I have been through a Gambit of watches, from Casio to Sinn. I recently purchased two Marathon watches (Arctic MSAR and GSAR) from Greg at WatchMann.com. I was very surprised at the fit and finish of both watches, while they are priced far less than Sinn and Damasko they feel on par (To me at least), plus at their price point I am not afraid to actually wear my watch as intended. Too bad I can't give Greg Stein and WatchMann more than five stars; their after sales service is unparalleled. After much research, I purchased a Damasko DK30 from Watchmann. Beautiful watch although I noticed immediately that the the crown was a grinding out of the box. It kept very accurate time so I felt I could live with the grinding but then it stopped twice in the first few weeks. I contacted Greg and he sent me a return label, prepaid, without any hassle. A new (not refurbished) watch was returned to me in a time frame that worked within my travel schedule. It is a pleasure to buy from a company that cares so much about their customers, especially after the initial sale. I look forward to working with them in the future. (surprised to see no reviews here - esp with all the fawning over at watchuseek) Sent a Hamilton Intramatic (2-hander) (w/ an ETA 2892) and a Damasko DC57 (w/ an ETA 7750). The Hamilton was recently serviced by the NJ Swatch Service Center, but losing time in all positions - sometimes a lot (I have a timegrapher). So I asked if they could please take a look - "sure; send it over". The Damasko is 6 years old. Has been in use for 1/2 of this time (worn on alternate months) with "heavy" use of the chrono function (ca 20 hrs per (alternate) month - timing my daily walks). (Very) likely time for service so "please service it". Result a) Hamilton fixed (regulated and - probably - some adjustment, too - as I do not see the positional variance I saw before). b) "Your Damasko does not need service at this point; send it back to us when it starts performing erratically" 6 stars out of 5 - and this for b) alone (because they got my back - and it ain't common) read more

This might be an odd review in that I have not yet received the watch that I ordered from Watchmann. However, I feel inclined to write this to highlight the excellent customer service that I have received thus far, in particular, from Greg Stein. I ordered a Marathon GSAR Arctic from Watchmann by initially calling last weekend - upon leaving the information that was requested, I received immediate reply from Greg asking if I wanted to order the watch over the weekend, wherein he forwarded an online order form. I filled that out and again, received immediate reply from Greg that the order was received and an estimate time of delivery (including an option for delivery prior to Christmas). This watch is a gift to myself, so, it was not imperative that I receive it prior to Christmas. A couple of days went by and Greg sent me a message indicating that the watch will be delivered earlier than expected (meaning, it is actually now scheduled to arrive at my home prior to Christmas). Bonus!!! In the last year, my wife and I have been in the process of making numerous improvements to the interior of our home. In doing so, we hired numerous contractors who used a variety of vendors for products to be used in our various projects. It has been 10 months since we started the work - work that took a grand total of 7 days to actually install. It has been a 10 month ordeal (thus far - we are not finished yet) in large part due to alleged delays and folks pointing fingers at others and ... a simple lack of good customer service and basic communication. I only share the story above to highlight the excellent customer service that I have received from Greg Stein. Given the state of the world today and as evidenced by our own personal issues these last 10 months with our home projects, it has sadly become more the norm that customer service doesn't exist any longer. Greg has shown that excellent customer service still exists out there - and his exemplary communications with me have also demonstrated that it is the simplest of gestures ... that will win over customers for a life time. Cheers to Greg for exceptional customer service!!! Ironically, I am adding the Marathon to my collection ... which I am in the process of actually thinning out. This is my first experience purchasing a watch from WatchMann - after such excellent customer service, it won't be my last. I have several Damasko pieces (that won't be going away) - I also now have a new place to have them serviced!!!! This is what's unique about Watchmann: Greg takes the time to listen to what you are looking for; provides possible solutions in a wide range of price and features; takes the time to explain why he is making the recommendations; and is thoughtful in his recommendations. This shop deals in smaller, high quality brands in nearly all prices. The Damasko brand (German) is truly high quality with Watchmann standing behind your purchase - he did with mine with no questions and it is my favorite daily wear watch (DSub3). I think relationships still matter to Greg and that's the reason I will always call him first for any future timepiece purchase. Highly recommended. read more
