(Part 1 of 3) If you are a tourist, especially if you're female, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. There are plenty of other places in Door County to eat and drink, with better food, and where you'll feel and actually be safer. I visited Door County for the first time ever this past Friday through Sunday. Found a lovely B&B, and they made some excellent recommendations for places to see and things to do. I was interested in finding a non-fancy, local restaurant or bar for a Friday Fish Fry, before heading over to Adults Night at Hands On Art Studio, and they suggested the AC Tap. Unfortunately, that was a bad recommendation. Now, I should state that I am a woman in my late 30s and was traveling alone. I have never had any problems going into bars, restaurants, or anywhere by myself, and frequently strike up conversation with people near me or the bartender. I have never in my entire life had an experience like the one I had at this bar. I walked in from the back door and found the barstools at the bar to be full, and the noise level moderate, with people talking and the music. Not a problem - it's a bar on a Friday night. I was glad to see lots of people and figured it must be a good place with a bunch of people there on a Friday night around 5-5.15pm. I found one open barstool at the bar, about 5 stools in from one end. To my left were a bunch, maybe 6 or 7, 30s-40s guys, who were loud and having fun, and seemed to me to be at least moderately drunk. To my right was an older couple, with the woman directly on my right. I asked if the seat was taken, was told no, and sat down. Immediately upon sitting down, the man to my left (a mid 40s looking guy, sunglasses on his head, maybe looked liked he'd been out golfing that day?) started trying to talk to me. His friends were saying things like, "You should buy her a drink," "Tell her I know her," and "Tell her she looks like a Wendy." One saw over my shoulder that my wallpaper on my phone was my cat and started saying, "She likes cats. I saw, it's on her phone, she likes cats." I ordered a cocktail and the fish fry from the male bartender. There were two bartenders - one a late 20s guy and one a late 30s or so woman. I began chatting with the woman on my right and turned my back to the guys, hoping that ignoring their silliness would encourage them to stop. The guy next to me started talking to me, even with my back to him, and proceeded to tell me several times that "Hey, my friend says he knows you," to which I turned to him and told him that he didn't. I turned away again and continued chatting with the woman on my right. Then he poked my arm a couple of times and said, "Hey, my friend says your name is Wendy. Is your name Wendy?" Obviously not interested in carrying on a conversation with him, I turned to him and said that No, my name wasn't Wendy, and turned quickly back around again. He then started talking loudly in my general direction, certainly to me, but to my back, because I was obviously trying to ignore him, that "Oh, I thought we'd be introduced, I thought you were gonna tell me your name, I was only trying to be friendly..." etc. I found his seemingly drunk behavior to be inconsiderate and stupid and hoped ignoring it would make it stop. I don't recall when the bathroom vending machine single condom packages started being slid down the bar and banging into my drink or food, but it was pretty constant once they started. I tried ignoring them, I tried putting them on the bar rail away from me and out of reach of the guy to my left, but they just kept sliding down the bar into the side of my drink or into the side of my fish fry basket. The guy to my left started taking them and putting them in his pocket or tossing them back to his friends, saying loudly that "See? I'm taking them away. They're throwing stuff, and I'm taking them away." Meanwhile, the female bartender was hanging out around behind the bar, but much of the time to my left with the bunch of guys, doing shots or chatting away loudly and having fun. I don't begrudge anyone that, as I am from a small town and have been a bartender in small town bars. Hang out, have fun, enjoy your regulars and a fun Friday night. She seemed like she was having a good time, which is great. However, if she was unaware of this, she was drunk and not paying attention, and if she was aware of it, she was complicit. The guy bartender (sober as far as I could tell, quiet, and just doing his job behind the bar) I think was aware they were harassing me as well, and also did nothing to tell them to stop up to that point. That's when the condom sailed through the air from the end of the bar and landed in my food. Yep. They threw a condom in my food like junior high boys being bullies in the lunchroom. (Part 2 of 3) I lost my patience then. I'd been trying to ignore them and eat my fish fry, drink my cocktail, and chat with the very nice woman next to me, and this now had ruined my halfway finished dinner. I raised my arm and yelled "Hey! Hey!" to the male bartender, who was in front of me at the register with his back turned to me. (The female bartender was down the bar to my left, hanging out with the bunch of guys and having a loud, fun, good time.) The male bartender turned around to me and I said, "They just threw a condom in my food." and threw up my hands and gestured to it. He grabbed the condom box out of my food and marched down to the end of the bar and told them this had to stop and was over the line (or something to that effect). There was some scolding, which I didn't pay attention to. The female bartender then came to me and from behind the bar leaned toward me and said, "I didn't see that happen! If I had seen that happen I would have stopped it!" I told her I believed her. She repeated herself a couple of times, and I repeated a couple of times that I believed her. What else was I supposed to say? I wasn't sure if she was trying to imply that because she didn't see the condom land in my food, that I was lying about it, but I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt that wasn't her meaning. There was a bit of a kerfuffle amongst the guys to my left then, and I just turned to my right and continued chatting with this wonderful and kind woman next to me. The guy to my left started saying things loudly, ostensibly to me, about how he had been taking the condoms away, and I should see that, and implying I should appreciate it. After a momentary silence, he commented loudly, "YOU'RE NOT EVEN MARRIED!" (Apparently noticing the lack of a ring on my left hand.) To which I responded, "So what?!" He presented his left hand and told me loudly and proudly he'd been married for 23 years. (Whoever his wife is, you must be so proud of his behavior this evening.) I told him congratulations. They must have cut him off or told him to leave because he started complaining loudly to the general air that he had an $800k home here and he was a taxpayer and if they wanted to throw him out and lose his business, that's their loss. As a personal opinion, if you have a regular (or a bunch of regulars in this case) that is going to harass tourists in this manner, you might be better off without them at least for the tourist season. My fault for showing up a week before the season technically started, right? He then started trying to talk to a younger female bartender. Asked for her name, which she gave and walked away. She continued doing her work. He then got irritated and started shouting at her that he was thinking they'd get introduced, and she replied that "If you're going to treat her like that (gesturing at me), then no." [Sidebar: You are amazing. I wouldn't want to talk to him either, and calling him out for acting like that - way to go. I felt the support and I appreciate it. Thank you.] Then, he called over the female bartender and started to lodge a complaint that that girl, whoever she was, "the owner's daughter or whatever," refused to talk to him and was rude and he was a taxpayer and had an $800k home and he was going to take his business elsewhere if they didn't want it. The female bartender told him the young woman was an owner or something like an owner, shrugged her shoulders, and knuckle-bumped him. Pals, apparently. About 15-20 minutes later, most of them left. I heard two guys behind me talking (didn't turn around)- "Why are we leaving?" "Because DumDum (names changed to protect the drunken) got thrown out." "Why?!" "HER." Stellar. I asked for zero attention from anyone when I came into the bar, only wanted food and a drink and to be on my merry way, and because they harassed me, they got themselves thrown out of the bar. And it's MY FAULT. The male bartender apologized a couple of times, and I appreciate that. The couple to my right was very nice and we chatted for a while longer before they left. The wife apologized for the drunken ridiculousness I endured and said, "It's not usually like this." I believe her. She is a regular and many others in the bar knew her and her husband and seemed totally composed. I had the unfortunate luck to sit at the drunken moron end of the bar. read more

