Since then I had been wanting to get a nice piece of jewelry with a ruby (her birthstone) in her memory but hadn't quite found the right piece yet. On New Year's Eve I spent the night at my mom's and slept in my grandma's old room. Plugging in my phone charger under her bed I found a box of some of her belongings, including her wedding ring: a simple, gold band. I had the idea to use the band as the base for a new ring, maybe just adding a simple ruby to it. I asked my mom if she would be ok with that and not only was she ok with it she said she might have just the thing and she pulled out a box of old jewelry my grandma brought from Poland, including the most gorgeous ruby ring with diamonds. The band on that one was fairly thin and together we decided that it would be amazing to take that setting and put it on the wedding band. We also found another, smaller ruby ring that we decided to give to my cousin, her only other grandchild, for her 15 birthday this week. It needed some TLC (cleaning up and straightening the band). I immediately knew that the only ones I would trust with these heirlooms would be The Diamond Factory. The next day I went in and told them the story of finding the rings and what we had hoped we could get done. They said it was no problem at all and took my measurements to fit the new ringer properly. A week later (today) I got a text saying the order was ready and I raced to the store right after work to pick them up. I got so emotional when they showed me the finished piece. It was PERFECT. The combining of the two rings is gorgeous and they cleaned it up so beautifully. Photos don't do the sparkle any justice! It's such a special piece that will now be so dear to our family. They also did an amazing job with the ring for my cousin. The delicate, smaller ring is the perfect heirloom to pass on to a teen girl as her first piece of fine jewelry and they made it look like new. I can't wait to give it to her. Thank you for helping us honor my grandma (and grandpa since it was their wedding band!) in such a special way, Diamond Factory! Today I visited The Diamond Factory of Ann Arbor inside of Briarwood Mall. The store had a sign…read moreoutside claiming "WE BUY GOLD & Diamonds Highest Price Paid Guaranteed" which led me to believe that I would be presented with a fair and reasonable offer for my 2+ gram, 14K white gold engagement ring with two small side diamonds. A 2 gram 14K white gold melt value is $99. The spot price of gold is currently $2,633.53/ounce as of 12/7/24. The manager (supposedly named Victor) and his sales associate (Rafi) offered me only $56 for the ring, despite me already having a prior offer for $250. Victor (real name apparently Vicken Tufenkjian according to public state filings) even claimed that the store didn't have an owner when confronted about his false and misleading sign. Victor also refused to tell me his full name when I told him that I was going to file a complaint. At one point he even tried to falsely claim that my ring wasn't actually gold. To make matters worse, when I returned to the store and explained to Victor that other jewelers inside of Briarwood quoted my ring at around $400, he called the mall police to try to intimidate me instead of addressing my concerns professionally. Five allied security guards along with an Ann Arbor police officer were unnecessarily called on me. I left the store and immediately filed a complaint with the FTC. This experience was extremely frustrating, inconvenient, and disturbing. Please steer clear of this store and go somewhere where you will be treated fairly. PS: if you have bought any jewelry at this store in the past I would strongly suggest that you have it checked for authenticity by another jeweler.

The selection is great and they always have new stuff coming in, many of which are new with tags. Be sure to set aside at least an hour to browse through all the clothing, shoes, and accessories they have. The upstairs has the sale racks and the markdowns can be massive especially for end of the season clothes. I scored a new with tags lined leather black skirt for $8 and a pair of white NYDJ jeans for $12. I've never left empty handed. I don't live in Michigan anymore but my mom does so every time I'm in town this is a must visit!

I had been to a few other jewelers in A2, but the Abra crew were the only ones who didn't try to shame me into buying a newer, larger stone! I was nervous about the full custom design process, as all I had were some examples of details I thought would look nice and some vague memories of what my now-fiancée showed me on Pinterest. However, Amanda was wonderful to work with on the design and did a very good job at turning my ideas into a detailed sketch. Natalie did an equally amazing job at manufacturing the actual ring--the final product turned out beautifully and showcases my Gigi's stone perfectly. Neither my fiancée nor I can resist staring at the ring for long periods of time :) They also were more than willing to make sure that the ring was kept a secret! They were very competitive on price. Even with the fully custom design, we were able to make design changes within my budget. Better still, they only use conflict-free stones when buying new and they have hypoallergenic alloys available. Even if my fiancée and I move away from the A2 area, we will be back to get a matching wedding band when the time arises. Highly, highly recommend.

We took it back today to get resized and the woman was great with measuring my finger to get an accurate ring size. While there, she asked if we wanted the lifetime protection which we opted for. It includes damage, shipping, resizing, etc and because we bought it, our resizing was included. The store is beautiful, clean, and there are lots of goodies everywhere to enjoy while you shop. I also had to use the restroom while there and it smelled bizarrely good and was impeccably clean. Very conveniently located as well, right near eight mile in Novi. This is the second piece of jewelry my husband has bought for me from Tapper's and I'm very impressed!

They said I would have to repurchase the lifetime warranty again for the "new" piece. Original lifetime warranty was $75 for a $200 (original price $300) piece. Purchasing another warranty would've costed me a total of $140. Almost as much as buying a whole new piece. Would highly recommend supporting a local jeweler instead because this type of scenario only happens with a large corporate business.

He retrieved the exact dimensions of the Bean off the internet to get an accurate scale and sent me several wax castings to choose from. He helped me pick the one that would look best with all the other charms, checked all the charms on my bracelet to make sure the jump rings were soldered, and polished the entire bracelet before sending it back to me. There are couches for guests to wait/view the bride in dresses. At first I was worried based on the size of the store that there wouldn't be much selection, but after shopping at almost all of the bridal stores in the Ann Arbor area I was very pleasantly surprised.
