Read this before you have access do your garage door!! TERRIBLE customer service. The garage door opener is garbage. I have 3 fobs, the two from access dont work. The opener is non conventional and you cannot find the learn button to program. The manual does not tell you how to program other openers so they can gouge you for $60 to buy an opener from them -- which do not work well. The two I have don't work. The $10 one from amazon is the only one that does.. I cannot get ahold of any technician. They said they would call me back they have not. I have called 3 more times and left messages - no response. if there is good in the world then Rick and Zack embodies it!!! Are deprogrammed a brand new remote because I didn't follow the directions properly. So I panicked and called the very first hit. I got on Google a young man came out didn't seem to know what he was doing. He told me a multiplicity of things like my motor was broken, the remote was broken and he proceeded to sell me a "brand new" remote. Turns out, after charging me $240 some of it for the fee to come out and some of it for the remote, they were ripping me off. I came home and the "new" remote was completely broken so this morning I called Access, which is what I should've done in the beginning. They never even charged me a service call fee. Rick was kind, respectful, and professional. He ended up reprogramming the so-called broken brand new remote that I had and it works perfectly. I highly recommend this company! read more

The ease of scheduling someone to come look at my system, followed by getting an installation appointment while they were her and showing my the best option for my new opener. low quality at high prices-- unremarkable installation and takes forever to finish -- low low low quality parts They outsource the stain, or rather make you go do it so that they arn't liable for anything... and the stain will show the fact that they can't match the wood parts so it looks like you have 2 or 3 different colors on your expensive door you just bought, when it should be uniform Locks and handles are Emtek brand... which is a mid grade brand you can just buy on Amazon for way less.. not high end at all Garage door openers are also grade brand liftmaster.. nothing special. Hinges are low grade and bend with less than 100 lbs of pressure on them... This husband and wife company has no clue what high quality is, and should be installing wal-mart brands only. read more

Our old fiberglass garage doors cracked last winter and could not be repaired. I saw this as a sign that we should get new wood doors (the ones that look like they came off an old barn). I researched CostCo, Home Depot, and Lowes. All three are basically the same product/price. Once you start selecting the woods, stains and hardware, the prices go up very quickly! Plus, you had to pay someone to come out to your house, even if you decided not to buy! I had heard about Access from a friend, but never thought we'd be able to afford it. Well, the guy that came to our house (Sean) was very nice and showed us a lot of options. He was very respectful of our budget. We were able to create a custom design with hardware for just slightly more than the stock-product from the other chain stores. The lead time for order to installation took longer than we'd expected (about 8 weeks) but it was well worth the wait. Our new doors are gorgeous and have significantly raised our curb appeal! I do not like to give negative reviews - but dealing with Access was a bad experience. Initially I emailed them for more information. They returned my call later that day. But after that - It was so difficult to get ahold of them. I would leave messages and email them and they wouldn't get back to me. I finally drove up there and they seemed very apologetic. But as soon as I left..."crickets." I was told that they were super busy with some big contracts. Really? Too busy to answer a question? I finally emailed them and said I would not be purchasing my new garage door through them. In my opinion - they are short staffed and don't have time for the "little guy." What a bunch of scammers! Garage door was reopening every time we closed it- as soon as it hit the bottom it would reopen. Access Guy came out to service it. Said he has to "reprogram it" to know where to start and stop but that if that didn't work I would need a new opener. So then he spent about 30 seconds pushing a few buttons and says "nope, it can't be fixed. You need a new opener" and then hands me a quote for $1200 for one garage door opener... So then we get smart and order an opener for $400 from Home Depot. The install guy sent by Home depot comes over and says "what's wrong with your opener?" and we tell him and then he says "Oh it's just missing a piece on the belt that tells it where to stop" . So he gets the thing out of his truck and puts it on for no charge and our door is working again- and now we are returning the new opening to Home Depot. Access Overhead Door is all about marketing and salesmanship. They are over priced, and under deliver. They were late for the site visits and then provided a song and dance story to say that my garage door motor failed because it was only a 1/2 horsepower motor and it was used every day for a year and that is why the motor needed replacement. They then recommended