Terrible service terrible install. We had a high-end home in La Jolla, where these gentlemen performed work and have neglected to come back to adjust but their sticker still shines high on the opener. We had to put our own Bacharach in the boot because the door had so much daylight... It's time that we call somebody else and offer this information to BBB. Such a bummer we had better hopes! read more

I had a very good experience with this company. JP, Jace and Carlos were professional and easy to work with. The opener Carlos installed works great. It has all the technology we need. Good job, team. read more

Read this before you have access do your garage door!! TERRIBLE customer service. The garage door opener is garbage. I have 3 fobs, the two from access dont work. The opener is non conventional and you cannot find the learn button to program. The manual does not tell you how to program other openers so they can gouge you for $60 to buy an opener from them -- which do not work well. The two I have don't work. The $10 one from amazon is the only one that does.. I cannot get ahold of any technician. They said they would call me back they have not. I have called 3 more times and left messages - no response. They wanted to charge me to have a tech come out to pair up an opener. What a joke. DO NOT GET THIS GARAGE DOOR OPENER! You'll regret it later - like me... read more

No appointment confirmation for 930-1100 arrival window booking. Tech arrived at 10:41 and sat in the truck until 11:00 then rang doorbell. Obviously a broken spring but tried a massive upsell: I needed a WHOLE NEW DOOR! No thanks! Calling next search hit! Two hours later two guys from sd.californiagaragerepair.com showed up. One hour more and they drive away with my $700 and my spring replaced and door working! Speculation? IDK but can 1 guy really fix ANYTHING but simple problems? Can 1 guy replace the spring alone? Doors are bulky! If one guy shows up maybe watch out for a master up-seller. Good Luck! read more

Couldn't be happier with Access. I had my garage door opener replaced today and between the salesman, customer service, installer and the actual opener everything and everyone was/is 5 star plus. The ease of scheduling someone to come look at my system, followed by getting an installation appointment while they were her and showing my the best option for my new opener. Oh may I mention they make the quietest open ever!!!!! So much that my cat didn't even know we came in the house lol! You won't be disappointed calling Access and you will be in good hands with them!!! read more

if there is good in the world then Rick and Zack embodies it!!! Are deprogrammed a brand new remote because I didn't follow the directions properly. So I panicked and called the very first hit. I got on Google a young man came out didn't seem to know what he was doing. He told me a multiplicity of things like my motor was broken, the remote was broken and he proceeded to sell me a "brand new" remote. Turns out, after charging me $240 some of it for the fee to come out and some of it for the remote, they were ripping me off. I came home and the "new" remote was completely broken so this morning I called Access, which is what I should've done in the beginning. They never even charged me a service call fee. Rick was kind, respectful, and professional. He ended up reprogramming the so-called broken brand new remote that I had and it works perfectly. I highly recommend this company! read more

I've only ever used Access. Their service is top notch! I recently had an issue with my door not opening and it was making a weird sound. Access came out the same day, diagnosed the issue, repaired it on the spot and even added extra lubricant to my springs. I swear my garage has never been quieter! I'm thinking of upgrading my doors and front gate and I won't hesitate to use them! read more

We've used Access for many years and really disappointed that on a recent visit they charged $560 for a single spring on a single garage door which should cost around $250. This was confirmed by another company who did on site visit.,It's really not okay to overcharge an old client to this extent. read more

Fantastic company. Have used them several times. On the phone Stephanie is extremely polite and helpful. In January John Huston came out to reset the code on my garage door opener. John is an absolute gem. He installed the opener in 2016. He is very professional and friendly. Answers any questions I have. I am delighted to do business with this company. read more

low quality at high prices-- unremarkable installation and takes forever to finish -- low low low quality parts They outsource the stain, or rather make you go do it so that they arn't liable for anything... and the stain will show the fact that they can't match the wood parts so it looks like you have 2 or 3 different colors on your expensive door you just bought, when it should be uniform Locks and handles are Emtek brand... which is a mid grade brand you can just buy on Amazon for way less.. not high end at all Garage door openers are also grade brand liftmaster.. nothing special. Hinges are low grade and bend with less than 100 lbs of pressure on them... This husband and wife company has no clue what high quality is, and should be installing wal-mart brands only. read more

