Well here it is two weeks later and he doesn't show for the appointment. No call, no email, and won't return my calls. Seems like ghosting is his way of saying he doesn't want the job. We live in an Almaden Valley home built in the 60s. When we were ready for un upgrade, we interviewed Carlos of ACA Remodeling Design and choose him. We discussed bump-outs and moving the kitchen but decided we'd be happiest with just a remodel of what we had. Carlos showed us different cabinet layouts until we settled on one. He listened to my wife's input and made suggestions that she liked. He went with us to pick out slabs for the counter tops, tile and hardware. We replaced Pergo floors with hardwood in the kitchen and family room. The laundry room and half bath were redone too. We've admired the result every day since and appreciate some of the extra things Carlos suggested. He works with you and does his best to make you happy. There is nothing we regret. About three years later we hired ACA to redo our upstairs bathrooms. Again, he worked with us to come up with designs that we liked. We chose to do one bathroom at a time. A wise choice since Covid hit after the bathroom was torn up. No work happened for months until the county allowed them to work again. When they finished the first bathroom we started using it while they started in on the second. I admire the tile work every day. His tile guy is excellent. Everything else was good too. The cabinets and counter tops are beautiful and functional. The layouts we came up with with Carlos work wonderfully. While they look good, they also give us all the shelf space we need. We have been extremely happy with our decision to use ACA for our downstairs and upstairs remodels. read more

Carlos and his team redid my entire kitchen earlier this year, and I could not be happier, nor can I possibly recommend Carlos more! It took me a couple of years to hire someone to do my kitchen, I spoke with many companies and received multiple bids, but it was not until meeting Carlos that I felt confident enough to proceed. The job was refacing half of my existing cabinets, installing new kitchen cabinets on the other half, new countertops, cabinet to ceiling backsplash, rewiring, as well as updating the wet bar area just outside the kitchen. Carlos and his team were down to earth, thoughtful and very professional. Carlos took time to meet me and select all the materials. His recommendations were spot on. He was generous enough with his time to make suggestions; for example, I was looking at one type of sink. Carlos mentioned to me that he noticed I used cast iron pots and pans, and those were likely why I had nicks in my existing sink. He made a recommendation for a sink, and today I am still grateful that I avoided a sink decision that was both the wrong material and the wrong depth. Small detail, but huge impact in the daily experience of my kitchen. My new kitchen is simply amazing. He not only brought my vision to life, but improved upon it with his knowledge of design. We had ACA remodel a kitchen, two bathrooms and a living area. The project required the taking down of a load-bearing wall , installing new cabinets, granite counters, new floors, new paint, new tile, new fixtures, etc. All to be done during a pandemic. After several years of research and multiple estimates for an extensive remodel of our house, we elected to go with ACA Remodeling and we couldn't be more pleased! Our project included a full tear-down-to-studs kitchen and 2 bath remodel, updated wiring and electrical service, new interior and exterior doors, refinished floors, interior paint, new windows, new insulation in top, bottom and walls, and new skim coat on exterior, all of which was completed in 5 months. Carlos was a pleasure to work with throughout the process. In the design and estimate phase, he arrived on time to meetings, worked to understand our ideas, offered design suggestions, and helped us weigh options. He provided clear written estimates of costs, scope of work, and timelines. Once work started, Carlos met regularly with me to update on progress, timelines, and sequencing of work, so there were no surprises. Hil, the site supervisor, the crew (Rigo, Juan, Tony, and others), and the subcontractors (Librado for stucco, Servando for floors, and Victor for dry wall texturing) were friendly and professional in responding to my questions or concerns as work progressed. Since we lived on site during the remodel, the guys did well at cleaning up at the end of each day to minimize the construction dust. Carlos was quick to respond when a few minor issues arose and quickly addressed them. Our friends and neighbors have been wowed by the new kitchen! Carlos helped us select the custom cherry cabinets with light oak finish, the granite counter tops, and the marble for the fireplace. Carlos helped us see the possibilities for the redesign of our small galley kitchen without changing any of our home's structural elements. He then provided a preliminary computer generated 3D design of the job that we worked with to come up with our final design. He proceeded with the job in a professional manner. His workers were professional, knowledgeable, and worked hard even when Carlos was not around, which was quite often. First and most importantly, our entire experience working with Carlos and each member of ACA was nothing less than fantastic. I would highly recommend ACA Remodeling Design if you want quality workmanship, top rated materials and custom made cabinets at very competitive pricing. We had contacted several other remodeling contractors and Carlos was the first to really listen to what WE wanted and not try to persuade us with something they thought was right for us. Other contractors never responded, kept trying to redesign what we wanted, showed little interest in even doing our project, and even