Dr. Chang is the absolute best, especially when it comes to OrthoK. She is actually the owner of the practice, and you can tell how much care and attention she gives to every patient that she personally sees. Dr. Chang took a huge amount of time from day one to discuss everything about OrthoK and answer each and every question that I had. My personal lifestyle has changed significantly because of the ortho-K treatment that I've had done here. It still amazes me that every morning I can see very clearly without the use of glasses and contact lenses. Dr. Chang is very particular about making sure that a person is not uncomfortable with the ortho-K procedure, and that is something that is very positive about all that she is doing here. So if you ever think about going to an ortho-K or if you just want an eye care professional that cares and knows what she is doing, then you want to be here. New UPDATE FROM 30 MINUTES AGO: At this point Dr chang is harrassing me and trying to intimidate me. Dr Chang called me after I posted this review and BEFORE posting her response to my review so I can take it down. I didn't answer and Dr. chang called again and when I didn't answer, she followed up by responding to my review falsely accusing me of being angry and not to post my "unhappiness on Google", lol. Dr chang then changed her review, removing one part. I ATTACHED A PICTURE of the first response of hers in which she quickly decided to edit it. When someone mentions her hostile attitude, she responds that she was courteous and professional but its anything but that. PLEASE BEWARE!!! I bet you if someone talked to her or her son like that, she wouldn't call that person "courteous and professional". Dr chang keeps editing and posted to my review 4 times already. (I posted pics of all 4 so far) The gaslighting and facade she puts on is crazy! I started seeing Dr. Chang 13/14 years ago, maybe more, ever since she was at LensCrafters in Paramus. When she moved to Englewood (around 2014) to open up her own practice, I followed her there as a patient. It was a much further commute for me but I liked her as my eye doctor and she used to be cheerful and friendly. A couple years ago, she left the Englewood location to go back to Paramus. I called one day to make an appointment. She was sooo incredibly rude to me to the point where I had to call her out on it. Long story short, Dr. Chang called me back that day to apologize to me. We spoke, had a mature conversation and I decided hey maybe she's been going through a rough time. This morning I called the office's answering service (because she hasnt had someone work for her in years) so I can make an appt. Dr. chang called me back. I didn't go last year ( because I was waiting on my insurance) so when she called me back I was genuinely happy to hear from her. I asked her how she was and that it's been a while and i joked that hopefully she remembers me. She replied with a VERY stern "No. I don't. What insurance do you have". I told her my ins, in which she said she doesn't accept it anymore. I said "oh no! Then she followed up by saying " Do you have any more questions"? And of course I was like oh man, I've been with you for so long Dr, you don't remember me?! We used to talk about some personal matters, she talked to me about God etc. Well she cut me off while talking and again very RUDELY she says "Do you have any more questions"? I was going to tell her I would just pay out of pocket and AGAIN CUTS ME OFF and says "Do you have any more questions"? At that point I politely said to her that there was no reason for her to be rude to me and she AGAIN says "Do you have any more questions"? I said " no , that's it. Take care'. Dr. Chang has become even more hostile over the years. She used to talk about God and Bible quotes. Dr. Chang, you need to look to God and ask him why you treated me this way today and look deep within yourself to work on yourself because I am not the only one you've talked down to. You can see on her negative reviews on Google and yelp that it's a pattern that she's VERY rude to people. Back in 2014 I left a five star review on Yelp bc back then all the reviews that mattered were on Yelp not Google. Today, is a VERY different review . I'm not sure if she's unhappy in life or disgruntled that she has to do extra work bc she doesn't want to hire any one to help her but she has changed as a person for the worst. Dr. Yang Chang is not only the best optometrist, but she is also the most compassionate person around. Anyone would be lucky to be her patient! Dr. Chang is very kind, patient, caring and quite funny to boot. She's an excellent doctor. I hate going to the optometrist, truly, but I find it a pleasure to go and see her. She takes amerigroup, and anyone with NJ familycare will understand how hard pressed you may be to find a decent, let alone wonderful practitioner in any field. Dr. Chang was