a 1.0 horsepower motor. Access was the original installer and according to their lead installer originally undersized the motor for the size of the door. If that wasn't enough they proceeded to quote $2800 to replace the motor. I called and explained the situation to the office manager and asked if they could consider these facts and replace the motor at a reduced price. She said she would speak to the owner, Braden, and get back to me. After several days of waiting for a return call that I never received, I decided to call some other Garage door Companies. I was able to find a 5 star rated Company that replaced the motor with a top quality motor for $800. Access price gouges($2800 for an $800 Job) and attempted to take advantage of its customer. The garage door and opener were installed 6 years ago, prior to my purchase of the house. The doors are classy, finished & stained wood. They are so handsome that I decided that the company should be given an opportunity to fix a glitch in the garage door opener. I wish I had called Access first. Instead I called Neighborhood Garage Door Services (formerly Garage Door Services.) They were sleazy, unprofessional, and wanted $900 to replace a motor, which later turned out to be in perfect working order. Do not use Neighborhood. My problem was simple and minor: Upon closing the the garage door, sometime the door would only travel a door; then stop. Press again it was ok. A quirk, not a big problem. The Access technician (John) diagnosed that the spring needed a slight adjustment, which he performed for the total cost of $158 ($99 for the house call and $59 for the repair.). I would not hesitate to use them again. And if you are interested in installing nice wooden doors I would recommend Access. read more

I had these guys make custom garage doors for me. When the representative came out (I should use his name, but I won't) to discuss the job, I was OVERLY clear about what I wanted. I had wood paneling around the outside of the garage door, and I wanted that replaced along with the garage doors, because if you just replaced the garage door and not the paneling, it would be ugly as can be and stick out like a sore thumb because those two pieces were the same color, and I was going in a whole new direction. So not only was it going to be obviously ugly without replacing both, I also made it clear when we talked that I wanted everything replaced. I was told yes, we'd take care of it. When they were working on the job, the guy they used to stain the doors was talking with me about it, and I asked him when they were going to pull the wood panels. He told me he didn't think they did that, and said I should call them. I did, and they told me they didn't do that kind of work (Basically, it was pulling the wood off the stucco, and then putting the stucco back) and I was out of luck. So now I'm stuck with both the new and the old parts of the garage door which totally clashed. At that point, I'm wondering when I went over the project with their representative, why I wasn't told that, when they easily told me over the phone they didn't do that kind of work. My initial thought is they told me what I wanted to hear to get the job, and then did something different. Quite frankly, either the representative didn't pay attention when giving the bid, or he flat out lied to me, not sure which. This led to me having to go out and find someone else to take care of the work, which not only significantly increased the price to do the job, but significantly delayed the project completion. Now in trying to be fair, they did give me a quote, which I did approve. However, it was in layman's terms, and In looking at the document, what I thought was the replacement of the wood paneling obviously wasn't. I had been told things would be taken care of, so I didn't think I needed clarification. I would have taken them to court, and I've never sued anyone, but I realized that I didn't have a legal leg to stand on. The purpose of this review, is to hopefully make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future, because my review isn't the only review questioning the business ethics of this company. If you do use them, you need to be beyond specific in clear basic English what is being agreed upon. The final piece was the garage door. It actually turned out beautiful, and as I've said, I will be fair and honest with this review. I love the doors, but I literally started this process over a year ago, and this Saturday I should finally have the stucco completed, which is being done by a totally different company. In the end, as beautiful as the doors are, I can't in good conscience give them a better score then a 2, because of the lack of business ethics. And if you're wondering if I would use them again because the doors turned out nice? Absolutely not! Other companies also do good work. My garage door broke one night just after I got home. I couldn't close the door and didn't feel safe leaving it open all night. I called Access, and someone came out in about an hour. He didn't have all the parts he needed, so he manually closed the door and came back the next day at the appointed time and did the work. He was friendly and efficient and didn't charge extra for every little thing. I'm glad I didn't have time to read the other reviews, or I wouldn't have called