I've never encountered a more difficult insurance agency to work with…read more My first dealing with this office was when someone from the agency requested the loan/purchase agreement for my car. She couldn't tell me, however, which specific documents she needed, so I offered to send the entire thing... which was about 45 pages long. I didn't hear back from them for a while, and when I called in to check on it, the woman proceeded to blame the delay on me because I sent too much info! Both my husband and I were on each others' auto policies, but for some reason, they would only put his name on the insurance cards. This made things... interesting... whenever I had to prove that I was covered under my car's policy. We tried for THREE YEARS to get them to put both of our names on the cards, and each time we were told the next set would show both of us. Each time we got our new cards, though, it only had his name. We eventually just gave up. Lastly, no one in this office seems to know how to use email. First, the woman at the agency asked for those pages from the loan documents I mentioned earlier, she made me send the whole thing by fax, because it's "easier than email" (since when?) Then, when my agent called me after I'd emailed him asking for some insurance documents to be sent to me, I had to spell my email address out to him three times because a) for some reason, he couldn't just pull the email address from the email I'd sent him and b) he didn't know how to spell "protocol". Notice that this is all easy administrative stuff. Can you imagine if I'd had a claim? If I operated in my current job like these guys have, I would have been fired years ago. I've been with this company five years, and have spent the entire time wanting to go elsewhere. I would've done so, too, if it weren't for the fact that our home owners insurance was through them (our mortgage company was so difficult to work with that we were afraid of the problems it would cause if we had to prove home owners coverage all over again). Now that the house is no longer a concern, I'm running as far away as I can! Bottom line: A seeming inability or unwillingness to use current technology (email), unresponsive, unprofessional, unhelpful. Very simply transactions became headaches. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

One thing I always found annoying was their lack of an online payment option. They don't mail you your new cards in advance either, so if you are a procrastinator there is no way to obtain instant proof of insurance, other than going into the office during their limited hours. Our 6 month due date has been on the horizon. This place feels it is acceptable to call every single day, and leave a voicemail reminding me that it is time to pay up. They have even resorted to calling two twice per day now! Well, guess what? That backfired really badly because by the third day of this harassment I was inspired to seek out a quote from Progressive. I thought maybe Acceptance's lack of an online payment option had somehow trickled down to me in the form of a discounted rate...WRONG! Not only is Flo giving me a better price, she allows me to obtain e-proof from my cell, print out my cards immediately, and make changes to my policy online. After my father's job relocated us back to the Chicagoland area 20 years ago, my father obtained…read morehis car and renter's insurance with Mark at State Farm. When I turned 16, I was added to his policy, and my sister as well a few years later when she turned 16 and we both needed car insurance. The various discounts available helped get us a good rate. After many new car changes, removal of my sister when she married, addition of my step sister and step mother when my dad re-married, we still received low rates for great coverage. At 21, I was foolish and got a DUI and when my father called Mark, he just laughed and said "kids will be kids." My rate didn't increase. Even with other incidents (a not-fault accident I was in, a speeding ticket, etc) my rate never increased. Fast foward 8 years, and I moved out on my own. I branched off of my dad's policy and obtained my own for car and renter's insurance. The bf had Esurance or some crap, so I made him leave and he joined my policy. Not only did that help again with multiple discounts, but Esurance was charging him 6 times what Mark quoted him for his vehicle. That's huge! Needless to say, the bf was thrilled. Esurance considered the bf a "high risk" driver.... not sure what criteria they used to determine that, but apparently it didn't matter with SF. He was ecstatic that he would no longer pay such a high premium for lousy coverage. Just last month, a deer ran out straight into the bf's car. The damage didn't seem too terrible (I had my own deer experience ten years ago with far worse damage). State Farm gave us a reputable body shop to repair the car and set us up with a very nice rental car with Enterprise. Thanks to comprehensive, we didn't pay a dime. If we didn't have comprehensive, the bill would have been our responsibility - a grand total of over $5200! For a mere $103 per month for two vehicles (one with full coverage, the other with full coverage - collision) and renter's insurance... I am more than pleased. Everytime we have a question or need to update something on our policy, Mark has been extrememly helpful. His assistants are equally helpful the few times Mark was not in the office. He is also quick to respond via e-mail if you choose to go that route. Many months ago, the bf talked about insurance shopping, because he felt that we could get a better rate, despite my longtime relationship with Mark and State Farm. After the deer incident, he has changed his tune and agreed State Farm is the way to go. I couldn't agree more. It would take a LOT to make me change insurance companies. Kudos to Mark Lathrop and State Farm.
