Today I visited The Diamond Factory of Ann Arbor inside of Briarwood Mall. The store had a sign…read moreoutside claiming "WE BUY GOLD & Diamonds Highest Price Paid Guaranteed" which led me to believe that I would be presented with a fair and reasonable offer for my 2+ gram, 14K white gold engagement ring with two small side diamonds. A 2 gram 14K white gold melt value is $99. The spot price of gold is currently $2,633.53/ounce as of 12/7/24. The manager (supposedly named Victor) and his sales associate (Rafi) offered me only $56 for the ring, despite me already having a prior offer for $250. Victor (real name apparently Vicken Tufenkjian according to public state filings) even claimed that the store didn't have an owner when confronted about his false and misleading sign. Victor also refused to tell me his full name when I told him that I was going to file a complaint. At one point he even tried to falsely claim that my ring wasn't actually gold. To make matters worse, when I returned to the store and explained to Victor that other jewelers inside of Briarwood quoted my ring at around $400, he called the mall police to try to intimidate me instead of addressing my concerns professionally. Five allied security guards along with an Ann Arbor police officer were unnecessarily called on me. I left the store and immediately filed a complaint with the FTC. This experience was extremely frustrating, inconvenient, and disturbing. Please steer clear of this store and go somewhere where you will be treated fairly. PS: if you have bought any jewelry at this store in the past I would strongly suggest that you have it checked for authenticity by another jeweler.

First time buyer at Kay's and will not be returning. I purchased a Lifetime Warranty for a piece…read more When that piece broke and they were unable to repair it, the piece had to be replaced with a new item. They said I would have to repurchase the lifetime warranty again for the "new" piece. Original lifetime warranty was $75 for a $200 (original price $300) piece. Purchasing another warranty would've costed me a total of $140. Almost as much as buying a whole new piece. Would highly recommend supporting a local jeweler instead because this type of scenario only happens with a large corporate business.

Then comes Kamryn .. very pushy lady who stole me from the girl who was truly trying to help me . She constantly pushed rings down my throat after I had made it clear , several times that I didn't like those styles/cuts . I thought I found a ring I'd like when she lied about the cut of the diamond . I'm not sure if she was that inexperienced or if she thought I was that stupid . Although she quoted me a price of around $2,800 for the ring , the wedding band and a warranty before tax . I let my boyfriend know (who is active duty military in california) & he tried to secure the ring . I didn't know until after he purchased it online with Kamryn's help that the price was increased . She had no explanation as to why he had to pay $4,100 over the phone , instead of what she quoted me . Obviously this did not sit well with me . The manager at this Kay's (Ahmed or something similar) made it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to return this ring . He even told my boyfriend he can "sit on hold until he has the time to deal with this" as there were "two customers in the store for Black Friday" .... extremely unprofessional and truly just childish . We got the ring returned after a wonderful customer service representative , Naydean , escalated the chain of command & her boss chewed out this store manager . They will truly do anything for a sale , whether it's lying , scamming , beating around the bush or plainly just ignoring you . I do not recommend this jeweler to anyone & that includes Zales as I was told at my consultation they are of the same brands .