Access Garage is the professional and reliable company that takes interest in our home and safety. We have had new springs and garage motors installed after they snapped or broke after years of use. Our serviceman was John Hudson, an outstanding honest and knowledgeable person. Please ask for John to give you comfort that all will be done in an expert manner. read more

Our old fiberglass garage doors cracked last winter and could not be repaired. I saw this as a sign that we should get new wood doors (the ones that look like they came off an old barn). I researched CostCo, Home Depot, and Lowes. All three are basically the same product/price. Once you start selecting the woods, stains and hardware, the prices go up very quickly! Plus, you had to pay someone to come out to your house, even if you decided not to buy! I had heard about Access from a friend, but never thought we'd be able to afford it. Well, the guy that came to our house (Sean) was very nice and showed us a lot of options. He was very respectful of our budget. We were able to create a custom design with hardware for just slightly more than the stock-product from the other chain stores. The lead time for order to installation took longer than we'd expected (about 8 weeks) but it was well worth the wait. Our new doors are gorgeous and have significantly raised our curb appeal! Thanks Access! read more

My garage door was so loud it would wake up our 7 yr old daughter, whose room was just above the garage. Access came out on time, and with professional installers and equipment, and had our new super quiet motor installed within hours. Afterwards, they explained everything clearly and gave me all the necessary paperwork. I have nothing bad to say about them and our garage door is now super quiet. A massive improvement at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. read more

I dont usually write a review for a service company, because I believe they should provide great service to their clients. However when the service provided goes a little further than what I signed up for, I believe that is worth a strong word of support. Rick helped me program both my wife and my cars to open and close the doors using the vehicle software rather than using a ugly remote attached to the sun visor. This took time, but he was patient and so helpful, which was very much appreciated by both my wife and I. That little extra help from Access I believe separates the company from the "Also Rans" read more

We have had Braden provide us with service for the last 15 years. The company and he have always been very timely and thorough and always a pleasure to work with. We've had our gorgeous garage door since 2002 when Access Garage Door helped us design it, had it manufactured, then installed it. The garage door completely transformed the front of our house and we still get compliments on it! They've done maintenance for us in the past 12 years as well and the service is always fantastic. Access Garage Door always exceed our expectations and we can attest to a very high-quality product. Our garage door looks as good as the day it was installed 12 years ago! read more

I do not like to give negative reviews - but dealing with Access was a bad experience. Initially I emailed them for more information. They returned my call later that day. But after that - It was so difficult to get ahold of them. I would leave messages and email them and they wouldn't get back to me. I finally drove up there and they seemed very apologetic. But as soon as I left..."crickets." I was told that they were super busy with some big contracts. Really? Too busy to answer a question? I finally emailed them and said I would not be purchasing my new garage door through them. In my opinion - they are short staffed and don't have time for the "little guy." I recommend Precision Garage Door. They are on it! read more

What a bunch of scammers! Garage door was reopening every time we closed it- as soon as it hit the bottom it would reopen. Access Guy came out to service it. Said he has to "reprogram it" to know where to start and stop but that if that didn't work I would need a new opener. So then he spent about 30 seconds pushing a few buttons and says "nope, it can't be fixed. You need a new opener" and then hands me a quote for $1200 for one garage door opener... So then we get smart and order an opener for $400 from Home Depot. The install guy sent by Home depot comes over and says "what's wrong with your opener?" and we tell him and then he says "Oh it's just missing a piece on the belt that tells it where to stop" . So he gets the thing out of his truck and puts it on for no charge and our door is working again- and now we are returning the new opening to Home Depot. Access just wants to rip people off for no reason. Total scammers/crooks. read more