making us feel like they were doing us a favor by just showing up. In all fairness, one other contractor was very close to ACA in pricing and showed the same level of interest in our project. The other contractor lost the job because he was going to use "off-the-shelf" cabinetry imported from China, versus the USA made custom cabinetry offered by ACA. This is significant in that your space usage will be fully maximized. At our initial meeting with Carlos we were looking for an estimate on a full kitchen removal/upgrade and to reconfigure/upgrade our master bath. At the end of our first meeting, Carlos provided a full written estimate and timeline for the work we discussed. As I previously mentioned, the pricing was very competitive to the other qualified contractors. We were looking for quality work and not necessarily the lowest price....you do get what you pay for. During our initial meeting, Carlos insured we were his one and only priority by turning off his cellphone and dedicating 100% of his time to us. He gave us nearly 5 hours of his time in that first meeting. We felt very at ease while we described our complete project to him as he took full note of every detail we discussed. After gaining our confidence by seeing the initial quality of work from his team, how they treated this project as if it was their own home, and asking us how we felt about the progress that was being made, we decided to expand the initial project and added additional wet bar and guest bath cabinets to the job and new hardwood flooring throughout the 1st floor. Carlos spent the time to insure he understood what our vision was, and to insure that we knew up front how the changes would affect the total project cost. The construction timeline that Carlos provided at our first meeting was only modified by the additional work we added. If you have any doubts about the quality of workmanship, all you have to do is ask Carlos to visit his past customers and hear the praises they had for ACA. I had new counter tops and lightning put in my kitchen. I spoke with Carlos who gave us the estimate and set the date for the work to be done. I am very happy with the work that they did and we had a time frame of one week to get this work done. They were able to meet the time frame for us and did an excellent job. Very pleased! Our kitchen looks great! Carlos is very nice to work with but he does need to improve his customer relations and communication. This review is long overdue. After reviewing many contractors for our kitchen remodel, we chose ACA Remodeling Design based on several factors. First, Carlos was professional, on-time, friendly, and informative during our initial consultation, offering his opinions on a few different ways we could configure the kitchen and rationale for each option, while still working with the plan ideas we already had. Second, Carlos didn't try to give us a hard sell - he met with us, provided his quote, and then waited patiently while we got other quotes. Third, ACA had all necessary specialists on-staff or contracted and we wouldn't have to vet various sub-contractors, which was something that was really key for us. Finally, the price was right - they weren't the cheapest but they also weren't the most expensive; given the positive aspects noted above we decided to work with ACA. Our kitchen remodel required a complete gutting of the kitchen and starting over from scratch. Bill was our on-site daily foreman and he was very good to work with - he and Carlos kept us informed of the upcoming steps, coordinated all of the work to ensure things progressed smoothly and on-time, and were pleasant to interact with throughout the three-month process. The remodel actually ran a bit ahead of schedule, which allowed us to get back to cooking and away from microwave dinners (!), although the final finishing touches were delayed a few weeks because our custom hood/vent got delayed (due to error at the supplier), but ACA was understanding and patient in waiting out the delay (especially since I'm sure our delay could have affected their timeline on other projects). Throughout the remodel all of the workers were very friendly and respectful of our property, and our house was kept clean and free of debris each night, including taping off the entries to the remodel area (which was important to keep our toddler out of potentially dangerous areas). Carlos and Bill were both very responsive and helpful when we had questions, regardless of topic. In the end, our new kitchen is beautiful! Not only does it look beautiful, but it maximizes space for storage and the layout is very functional. When my sister visited she said "Wow, it looks like it's right out of a magazine or cooking show on TV!" Besides looking great, the remodel was completed on-time (aside from the vent/hood delay, which was not ACA's fault) and on-budget (aside from some options [granite, flooring] that we chose to upgrade during the selection process - and Carlos was very transparent in letting us know the impact of those changes). The cabinets (which ACA constructs themselves) are high-quality and all have soft-close hinges, which is fabulous! After the completion of the remodel, ACA has remained responsive and stands behind their work. After several months we noticed some settling had occurred in two of the cabinet doors which created small cracks in the paint - after one call to Carlos they came out the next day to remove the doors, fix, and replace. Over a year later two of the soft-close hinges became loose, and again we only had to make one call and they got someone to our house the next day to tighten the hinges. After having this positive experience working with ACA on our kitchen remodel, my husband and I chose to work with them again when we were ready to remodel our bathrooms. We reached out to Carlos and he came to see us and discuss the