(Part 3 of 3) Prior to the couple to my right leaving, one of the guys from the group on my left (who had apparently stuck around) came over and leaned on the bar to my left to try to speak to me. I put my elbow on the bar and my hand next to my eye/temple and said, "I really just don't want to talk to any of you. Please leave me alone." He said, "I just wanted to let you know that I paid for your dinner and your drink. So yeah." I repeated my previous statement, and after waiting a few moments, he walked away. If he expected a Thank you, he was sadly mistaken. I am fully capable of paying for my dinner and drinks, and would have rather done so versus being harassed by drunken men in a bar for no reason or provocation whatsoever. All that said, the fish fry was meh. Shoestring fries, perch was meh, and I didn't manage to try the slaw or potato salad, whatever it was, before the condom landed in my tartar sauce. Good value, though! If you can handle sexual harassment on a high level, you'll get your dinner paid for. Make sure you eat enough before they throw a condom in your food! If you're a tourist, especially if you're female, avoid this place at all costs. It's not worth it. There are tons of other places in Door County with better food and where you'll both feel and actually be safer. read more

was once a regular stop for me every time in the area. than a drunk bartender drinking right out of the bottles really turned me off.then the guy next to me plays the juke box and she did not like what he played and turned it off and denied it happened. he asked for his money back and I heard her say some one else did it, maybe from another bar! then she gets the owner involved and e said the same thing!? heard customer say he would never come back and her response to him was we don't care we have enough customers, he left and so did we. we will not return as well! read more

Service was great, food was fantastic, drinks were cold....one thing to be mindful of is that they are a CASH ONLY establishment.

Great food superb service. Ambiance is fun. Recommend to all. Can't go wrong with this cozy little bar!

This bar is playing some country music that is definitely dropping the n word. Do not go here.

Great food and bartenders! You must try their buffalo cheese curd and homemade hot sauce!!!
