All I can say is wow. I ordered the creamy garlic pasta with chicken, spinach, bacon, and onions, along with a supreme pizza, and both were outstanding. The pasta was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor without being overly heavy. The chicken was tender, the bacon added the perfect savory bite, and the spinach and onions balanced everything beautifully. Then there was the pizza. This wasn't one of those pizzas where you have to hunt for toppings. Every slice was loaded with pepperoni, ham, sausage, olives, mushrooms, and vegetables. The crust had a great texture, the cheese was perfectly melted, and every bite was packed with flavor. One of the best parts is the value. The portions were generous enough that this takeout order will easily feed me for several days, which makes the quality even more impressive. As someone who wasn't expecting to discover amazing Italian food in Bastrop, Bastiano's was a pleasant surprise. If you're local or just passing through town, do yourself a favor and give them a try. I built my own white pizza with garlic butter herb sauce, fresh mozz, mushrooms, and Italian sausage. It was pretty tasty. I was STARVING so maybe that amplified the flavor. This brings me to my next point... Pizza takes FOREVER. I clocked it and it was a full hour from the moment we ordered. This was particularly unpleasant because I was waiting in the car with my two bored and hungry toddlers. If you have kids, you get it. Not ideal. By the way, we tried to call ahead and no one picked up the phone (we tried a couple times). I should also add that the prices are very reasonable here. The kids menu pizzas are very cheap and more than enough food to fill them up.

They are no longer using the door facing the street so if you've ever been there, be sure and drive around the back now. This gives them much more room inside for more tables. They have redone the bar area and it looks very elegant when you walk in. This was our first visit there and we were glad that the manager came to our table to explain the menu to us. It can get a little confusing. They started out by bringing french fries and some fried strips of potatoes to our table. After our drinks came, they came to take our order. You can get the feast, which includes the salad bar and all of the meats they bring around to your table. Or you can just get the salad bar for a lot cheaper, and there are more than enough items on there for a full dinner, just not the meat selection. The drink I ordered was a strawberry caipirinha and it was delicious. You start out with the salad bar which is really a little misleading because there's way more on there than your typical salad bar. When you are finished with the salad bar, you turn the little card they give you to the green side up and they start coming around to your table with the different variety of meats. Some of them I liked, some of them not as much, but that's the fun thing about it - getting to try all of the different flavors. The servers were all friendly but I did have a hard time understanding some of them when they were telling me which type of meat they were serving. The place was packed and there was quite a line when we left so I highly recommend having a reservation, especially on the weekends. It is fairly pricey but worth it for a nice night out. One big salad bar table initially struck me as "too small," when compared to larger Brazilian steakhouses we've visited. But I was wrong!! The meats were delightful, especially the picanha (beef or lamb--both were yummy!). And the Brazilian lemonade served at brunch was so luxurious!! Don't miss the churros for dessert!! We ordered Pad Kee Mao (my favorite Thai noodle dish), Thai Basil Fried Rice, and Green Curry. You can choose your protein (we got chicken for each) and your spice level (1, 2, or 3). We got brave and went with a full-on 3 on two of the dishes. We also shared an appetizer of coconut shrimp, which was very good (and a bit sweet). They hadn't claimed their Yelp page yet so I encouraged them to do so. They gave us a pager and we sat at one of the many covered tables to wait for our food. The pager went off in a timely manner. We picked up our food and dived into it. It smelled so good that I took a bite of each dish immediately, before photographing them. I never do that. But I couldn't help myself. We enjoyed every dish. Two of them were absolutely amazing and will bring us back here for sure. The Thai Basil Fried Rice and Pad Kee Mao were both perfect. In most Thai places, these dishes are good but have unmet potential. Here they nailed them. Spice Level - When I order a spicy level of 3 on a scale of 1 to 3, I expect my nose to run a bit. Goal achieved. It was delightfully spicy. Perfect for me. Nitpicks - I am not sure they didn't add some red chilies into the green curry. I didn't sense they 100% of the spiciness came from green chili peppers. Another Thai restaurant in town definitely does the same thing, making the initial recipe mild then controlling the heat levels with the same chilies in each dish (usually red Thai chilies). But green chili loses its distinctive brightness when red chilies are added. (Now you're seeing my passion for Thai cooking come through. All the more reason to appreciate my positive review here.) So when a green curry is ordered "spicy" I like to taste (and ideally see) green chilies in it (jalapeno or any other green chili). My second nitpick is that we weren't offered chopsticks. We were given one of those little plastic packets with a napkin, plasticware, salt and pepper. And, inevitably, the napkin carries a strong odor of pepper. It's a food truck in an outdoor food court, not a fancy restaurant. And there are other Thai options in town. But this little food truck will absolutely bring us back. Maybe even tonight!

Half the menu was breakfast and the other half was lunch. Beverages were colas, coffee, tea, lemonade and horchata. Lunch here is your typical Mexican lunch menu: tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas, etc. They also had two specials today: Enchiladas Verde and Quesabirria Tacos. We tried and enjoyed both. The enchiladas had a lot of chicken in them. And while the birria lacked its typical au jus to dip the tacos in, they were still quite authentic and flavorful. The complimentary chips and salsa comes with a bean dip, and with two additional chile options, a spicy red chile and a chile verde. It was nice having all those options. For a healthier option, they also offer a large bowl of tortilla soup with spanish rice on the side. I'm not sure why they choose to open a Mexican restaurant right next to a Mexican restaurant, but the two restaurants are very different and keep different hours.
