to take pictures and "check" the work, but it felt like they were trying to protect themselves rather than fix the issues. I have lost an unbelievable amount of time dealing with this--taking off work, making calls, and sending emails. To this day, I still have an issue with one of the windows. I reached out again and received a response that made no sense, and I still have no real answer. Also, their "lifetime warranty" is not even through them--it's through a third party, which was never clearly explained upfront. Overall, this has been an exhausting and frustrating experience. I strongly recommend being very cautious before choosing this company and considering other options. Look for the response towards any complaints they're completely generic. They don't even give at least any kind of explanation as to why of things occurred. I would take my business elsewhere. You're gonna get robbed. They're charge you an astronomical price for something that anybody else could've done much cheaper.

We had our kitchen remodeled and used their services. I recommend you get EVERYTHING in writing…read more There were things we were told when we were discussing the remodel that didn't happen and when we questioned it we were told it's not in the contract- so every little thing get it in the contract or it won't be done. The start date got pushed back at least 4 months- we lived out of boxes- while waiting for the cabinets to come in during this time there was no communication. We called and emails with little to no response trying to get updates. During the actual installation workers were dropped off and spoke no English and played loud music in the house. Several times we had to call them and have projects taken apart while my son taught them how to install it correctly. As the cabinets were installed it was noted that a cabinet was cracked- they installed it and we were told they ordered a new one- 5 months later and we are still waiting for that cabinet. Once completed it looked like a mess the cabinets were dirty with dust and fingerprints electrical outlets were all different colors and we were responsible for getting the walls painted- again not in the contract. They left black garbage bags on our lawn while the work was being done a few weeks- killing the grass- in the contract they said trash would be removed at completion but in my mind I thought a dumpster would be here like I've seen during neighbors remodels. The company they subcontracted the countertops to were professional and did a beautiful job- they were proud of their work and it showed. In the end I felt like they told us whatever they had to in order to get our business. I will say that they came out after to discuss the issues I had and they seemed to listen so hopefully in the future they don't have the same problems.
