It was a nice hotel providing an overall good experience. The hotel is relatively new with an opening date of January of this year. Our stay had some good points with two concerns regarding hotel policy, but other than those small points of consideration; the hotel was not too bad.
When we arrived, we parked in the underground parking garage. The elevator was conveniently located near our car, which took us to the main lobby. We efficiently checked-in and picked up the room keys. During the time that we checked-in, the lobby was pretty much empty and as we were waiting for the elevator, there was a sudden large influx of people that came out of nowhere. There must have been an event taking place that weekend because the elevators were suddenly difficult to access with long wait times for the remainder of our stay.
Once we got to the room, we were pleased with the accommodations. The room had standard, but updated features. As for cleanliness, it appeared clean, but we added our own personal touches to meet our standards in that area. The bathroom was spacious with ample countertop space and a large lighted mirror. The shower was a good size. The bathroom also featured Korres personal care products. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were amazing in my opinion. Our room was located on the IAD side of the building, so it provided some really spectacular views.
The amenities were pretty good. We used the gym while there. The gym featured Peloton bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, other weights and stationary equipment. The gym also provided complimentary cold lemon water and towels. If I had one issue, it would be the number of unattended children in the gym. Though the gym signage clearly listed gym prohibitions, which included an age requirement, there was no adherence to the policy and no adult supervision, which might have been considered discretionary had there been an adult present.
Other amenities included, an indoor pool. There was a guest laundry as well. Finally, there were some rooftop courtyards, one outside of the gym and the other on the mezzanine level. I think most of the hotel amenities were on the same level, but I am not completely sure.
The hotel is close to many restaurants within walking distance. The Seven restaurant and bar was located to the right of the main lobby of the hotel. A snack bar, where snacks and beverages were available for purchase 24/7 was also located in the lobby across from the front desk. The hotel featured a rooftop bar/club as well.
Similar to the gym policy, we also found that quiet hour restrictions were not adhered to after 10:00 pm and before the stated hours in the morning. Since there was some event with adolescents taking place in the hotel, the children were constantly running up and down the hallways and using the elevators consistently beyond the quiet hours. In many of these after hours' instances, the children were without supervision. Our room was located near the ice machine and water dispenser, so there was lots of activity taking place in that area.
Overall, the hotel and room were good. The restaurant was okay. The front desk staff were cordial, especially the female who went above and beyond when our food was delivered without eating utensils. When I asked if they had some available, she asked if I wanted actual silverware or plastic. I selected plastic, but I thought that it was worth mentioning that she provided options.
The hotel was nice enough that I would definitely return. I think we visited on a busy weekend. read more