them. When you have an emergency, you do a Google search and hope for the best. I went to one web site first and didn't trust them because they had countless coupons. To me that said that they were overcharging to begin with. I don't know if I could have gotten the work done for less - but I got it on time and well done and am happy to pay for the service. Probably because my project only cost just over $3k, I was immediately put on the back burner getting postponed twice. I'm sure the fact that they already had my deposit came up made it easy for them to bump me for other more lucrative jobs. After they finally came out and out the door in, they left it without it shutting all the way, really?!? Reluctantly, they came back out and said the reason why the door wouldn't shut is because I didn't buy a motor. They told me this as if EVERYONE knows you only get a door that shuts 90% of the way unless you have a motorized garage door. Eventually after I threatened to take them to small claims and major attitude from the sales guy, they came back out and adjusted the rails so the door would shut all the way. Love Access Garage Door. I had them upgrade my garage doors in one house and they were great, from suggesting designs and motors all the way through install. In my current house we have a gorgeous wood door but the motor was really loud. With the master bedroom over the garage, I called to see if they had any ideas. One service call later and an upgraded motor and I get to sleep later even if my husband is out on dawn patrol. I've been a customer for about 15 years now and I've been able to get appointments quickly, good solutions, and same day installs. When I called this week on a Sunday, they gave me a solution to get the door down and noted a weekday service call, which is less expensive than a weekend call, might be preferable. (It was.) Called back Monday and was offered a next-day appointment. Turned out our original builder-done wiring had developed a small short and John was able to present my options with pricing and execute my choice during a service call that was less than an hour long. Long story short, the person on the phone interrupted me by speaking with her fellow employees to get them their checks, then transferred me to the person I spoke with the day before. He then said he would have the 'girls in the office' call me to make an appointment. As of Friday afternoon, I still have not received a phone call. My review is more about the installation rather than the quality of the door, although I thought I was getting better quality hardware than I did. I had Access install my garage door in late 2015 on the recommendation of a landscape architect who had designed many home upgrades. I expected that the quality of the work done by Access would be top, given Access' size, but I am disappointed with what I have discovered upon recent failure of the arm to door connection. 1. The panel in which the arm was bolted was a center door panel not a top panel as it should have been. This resulted in a less than reinforced structure within which to bolt the arm to the door. Also only 2 screws held the arm to the door, thus the screws pulled out of the door with the force exerted by the lift. 2. The rails for the door were high rails meant for an 8 foot door. This would have been fine, but the panels do not require the rails to have the diameter that they do; these larger diameter rails require greater lift and heavier tension springs. I have a garage door opening that is slightly larger than 7 feet, so I could have gone with a 7 foot door and closed the gap with wood or an 8 foot door that is a little larger than the opening. Access decided on the 8 foot door. 3. The springs used for the door are not appropriate for an 8 foot door and is underrated for the door we have; also these are not hardened steel springs, but galvanized steel with a shorter life span. Given that they are smaller than the required load for our door, their lifespan will be short. 4. The door was installed out of balance. The door should stay lifted as each roller section is lifted up. The adjustment of the torque on the motor was cranked to its maximum on the left (up) and its minimum on the right (down) providing evidence that the door was out of balance at installation. The door will not stay up on its own and the force on the arm is more than 30 lbs, which should not be the case. This additional strain on both the lift and the down puts strain on the motor and the arm unnecessarily and will lead to early failure of springs, motor, attachments (as happened recently) etc. 5. I was surprised also to learn that the hardware used was of poor quality since I indicated in my request, "I would like upgraded hardware and extended warranty features, unless your installation already include these"; I do not appreciate having to worry about the reliability of my garage door just 3 years after installation. I called to find out whether Access would repair or honor the quality of installation and I was told that Access only gave a 1 year warranty for installed parts, and that I would be charged $150 for a service call plus at least $99 for the cost of repair; here I thought I was getting a lifetime warranty on all but springs, boy was I wrong! Do not use Access, they promise much but deliver little. read more