projects. We initially planned to do one bathroom now and another later, but Carlos discussed with us the financial benefits to doing them both together (staggered, to maintain one usable bathroom at all times), which saved us a couple thousand dollars. Once again, Carlos offered creative design options that really helped improve the end results. As with our kitchen remodel, all of the ACA personnel were friendly, courteous, and responsive. The work was done on-time, and in fact they were able to finish several weeks early. We did encounter a couple minor setbacks during this remodel, including uncovering termite damage in the walls of one bathroom during demolition (ACA was able to repair the structure with what I feel was a reasonable budget and very little time delay) and having the supplier give away our granite slabs (which required us to make additional trips to pick out new slabs). In the end, however, we got the results we were looking for - the workmanship continues to be high quality and our bathrooms are beautiful! We haven't encountered any repair needs yet, but I'm sure if we do they will stand behind their work and provide warranty support as they did with our kitchen. The high quality of work, ongoing support, friendly and responsive personnel, timeliness, and cost for these projects all met or exceeded our expectations. As someone else mentioned here, this review is long overdue. But for very different reasons. I am very unhappy with the job done on my kitchen by ACA. We began our agreement with ACA (Carlos) in September 2013. Everything at that point in the description of the job and costs and time frames seemed excellent. Carlos was very knowledgeable and professional. My "remodel" consisted of replacing all the cabinet doors and drawers with shaker style to be painted in the existing "box" custom color. Replace my counter tops with quartz including the back splash. My kitchen is very tiny. Counter tops are like 70"x64"x26". Reinstall my existing cook top and replace my sink and faucet with new ones that I purchased separately. $11,500 seemed like quite a bit for 16 doors and 6 drawers and the counter top. Drawers were to be replaced with drawers that had ball bearing type rollers. Very shortly after the job was completed I sent Carlos a photo of dovetail joints separating and paint chipping off. He was quick to respond and ordered the doors removed and replaced. I lived with no drawers and doors for a couple of weeks while new doors were ordered and painted. Not what I was expecting after the mess and cost but at least Carlos was handling. This happened two more times over a course of months. Each time Carlos was quick to respond but by the third time statements like "all my profits are lost" began to enter into our conversations, making me very uncomfortable. Same problems over and over. The last installation, and I cannot at this point say exactly when that happened, but sometime in 2014, was said to be full proof...no more dove tail and paint issues....they had put a "special" coating into or onto the paint. Well, here we are. Almost two years later from the initial contact with Carlos and dove tails are once again separating. Seams are beginning to open. Paint is chipping. I have no more energy to deal with ACA. I considered small claims court to recoup my investment, but that too seems exhausting. I just say to anyone considering ACA that this is my experience and it has been a totally unhappy one. read more

Several months ago I was seeking out a reputable remodeling company to complete a kitchen cabinet refacing job along with an installation of hardwood floors in a master bedroom. I searched the Diamond Certified Directory for a company and ultimately selected ACA Remodeling Design. The owner, Carlos Aguilera, met up with me at the job site and took copious detailed notes as I explain exactly what "look" I was attempting to achieve. He was very attentive and responsive and quickly return a schematic along with a bid. The project was made slightly more complicated as granite counter tops and full back splashes had been installed a few years earlier and I didn't want to replace them. Initially, there were some misunderstandings but because Carlos was genuinely interested in creating a project both he and I would be proud of, the final results were nothing short of complete satisfaction. Carlos uses high quality wood and hardware material and that manifests itself in the operation and sheer beauty of his construction. No one believes that my cabinets were really only refaced and not actually replaced---that's a true testament of how Carlos' motto of "Doing whatever it takes to make you happy", along with the backup of the attentiveness and professional crew I was fortunate enough to have on my particular remodel produced. Carlos came out to our home to do an estimate. He seemed knowledgeable and was very professional. However, it is now two weeks since he came out and no estimate, no return to our phone calls regarding the estimate. To top it off, we went to the Home Show in Santa Clara yesterday and lo and behold there was a booth for ACA. We talked to Lisa and told her about Carlos not calling us back. She called him and he told her he had both emailed and mailed us an estimate (neither of which we ever got) so she took our email address again and said she would text it to him and he would email it right away. So, we checked as soon as we got home and still no email. What's even more ironic is his company philosophy in the brochure he gives out is all about COMMUNICATION and how important it is. Really!!! Not sure how he has all these good reviews when he doesn't return phone calls or provide an estimate. If he didn't want to do the job, all he needed to do was tell us that. Even if we got an estimate now, we wouldn't use his company...Incredibly poor customer service. read more
