My friends and I were pleased that the Acai Republic opened a little early for us because we started a beginner bike ride there. One of the owners came out and described the history of the business and how they feel it is important to be involved in the local community. After our bike ride, everybody ordered something, as we were hot and hungry. I had a Pitaya Smoothie. I loved it. It was just what I needed, a little sweet and I had them add some protein to it. The group sat and talked over smoothies and bowls outside on the comfortable tables. Next month, I will attend the bike ride again and I look forward to another smoothie. Came back to Acai Republic to try their Acai bowls. The Sao Paulo bowl was very good, not too sweet like other places I've tried them at where I think they add way too much honey. The bowl was definitely better than my experience with their Salgados. I also had the ginger turmeric shot. They should put a warning label on it because this thing is intense!! OK...just because it's called a shot doesn't mean you should drink it like a shot of tequila like I did. The ginger turmeric shot is a complete nose bender! I could feel the burn through my nose and down my throat (possibly frying all germs and bacteria in my body along the way) and I started going around the kitchen like a mad woman trying to find a chaser before it finally subsided like after 10 seconds. 10 seconds doesn't sound long, but it feels hella long when your face is on fire. If you get this, I recommend you sip it slowly and have a cup of water next to you. Learn from my mistakes. You're welcome. read more

I tried their most famous Sao Paulo and it was pretty good. The sliced bananas and strawberries were really fresh and delicious, it goes well with the granola and Acai and guarana. Service was excellent and plastic spoons, napkins, and carry out bag was provided. Inside the store was very clean and comfortable with a nice touch of color. Acai Republic has made its way to this part of Pomona and has been in the shopping center for close to a year. And with this, I was in search of some new dinner options in the area and found my way to the store around 7:00PM on a Tuesday evening. Walking in and looking at their menu, Acai Republic's menu was mainly full of acai bowl and smoothie choices (as one would expect). But looking on the right side of the menu, I noticed a section called "Salgados" which had a few savory pastry options. Being intrigued with this choice, I decided to order two of the Coxinhas ($3.99 each) and one Spinach Empanada ($3.99). Taking each item out of the bag, I was pretty happy with the size. Although they were not large by any means, each pastry was about the size of my palm and were stuffed pretty full. Out of the two, the Coxinha had more filling and tasted more satisfying due to the chicken and potato mixture inside. For $4 in the Pomona area, four of any mix of pastries could be a filling meal. But with the average price of pastries in the area being lower at two to three dollars, you can get better value elsewhere. Trying each of the pastries, the one thing I could say would be that I wish there was more moisture. The spinach empanada tasted freshly made and had a crumbly crust. But as for the inside, the spinach did not integrate with the dough. The pastry was hard to eat without a glass of water on the side. This issue presented itself more with the Coxinha as the potato exterior was very thick. The chicken inside had a light anise-like flavor, but unfortunately also fell victim to the lack of moisture inside. At the very least, I will say that the pastries are definitely not what Acai Republic specializes in. If anything, come here for the bowls. The price of each pastry was a little more than one would expect and the taste of the food was only mediocre at best. These alone make Acai Republic's pastries sit at a 3 star rating. If looking for cheap food in this Pomona center, there are other great options just next door! But if looking for a cool treat on a hot day, give these guys a try! read more

Friendly and informative staff. The açaí used here are organic so the pricing for a bowl may may be a bit higher but is certainly much healthier. I tried the hot Salgados (Brazilian pastries) - namely the beef empanadas and the baked cheese breads (pao de queijo), they were both good and a little crunchy on the outside. Would definitely try this place again. The interior is very comfortable too. Located in a plaza with small and tight parking spots and across from Cal Poly Pomona campus. So I've come to this Açaí business a few times now. On my most recent visit I was greeted with a big kiosk like McDonalds and a "cashless only" sign. We proceeded to order through the kiosk as required which took much longer to do compared to just giving your order to a human being. Upon payment the kiosk just stalled and gave the " I'm thinking" wheel of death. We were told it was probably the WiFi and may have to wait up to five minutes.. SERIOUSLY! Finally the lone guy in the store retook our order and we paid. Then another customer came after us and ordered. Me and my wife waited and were astonished to see the lady who ordered AFTER us get her order completed first?? Lastly they charge either fifty cents or a dollar for add ons, so if you want peanut better it's another dollar, you want chocolate nibs, a dollar... You get my drift, it gets way to expensive and nobody else charges for these things on custom bowls! A huge disappointment and letdown. I don't think we'll return. I'd rather deal with humans, get my order before the person after me and not have to pay $40 for two regular açaí bowls. read more

An amazing location to grab an acai bowl by campus. It's spacious and is a good spot to relax. The acai options are not too sweet, which is a rare find for me. I feel like most places add sugar and it's just way too sweet, but not here! The owners are friendly and made a great recommendation for the acai base. Employee was friendly but ushered everyone to use the kiosk, so I guess they're not supposed to take any orders themselves. My total was just under $16.50 for a medium size bowl with two add-ons that were $0.99 each. Kind of sucks that you have to pay for each topping when other places include them. On top of that, the strawberries were wet and mushy, so they didn't seem fresh. Saw at least 3 flies in the store while I finished my bowl but didn't see any lids on the ingredients, or at least didn't notice anything covering them. No wifi. Only good thing was that the actual acai base was still a cold/frozen texture and didn't melt right away. read more
