We bought a shirt for our son to check size. It fit so my wife returned to buy 3 more shirts of the same size. Unfortunately she removed the tags assuming that an Adult Medium would be the same as the one she bought a few weeks prior. Turns out they changed the cut with the manufacturer in an extreme manner. Subtracted almost 2 inches from the shoulder and added 2 inches to the neck. Store would not take back due to the tags being removed from the shirt. Basically said too bad should have read the receipt policy. 17 years of buying uniforms from this place. Glad to be done forever!! read more

They are the most unprofessional store I've ever been to. The guy Panko who claims to be the owner has the "shakes" and he's the worst. On top of this their prices are ridiculous and product is cheaply made. They requested all these school contracts and was not able to meet the demands. They will sell you a return policy and will not follow through with the returns. Owner will defend employees with no remorse or objection, even if the employee admits to the wrongdoing after they step away and have a not so quiet discussion about it. read more

This time of Covid19 pandemic, I had to return unworn, with tags of within 30-60 days time frame, no problem. They are very friendly, and helpful of what I needed the day! read more

I watched the "owner" (term the teller used when she went to get help to do a return) or maybe she was just a manager, Elizabeth, treat her sweet 20 something year old employee who has been nothing short of helpful every time I've been in the store, like absolute dirt in front of 3 customers. The girl just took it and quietly tried to help more customers but it was obvious she was used to the treatment of this nasty woman. Honey, get a new job!!! Elizabeth wasn't only a total jerk to her employee, she was very rude and pissed off towards the customer asking for an exchange and even toward me when I was simply purchasing $200 worth of over priced items. If I didn't have to come to this store for my schools uniforms I wouldn't. Hopefully other schools will pick a different supplier. read more

I usually have a good experience at this store, however was recently given wrong store policy on embroidery by actually the owner and it was not honored. I know running a business is not easy and I always try and support small business however I feel they are more concerned with their income verses their customers. Their prices are on the high side especially having a monopoly in the area with no other uniform stores in the area except online. The owners smile and appear accommodating but when issues arise they are the least bit accommodating. They will definitely not receive my business again. read more

We purchased uniforms over 60 days ago which would fit but for another few weeks due to growth spurts. The uniforms still had the tags, so we decided to ask if the store would exchange them for a larger size. They refused citing the reason as material and supplier change. New larger uniforms were purchased and on comparison were surprisingly the same barcode, materials and supplier. We have shopped here for multiple grades due to the store been the only provider of uniforms. Honestly if there was another choice to obtain the uniforms for my children's school I would shop elsewhere. read more

I am very happy with the items I purchased. The sales person who helped us may have been new, or she didn't really like her job? She didn't seem too knowledgeable about the stock. She kept "forgetting" what I had asked for. I had to repeat myself several times as she lead us aimlessly through the store. It's ok though. I knew what items I needed for my daughter and eventually the sale person lead us to what we needed. We were in and out quickly even with trying items on. I would definitely shop here again. Why I buy: This is a good store and generally well run. I have been buying uniforms for my kids from this store for 4 years now. We know the store is pricier than regular clothes from department stores because these are limited run uniforms for private schools. I know that when spending thousands on tuition fees I need to sign up for paying for a uniform if the school insists on it. Uniforms are an important part of the school ethos, so I know as a parent I need to be ALL-IN when signing up including paying a little bit above for the clothing. In general I find the fabric and build quality is actually higher than department stores anyway. How to budget I have no problem with used uniforms for my kids (sometimes private schools will ask parents to give them any gently worn used uniforms to give to students who need them). When this is not available as an option, to avoid wasting money because of the no returns policy spend the minimum you need to and buy more as you need it at this store. Anyway kids grow, so usually two of each item at first is more than enough so you're not constantly washing the one item. Support local businesses and my community: Returning used clothing to the store only hurts their business, I like to support smaller local businesses so I buy with deliberation. I buy new knowing that once I've bought it and the child has worn it is used. (See How to budget). If the child has used it and it is wearable by another child why not give it away to another child who might need it - suggest this to your school principal, I'm sure other parents would be happy to save some money. It's incredibly frustrating that Academic Outfitters is the only supplier for my kid's uniforms. Unfortunately, my family trusted one of the staff members to help us gather the uniforms for the school year. That decision has cost us extra this year because the shirts that were given to us by the staff were not the correct ones. The stores policy voided any chance of return due to the timing of our purchase and when the issue was discovered on the first day of school. The owner's lack of understanding of their mistake and poor customer service skills forced us to make another purchase with this establishment at full price. I can not express how horrible this uniform store is. I am extremely frustrated and dissatisfied with their customer service. They are an hour drive for me so I have been attempting to reach them via phone for days simply to inquire about the availability of my PAID online order I placed over a week ago. I attempted to call them 6 times last week and 10 times today to no avail. I certainly understand that it is a busy time but it is ridiculous that they never answer their phone! The voice mail is constantly full so I can not even leave a message. The least they could do is send out a courtesy status email or phone call about my order since it's obvious their customers can not reach them. Furthermore, it is such poor customer service that they do not supply sufficient stock for schools, yet we are limited to buying through them. There is a thing called estimating your inventory and they obviously do not do this.When I came into their store in June they were sold out of polo's, hair bows and backpacks in our schools style. Again, I am a reasonable person and understand if you wait until the last minute you miss out. However, June should still be early enough to purchase supplies. It is sad that I had to search for bows and backpacks online from another uniform store out of state (which I have already received)because they can not meet their customers needs. If they had the style of clothing required (A+) I would have purchased my children's entire uniform from Donalds in St. Louis (I live in Texas). My son and daughter start school in 4 days and we are at their mercy for their clothing. read more

