Tinyyyyyyy Harrods!…read more This one is located at the London airport. It has some things to look at and show, but not a lot there. This small store takes about 5 minutes to go from one side to another. When you first walk in, there's trinkets and things to the right. Pens, stationary and little knick knacks. Pretty cute items that are inexpensive. As you continue walking around, you start to see more expensive items. Watches and high end purses. Very nice and high quality items.

However, if you're at London Gatwick airport, and waiting for your next flight to Rome... well then, there's a small Harrods for higher end Brit souvenirs and knickknacks that can be had. A porcelain tea cup for aunt Mimi? Harrods at London Gatwick North is a fun spot to browse, of course you won't get the exceptional service you'll receive at Knightsbridge, nonetheless it still has what you need like British keychains for Uncle Vinny in Rome. I was also surprised how much Harrods bears could fit in this tiny location, including the six-foot bear at the door! On my stop here I did pickup a small London Taxi toy car for my nephew and a couple small girl bears for my nieces. For me, I did pickup a very fancy British Harrods leather card holder, but that was at the Knightsbridge location. It's the Anglophile in me! In the end, if at London Gatwick airport and looking to kill time, a quick stop at Harrods might be worth your loose Pence. Clive was pleasant and you're allowed to browse around looking for whatever you're looking for. Just don't expect Duchess Kate in here... she's at Knightsbridge in High Tea! Ta.

This outlet is not duty free. Their markup is enormous. I bought a camera bag (Lowepro Event…read moreMessenger 100) and thought I was paying £24 by card for what is usually a £28 item. However, when when my credit card bill arrived I found that I'd paid £44. A phone call to the manager (nice enough guy) only elicited the response that it was the correct price and that he didn't set the prices. I then questioned the fact that the Dixons Travel website stated their prices as being lower than outside stores or the internet inc such as John Lewis and Amazon. The manager replied that this only applies to hardware (how hard does something have to be - to be called hardware, after all the bag isn't software). It also seems that the buyer needs to quote these cheaper prices at the time of purchase or reservation. While there I noticed that a Fuji XE1 camera (definite hardware), was priced much higher than outside stores or internet. Previously when I've browsed the Dixons Travel stores I've noted that Nikon cameras and lenses are also much more expensive than outside stores and internet. The best advice I can give is: DON'T BUY AT ANY DIXONS RETAIL OUTLET! The Currys/PC world stores may be a little better than they once were under the Dixons banner for price and service but it seems that the name DIXONS (for whom my son-in-law was once a Dixons area manager - and hated their selling practices), carries with it a continuance of the same outrageous prices and practices as of old.