very friendly, informative, knowledgeable, and unpretentious. She took the time to fit me into the next slot (which turned out to be cancelled over the phone) even though I was 20 minutes late for my eye examination appointment and it being during lunchtime. Filling out the form with my information was quite simple and easy. She didn't try to upsell anything, wasn't pushy, and offered her unadulterated advice to the questions I had. I wasn't rushed at all, and she performed a thorough eye examination. There weren't any issues with her accepting my insurance either. This was my first time here and I felt like she has been my doctor for years. Additionally, Dr. Chang accepted my own frame that I brought for my eyeglasses prescription that virtually every other store or optometry office I've inquired refused due to it being of "poor quality" (it isn't and it's most likely due to them wanting me to buy one from them instead). She even offered to reimburse me for these frames in the event that they broke during the prescription lenses process as long as I had a receipt with the cost of purchase. The first time I met Dr. Chang she seemed nice, but a few months later when I called her to inquire about an issue, she was a completely different person - very sharp, curt and unfriendly. There are plenty of eye care professionals around who are normal and not Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. She asked about what insurance I had and she rudely interrupted me and falsely stated she "forgot" to mention she wasn't accepting new patients after I told her my insurance information. Was a customer at this clinic, called to ask some questions and she was so rude. When i call she keeps telling me shes busy and to call back. Then she says her system is down and cannot help me. My insurance was ending soon so i needed her help to get another lens but she said to call back in another couple of weeks because her system is down. If you are so busy why dont you get some help to answer the phone? You are an eye doctor and it will take you weeks to get your system up? Ridiculous. She wouldnt even give me a chance to finish speaking and just hung up. Dont go to this doctor, she is crazy. She even told me if i cant wait for their system to be up i should find anothet doctor. Called to move an appointment a couple days out due to a funeral (which I told them) and was told to get my appointment schedule in order and stop moving appointments, then hung up on. I did move an appointment previously but that was due to being displaced from my home due to mold found. Compassion is obviously not in their vocabulary. read more

Positive: 1) Her office is clean. 2) She remembers you if you go to her and buy expensive frames or if you're a regular. 3) She is "thorough" in her examination. 4) She is willing to close a half hour later than her store hours to make sure I get proper exams. 5) She is concerned for patient driving safety. 6) She called me herself to verify our appointment, or cancel it during a snowstorm. Negative: 1) She did not read my DocStoc entry which I took the time to fill out prior to visiting her. 2) She did not listen to me when I told her that I saw a dot instead of a letter. 3) She under-prescribed me by a value of 125 on both eyes. 4) I understand I am severely myopic - but she had to repeat the comment over and over again that I lost count at "5" during my first visit, and "7" during my second visit. 5) I told her I'd rather come in to pick up my glasses or contacts instead of have either mailed. She insisted on mailing them to me until i firmly told her, no - I want to come in and said it in the most severe manner as possible rather than with a smile. 6) She pushed me to get branded frames. I understand - those Tom Ford, Coach, Nike glasses may be manufactured better than the $100 no-name frames I like on my face. But, I prefered the $100 frames and they work for me. 7) When there are multiple customers inside her office, she does not let her assistant handle the rest; and jumps from customer to customer when we're all in the lobby. It felt chaotic to me. 8) My entire visit cost me around $650 because my insurance does not cover anything for vision. It wouldn't have been so bad if I wasn't underprescribed like I originally complained in my DocStoc forms - and to her verbally during my first visit. 9) I told her the following: when I put the new glasses on, and I look at the floor, the ground curves up toward my feet. I also told her that when i look at something in a long distance (20 ft or so away from me) - it takes a few seconds for my eyes to focus; like I my eyes act as if they were the lens of a camera auto-focusing and taking a while before it snaps a pic. She said nothing regarding my concern. I chalked up my experience to be an entirely expensive, but learning experience. I am never going to this optometrist ever again. read more