Access Overhead Door is all about marketing and salesmanship. They are over priced, and under deliver. They were late for the site visits and then provided a song and dance story to say that my garage door motor failed because it was only a 1/2 horsepower motor and it was used every day for a year and that is why the motor needed replacement. They then recommended a 1.0 horsepower motor. Access was the original installer and according to their lead installer originally undersized the motor for the size of the door. If that wasn't enough they proceeded to quote $2800 to replace the motor. I called and explained the situation to the office manager and asked if they could consider these facts and replace the motor at a reduced price. She said she would speak to the owner, Braden, and get back to me. After several days of waiting for a return call that I never received, I decided to call some other Garage door Companies. I was able to find a 5 star rated Company that replaced the motor with a top quality motor for $800. Access price gouges($2800 for an $800 Job) and attempted to take advantage of its customer. I would not use them on your home or Project. read more

The garage door and opener were installed 6 years ago, prior to my purchase of the house. The doors are classy, finished & stained wood. They are so handsome that I decided that the company should be given an opportunity to fix a glitch in the garage door opener. I wish I had called Access first. Instead I called Neighborhood Garage Door Services (formerly Garage Door Services.) They were sleazy, unprofessional, and wanted $900 to replace a motor, which later turned out to be in perfect working order. Do not use Neighborhood. My problem was simple and minor: Upon closing the the garage door, sometime the door would only travel a door; then stop. Press again it was ok. A quirk, not a big problem. The Access technician (John) diagnosed that the spring needed a slight adjustment, which he performed for the total cost of $158 ($99 for the house call and $59 for the repair.). I would not hesitate to use them again. And if you are interested in installing nice wooden doors I would recommend Access. read more

We had Access install our custom garage doors over ten years ago. We've had nothing but excellent service. In those ten plus years, they've always been prompt and the quality of service is top notch. Rick has been our service representative for many, if not all these years. Today was no different. I had him out for a routine tune up. He arrived well before our appt. (with a phone call prior) and as usual, he completed a thorough inspection and made minor adjustments. The garage doors were a big investment but we've never regretted purchasing them through Access. Worth every penny. read more

Great service and prices, I had Rick come out and replace my garage door springs since they were undersized for my door and he also replaced my door rollers with new quiet glide rollers, it took him a little over an hour to knock out the job and he was very kind and friendly and he wasn't trying to sell me anything more then I needed and wanted, my garage door opens and closes with zero issues now and is quiet, thanks again Rick and Access Custom Door & Gate. read more

Not sure why anyone would give Access Garage Doors less than 5 stars. They provide quality work (great quality custom doors), at a fair price and great follow up with warranty. My garage door broke one night just after I got home. I couldn't close the door and didn't feel safe leaving it open all night. I called Access, and someone came out in about an hour. He didn't have all the parts he needed, so he manually closed the door and came back the next day at the appointed time and did the work. He was friendly and efficient and didn't charge extra for every little thing. I'm glad I didn't have time to read the other reviews, or I wouldn't have called them. When you have an emergency, you do a Google search and hope for the best. I went to one web site first and didn't trust them because they had countless coupons. To me that said that they were overcharging to begin with. I don't know if I could have gotten the work done for less - but I got it on time and well done and am happy to pay for the service. My experience was not at all like the numerous one star reviews here. read more