Will not be coming back here unless forced to. Bought three pairs of pants. Tried one on and the clerk handed us two more of same size. We checked the tags to make sure as we had problems in the past with different cuts fitting very differently. Had to get them embroidered. After picking them up, my son tried on one pair before we removed the tags. Our mistake ... Washed the pants. When son put on a pair for the first day of school, the pants were a size or two too small. Immediately checked the tag and saw the tag size was right, just somehow mislabeled. But alas, No Refund if tags removed... At $42 per pair, this is unacceptable. Still had tag and reattached it. Brought back to store. Was told my placing the tag on pants "punctured" the material. The pants were considered used and tough luck. I loudly complained, perhaps overly loud, but I felt it was justified. Owner approached and asked me to stop being "violent." I corrected her choice of words.... I was angry and irritate but not violent. She said it was just a word. Then She said they weren't a used clothes store. Then said she would have to donate the pants if she took them back. She noted a name tag we put in the pants and forgot to remove, and she said "if that is your son's name." I called her out again on suggesting I was a liar and a cheat. She said it was semantics like her use of the word "violent" earlier. She did relent and said she would accommodate us as a customer service while reiterating that she would not be able to resell the mislabeled pants (hmmm, as owner, I might think about returning to the crappy manufacturer, or sell as a clearance item, but heck, I am just a lying, violent shopper...). She told me to go to the back of the long line, and the cashier would help me. While in line, the owner approached me again and said "I want you to know we will donate these to St. Vincent de Paul, so the pants will go to a good home." I at be Catholic and may have guilt, but that really didn't move me... The cashier was pleasant. She actually assisted me. I felt I made her uncomfortable, so I apologized to her. I do note that the cashiers did clearly state that items with tags removed are not returnable. Also there are signs to the same effect all over the store. So perhaps I was wrong. But I strongly feel that mislabeled clothing should be an exception the policy. We have been shopping for uniforms at this store for 4-5 years. It appears ownership has changed. Service level is horrible. The owner/manager is terrible, insulting, and has no concept of customer service. I plan to recommend to my school's board that they seek an alternate supplier. If you have a choice in suppliers, I suggest you check them out first before going here. And by all means, try absolutely every single piece of clothing on ... The tolerance for fixing mistakes is low and may subject you to insults and innuendo. read more

My daughter and I had a very pleasant experience here. We were out looking for items for a last minute Hogwarts uniform, specifically, a white polo, a tie, and mostly a gray pleated skirt. After looking for these items at many other stores, we drove out here 15 minutes before closing on a Friday. Academic Outfitters had all of these items. They had a huge selection of school uniforms. We were greeted by an employee and she assisted us with everything on our list. Although we weren't shopping for school, she was aware of common dress codes with lengths of skirts. She patiently waited for my daughter to try on many items. We even found a navy pre-tied tie that was perfect for my daughter to paint silver stripes for Ravenclaw House. We were out in about 25 minutes or less. We felt welcomed and all of our questions were answered. Glad we found this place! read more

