I built my own white pizza with garlic butter herb sauce, fresh mozz, mushrooms, and Italian sausage. It was pretty tasty. I was STARVING so maybe that amplified the flavor. This brings me to my next point... Pizza takes FOREVER. I clocked it and it was a full hour from the moment we ordered. This was particularly unpleasant because I was waiting in the car with my two bored and hungry toddlers. If you have kids, you get it. Not ideal. By the way, we tried to call ahead and no one picked up the phone (we tried a couple times). I should also add that the prices are very reasonable here. All I can say is wow. I ordered the creamy garlic pasta with chicken, spinach, bacon, and onions, along with a supreme pizza, and both were outstanding. The pasta was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor without being overly heavy. The chicken was tender, the bacon added the perfect savory bite, and the spinach and onions balanced everything beautifully. Then there was the pizza. This wasn't one of those pizzas where you have to hunt for toppings. Every slice was loaded with pepperoni, ham, sausage, olives, mushrooms, and vegetables. The crust had a great texture, the cheese was perfectly melted, and every bite was packed with flavor. One of the best parts is the value. The portions were generous enough that this takeout order will easily feed me for several days, which makes the quality even more impressive. As someone who wasn't expecting to discover amazing Italian food in Bastrop, Bastiano's was a pleasant surprise. If you're local or just passing through town, do yourself a favor and give them a try. We ordered Pad Kee Mao (my favorite Thai noodle dish), Thai Basil Fried Rice, and Green Curry. You can choose your protein (we got chicken for each) and your spice level (1, 2, or 3). We got brave and went with a full-on 3 on two of the dishes. We also shared an appetizer of coconut shrimp, which was very good (and a bit sweet). They hadn't claimed their Yelp page yet so I encouraged them to do so. They gave us a pager and we sat at one of the many covered tables to wait for our food. The pager went off in a timely manner. We picked up our food and dived into it. It smelled so good that I took a bite of each dish immediately, before photographing them. I never do that. But I couldn't help myself. We enjoyed every dish. Two of them were absolutely amazing and will bring us back here for sure. The Thai Basil Fried Rice and Pad Kee Mao were both perfect. In most Thai places, these dishes are good but have unmet potential. Here they nailed them. Spice Level - When I order a spicy level of 3 on a scale of 1 to 3, I expect my nose to run a bit. Goal achieved. It was delightfully spicy. Perfect for me. Nitpicks - I am not sure they didn't add some red chilies into the green curry. I didn't sense they 100% of the spiciness came from green chili peppers. Another Thai restaurant in town definitely does the same thing, making the initial recipe mild then controlling the heat levels with the same chilies in each dish (usually red Thai chilies). But green chili loses its distinctive brightness when red chilies are added. (Now you're seeing my passion for Thai cooking come through. All the more reason to appreciate my positive review here.) So when a green curry is ordered "spicy" I like to taste (and ideally see) green chilies in it (jalapeno or any other green chili). My second nitpick is that we weren't offered chopsticks. We were given one of those little plastic packets with a napkin, plasticware, salt and pepper. And, inevitably, the napkin carries a strong odor of pepper. It's a food truck in an outdoor food court, not a fancy restaurant. And there are other Thai options in town. But this little food truck will absolutely bring us back. Maybe even tonight!

They were very busy, even at 3 pm on a Sunday. You can choose your spiciness level. Regular, medium, spicy and "xxx." We tried a medium and a spicy. I am not even curious about the xxx because the spicy (and even the medium) were plenty hot for us! The place has a nice interior. It's the former (and beloved) Cedar's restaurant. And they had some nice music playing. And it's counter service only but they all seemed very nice. We ordered 2 blue crabs, a pound of snow crabs, 6 red potatoes, corn on the cob and mushrooms. That was plenty for the two of us. Blue crabs are far cheaper, and these were fine, but those snow crab legs were sooo goood! They steam or boil the crab, place it in a plastic bag, add any veggies you ordered, then ladel in whatever sauce you ordered and toss to coat. So... yeah... everything's real messy! They don't give you a mallet, but you don't need one. The blue crab is already in two halves with the main shell removed. And they don't provide a bib (though we didn't spill anything on our clothes). And they didn't even offer wet wipes, just a large dispenser of napkins. But it worked for us. You just wash up after in the restroom. Of course crab needs beer and they had a good IPA among other things. We will return to work through the menu. We haven't had dungeness crab in awhile. And who doesn't like muscles? My only issue here is, I have no idea how many calories I'm eating. They lay down the butcher paper and you dump out your bag of seafood and it's all in a pool of butter, but it's tossed while it's in the shell so I don't know how much of the gets to the meat. But it must be a lot, because the meat has so much flavor! So, I'm planning a light breakfast, a return to Dockside for lunch, and a healthy salad for dinner. Sounds good to me!
