When you're outside the building looks like an old bank so it's totally not a place you'd expect to have axe throwing inside but it does and it's super cool! The staff were all very nice and good at instructing and they played really good music when I was there. I don't think that the drinks were that expensive and they had pretty good food options I would definitely recommend this place for a unique night out with friends or a date

Such a delightful new experience for me! I'm hooked, definitely hooked! Especially during this current COVID-19 pandemic time we're all experiencing, it's nice to have a getaway to feel safe and be out of the house actually doing something! Can't think of a better way to spend time out of the house (indoors anyway)! A friend invited me. He made reservations for us. Parking is along the street. It was Sunday evening so parking was easy to find and free. The hours on their site might need to be updated; it says they are open later than we experienced. We had reservations for throwing axes from 5 to 6 and that was the last reservation from my understanding on this Sunday evening. Caleb was our official coach; Sam was off-duty but she helped me as a newbie anyway and both were so awesome and helpful. First off, you walk inside to the interior of the former bank building and it is so incredible to see the high ceilings and pillars in place. There is a table of axes laid out (sanitized) and lanes of 2 boards side by side with bulls-eyes next to one another for you and your partner, then separated by steel mesh/wire for the next lane of 2 boards, etc. For COVID physical spacing, we were separated from others by one empty 2-lane space. Staff wore masks the whole time but we didn't have to wear masks while we were in our space to throw axes. There is a bar. I didn't pay attention what all you can order. We just ordered cans of soft drinks and we could take to our station to drink while we threw axes. It took me quite awhile to get the hang of it but with sufficient practice and coaching from Sam and Caleb, I think I finally got it (at least what I was "supposed" to do.) I even had a few land in the bulls-eye! Strutting my stuff, I am! What a wonderful re-purpose of the bank building space and upstairs is the Escape Room I'll have to try on another visit! Oh, and when you're done here, head over to Dorothy 6 restaurant across the street!

My husband and I came here on a Sunday afternoon on a last minute decision. We had a great time! We booked online the day before. It was really simple. When we got there we were greeted and signed in right away. After that a coach came over and showed us a few techniques and then let us to it. We played a few different games but really just had a good time throwing axes and hitting the board. I highly suggest trying this out if you are looking for something different to do. The place is in an old bank on the Main Street in homestead. It was super clean. Also we did not know this , it's byob and bring your own food.

One of my favorite places to go axe throwing! They have a book of different games to choose from that goes best with your group's style and skill level. Our coach Kate was awesome! She was enthusiastic, helpful to getting us throwing with the right form so we'd get the axes to stick on the board, and also not intrusive to our group to let us have our space. That was probably my favorite part, how the throwing coaches gave us time and space to play whichever game or make up our own. There's a lot of freedom here that I've never seen anywhere else. We did a 2hr session which was more than enough time to warm up, play some games and move into a tournament bracket elimination game. We had a blast here and look forward to coming back again!

What a fun time! We had our ladies night here and it was great. Our coach, Jeff, was a really good instructor. He promised that before we left, everyone would throw at least one bulls eye, and he was right. We all hit it at least one time! This place was spacious and it even had an area to play giant-sized games like connect four and corn hole. He had the music playing through the loud speaker in the ceilings and even gave us a choice of music (He called us the party group, lol). There is also a VR room and escape room also available on the lower levels. Overall, it was a blast and I'm sure we would return!

I've been dying to go to an axe throwing business for what seems like forever. A large group of us went for a birthday and it was even more fun than I thought. Honestly it sounds like it could get repetitious throwing axes over and over but if you're like me I wasn't the best on my first few throws.. so it took some warming up to get the motion right and finally getting the axes to stick was awesome. The staff guided us for most of our visit and separated us into two groups to compete against one another making it even more fun of an experience. This place is no frills but makes up for it in fun and excitement. I'll definitely be back in the future.

I planned a surprise birthday outing for my fiance and best friend here. We had a great time. Jon was our instructor, and he was awesome! He helped each of us individually with our throwing, as none of us had ever thrown axes before. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely return!

Chel was an awesome coach and they made sure we got the hang of it before leaving us on our own which was very appreciated.