I had these guys make custom garage doors for me. When the representative came out (I should use his name, but I won't) to discuss the job, I was OVERLY clear about what I wanted. I had wood paneling around the outside of the garage door, and I wanted that replaced along with the garage doors, because if you just replaced the garage door and not the paneling, it would be ugly as can be and stick out like a sore thumb because those two pieces were the same color, and I was going in a whole new direction. So not only was it going to be obviously ugly without replacing both, I also made it clear when we talked that I wanted everything replaced. I was told yes, we'd take care of it. When they were working on the job, the guy they used to stain the doors was talking with me about it, and I asked him when they were going to pull the wood panels. He told me he didn't think they did that, and said I should call them. I did, and they told me they didn't do that kind of work (Basically, it was pulling the wood off the stucco, and then putting the stucco back) and I was out of luck. So now I'm stuck with both the new and the old parts of the garage door which totally clashed. At that point, I'm wondering when I went over the project with their representative, why I wasn't told that, when they easily told me over the phone they didn't do that kind of work. My initial thought is they told me what I wanted to hear to get the job, and then did something different. Quite frankly, either the representative didn't pay attention when giving the bid, or he flat out lied to me, not sure which. This led to me having to go out and find someone else to take care of the work, which not only significantly increased the price to do the job, but significantly delayed the project completion. Now in trying to be fair, they did give me a quote, which I did approve. However, it was in layman's terms, and In looking at the document, what I thought was the replacement of the wood paneling obviously wasn't. I had been told things would be taken care of, so I didn't think I needed clarification. I would have taken them to court, and I've never sued anyone, but I realized that I didn't have a legal leg to stand on. The purpose of this review, is to hopefully make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future, because my review isn't the only review questioning the business ethics of this company. If you do use them, you need to be beyond specific in clear basic English what is being agreed upon. The final piece was the garage door. It actually turned out beautiful, and as I've said, I will be fair and honest with this review. I love the doors, but I literally started this process over a year ago, and this Saturday I should finally have the stucco completed, which is being done by a totally different company. In the end, as beautiful as the doors are, I can't in good conscience give them a better score then a 2, because of the lack of business ethics. And if you're wondering if I would use them again because the doors turned out nice? Absolutely not! Other companies also do good work. I will take my business to a company that is honest and fully engaged in my project. My scale 1-10, with 10 being the best: Honesty - ? (Only the rep knows the truth regarding what happened.) Engagement - 3 Communication - 1 Price - 6 Quality - 9 read more

Love Access Garage Door. I had them upgrade my garage doors in one house and they were great, from suggesting designs and motors all the way through install. In my current house we have a gorgeous wood door but the motor was really loud. With the master bedroom over the garage, I called to see if they had any ideas. One service call later and an upgraded motor and I get to sleep later even if my husband is out on dawn patrol. I've been a customer for about 15 years now and I've been able to get appointments quickly, good solutions, and same day installs. When I called this week on a Sunday, they gave me a solution to get the door down and noted a weekday service call, which is less expensive than a weekend call, might be preferable. (It was.) Called back Monday and was offered a next-day appointment. Turned out our original builder-done wiring had developed a small short and John was able to present my options with pricing and execute my choice during a service call that was less than an hour long. You can't go wrong with Access Garage Door and gate whether you want a minor service call or a major replacement. read more

What customer service? On a Thursday afternoon I called for a repair service and was told I would be getting a call to schedule a time. Friday morning I called to find out when a tech would be out. Long story short, the person on the phone interrupted me by speaking with her fellow employees to get them their checks, then transferred me to the person I spoke with the day before. He then said he would have the 'girls in the office' call me to make an appointment. As of Friday afternoon, I still have not received a phone call. I wound up using Dr. Garage Door Repair, and will be putting a positive review on their Yelp page. Mad I didn't check here first. :( read more

Like a couple other unfortunate reviews, I was extremely let down by their level of service and business ethics. Probably because my project only cost just over $3k, I was immediately put on the back burner getting postponed twice. I'm sure the fact that they already had my deposit came up made it easy for them to bump me for other more lucrative jobs. After they finally came out and out the door in, they left it without it shutting all the way, really?!? Reluctantly, they came back out and said the reason why the door wouldn't shut is because I didn't buy a motor. They told me this as if EVERYONE knows you only get a door that shuts 90% of the way unless you have a motorized garage door. Eventually after I threatened to take them to small claims and major attitude from the sales guy, they came back out and adjusted the rails so the door would shut all the way. Their claim that it needed a motor to shut was simply a lie and I called them on it. These guys are crooks, buy from somebody else at all cost. read more