We had a very good experience here. My son has never worn a uniform of any kind, and has never even tucked his shirt in or owned a belt! So we were both a little uneasy about finding clothes that looked good. The sales lady that helped us, I think her name was Shannon, was extremely helpful and made the experience super easy- didn't take long at all. So far the clothes have held up nicely, I like the stiffness of the shorts- makes them always look nice and never wrinkled. I feel that the materials are high quality and will hold up nicely. My son has never complained about the clothes, says they are comfortable. The owner made a point to come over and meet me despite the store being pretty busy-she was very friendly. read more

Went to buy a skirt and cardigan for my daughter. Met the owner and she was very rude to me. There were 7 people in line for 1 register. When I asked if another could be opened (I saw at least 4 employees not busy) I was told no. One of them was the owner. When my turn came, she made a point of telling she was the owner and she had 15 college student employees..... at that point I told her she didn't want my business and I left without making a purchase. This cheaply made sweater was $38 and I would never have bought it if her school did not want us to buy one from them. She removed the tag and tried it on at home. 4 days later we ended up putting her in a public school in Plano and I went to return the sweater. I was told that they cannot return it because the tag is not on or missing. I asked them how difficult is it to put a new tag on and I was told that this is a used item.....It was not a used item at all, but they would not budge. I bought my child's uniforms from Academic Outfitters. After wearing one of their overpriced jumpers 3 times, the stitching on the pocket came undone. I called and was told to bring it in. I took the jumper to the store and was told they would have it repaired. I had to come quiet a ways so I asked if they would mail it to me since it was obviously a defect on their part. They said no I would have to come back and pick it up in a couple of days. I mentioned that gas is $3.35 per gallon and I would prefer to have it mailed. They refused. I am not happy. read more

Previously, I posted feedback about the general quality of the pants this store sells. Still very disappointed at the material, very stiff and fades a lot, and a new pair we bought had the waistline piping (or whatever it's called) come off after the first washing. HOWEVER, brought the matter to the attention of the owners and they made things right by replacing the item. EXCELLENT service by the owners so bumped my rating to 3 stars. Wow it's been a long time since I've written a review. I pass by this store ALL the time since I frequent the JoAnn's right next door. I don't have much use for a uniform.. until now. :) I needed plain, white polo and could not find one anywhere so I walked in and met a blast of cold air (this is a good thing... it was HOT outside). Inside, there is a tidy assortment of uniform shirts, polos, blazers, dresses, skirts, etc etc you name it. I was helped by the owner/manager? and a sales associate to find exactly what I wanted, which isn't much but the effort and attention given was pretty awesome. They also have 5-6 dressing rooms for you to try on your item(s) to see if it fits perfectly. For those still in school and in need of badges or logos, they do have this service and asked me which school I went to (haha not anymore!!) so they don't sell me the wrong logo. All in all, great customer service. Oh yeah, the polo is very nice too, very good quality. read more

I thought I was getting a jump on back to school shopping when I stopped by in late July. The young lady assisting customers on the floor was helpful, but that was the end of a tolerable shopping experience. After waiting in line for over fifteen minutes, I commented to the cashier that they should really get more help. Kelley, my cashier, was snippy with her response that this was the busy time. When I questioned whether she was really arguing with a customer she proceeded to remove the hangers from the clothing I was buying and threw them on the floor. I was so shocked and disgusted by her unprofessional behavior I told her that I would note providing the company any business. I got the name and number of the owner and left her a message to her voicemail about my very unpleasant experience; have not heard back from her. Will never ever go here again. Would purposely drive out of the way, across the border, to go somewhere else. My daughter needed clothes for school and we were supposed to go there with our list. The service was horrible and the employees, including and especially the owner were extremely rude to my family members. It was almost they hate their jobs and woke up with bad attitudes. My Aunt, Grandmother and mother had come just to make this a special day for my daughter and get her excited about school. When I called before to find out - more or less - how much it would cost to dress a young child - you know, to get her a decent set to get her started they couldn't even tell me a ballpark. I was like, ok? Is it like $300 or maybe $600. Couldn't even say! You should know your clientele and know what a basic package should cost...especially for parents new to the private school scene.