I visited Steel City Axes as part of a private event. Not only do they have Axe Throwing (Which is…read morevery FUN by the way), but they also have Escape Rooms (I believe there are three different rooms (We got to pick one of the three at our event), and my wife and I chose the "80's Dance Club" room, which was a TON of FUN!!! We were partnered with three other people that we hadn't met before, and we were given a briefing, and then were set loose to try and solve the puzzle, and win the challenge before the allotted time was up. My wife and I are both in our 50's, so this room was perfectly themed for our age (but really, I feel just about any age would still have fun in here, but it was even more meaningful, because we lived the 80's life). The music was perfect, I knew every single song, and the effects, were spot on, and it almost felt like were going back in time. Now, I don't want to spoil the fun, and tell the secrets of this room, but let me just say, that this room was so fun, it had us dancing and singing just like we were at a dance club back in the day!!! Bottom line for us, we did NOT solve the room, as we got stuck on a "time waster" and we lost a lot of valuable time, but my wife and I both want to go back and try it again some day, as well as try out the other themed rooms also. Now, in my opinion, the Escape Room was our favorite part of Steel City Axes, but we also enjoyed the actual Axe Throwing too!! We were on site for a little over two hours, and it took 60 minutes to do the Escape Room. The other sixty minutes was spent mingling with others, and taking turns playing with the axes. We threw axes before our Escape Room, and after. I got the hang of it pretty quickly, and got a few bullseyes, but my wife had a harder learning curve. Eventually she figured it out, and was getting the axes to stick into the target, but her axes (and a few for me too) ended up bouncing off the board. We felt very safe, as there was a staff person watching and making sure we followed all the rules (and gave some tips too). Lastly, I must talk about the decor and ambience of the business, which had a funky-Victorian parlour feel to it. There was antique furniture, paintings, taxidermy (stuffed animals wearing cute clothes), and it felt really homey to me, and had a welcoming/ inviting vibe (Check out some of my photos to see how cool it is). Also, they sell a variety of drinks, to include some of my favorite soda pops, made locally by Natrona Bottling / Red Ribbon Sodas . . . I didn't buy any this time, because our party provided bottled waters (and popcorn), but when I come back, I will certainly patronize the snack bar area. I also think I heard that it was BYO, if you choose to partake in an adult beverage. If I had any feedback to improve my experience, it would be to provide some sort of grade at the end of the Escape Room, such as "You completed 11 of 15 challenges (here's where you went wrong, etc.)." We really were kind of left hanging, we knew we failed, but didn't know by how much. Also, our room guide was a little bit soft-spoken, and I had a bit of a hard time hearing everything he said (Note: I usually wear hearing aids, but because of the pandemic, I stopped wearing them because if I wear a mask it doesn't fit properly when my hearing aids are in (BTW, Masking WAS NOT required here if you are vaccinated, but was optional (Many in our group chose to wear masks, and that's fine with me (I brought a mask with me just in case it got too crowded)). Overall though, I still give this place FIVE stars, and both my wife and I look forward to coming back and trying to solve those Escape Rooms again some day . . . BIG CHEERS for Steel City Axes!!!!!

I really liked that there was an option for a "no touch" check-in & there were signs everywhere reminding people to wear a mask, hand sanitizer available, & they wiped the axes off after each person in our group was done with their throwing turn. There are stools & tables to hang out on & fridges (!) for BYOB. Instructors were very good at helping me perfect my throwing technique. I'd say perfect for a group of 4-10 people.

Pretty much the same setup as any other axe throwing place. Some of the boards were loose so we had to change bays a couple of times and the girl had to drill the planks in a few times as well. It was slightly challenging to identify the entrance to the business - it's the same as LumberJAxes. The space is huge and mainly dedicated to axe throwing, but there's a large bar with a good selection of beer on draft, some bottles, and some canned cocktails. The gameshow room is off to the side by one of the entrances. Our "host" took our group in and had us split into two teams of 10. Over the course of an hour and a half, we played several rounds of probably 5 or 6 different games. The host was fun and energetic, doing her best to keep everyone engaged and involved. This was a fun and unique experience priced at $40/pp. They have tons of tables where you can eat food that you order from a local business, clean bathrooms, and a parking lot located somewhat behind the building. Would recommend for a fun indoor activity for a group!

The axe throwing lane was shorter than the others and I'm not sure why but none of us were doing as well as we have in the past. The waiting area was also small. This wasn't a huge deal because we had 3 lanes to our party. I also hated the fact that it was so quiet in there! You had to pay to use the Juke box. Another thing that I did not like is they we were basically kicked out after our hour I had reserved. We weren't asked if we wanted to pay more for another hour which we would've definitely done because we were having a good time.
