Austin has had its fair share of Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurants over the years, but Injera &…read moreBeyond sets the bar on a whole new level. The space is bright, welcoming, and beautifully decorated. The layout is thoughtfully designed, with plenty of separation between the bar area--where things can get a bit livelier--and the dining area, allowing families and groups to enjoy a quieter, more intimate meal. The food is outstanding, featuring a great selection of popular Ethiopian and Eritrean dishes. The owners are incredibly hospitable and friendly, and they genuinely want every guest to have a memorable dining experience from the moment they walk through the door. This spot has quickly become my go-to destination whenever I'm craving injera. Highly recommended!

3.5 Stars Had been…read morelooking forward to trying Injera & Beyond with my family, and while it wasn't a total miss, the experience didn't quite live up to the excitement. We walked in around 5:30 on a Friday and there were only two other tables but granted, it was early. Our waitress was lovely, very nice and attentive throughout. The standout was the Beef Sambusa appetizer. Hands down the best thing we ordered. I wish we'd gotten ten more of them. For entrees, my mother and I had the lamb tibs while my husband and dad got the beef tibs. Here's where things got a little disappointing. At $25+ before tax, these dishes are pricey, and it feels kind of ridiculous that they don't come with a single side. There also just wasn't much meat -- the plates were mostly vegetables. And it took forever for the entrees to arrive, over 25 minutes after the appetizer. With only two other small tables in the entire restaurant, that wait was a little concerning. We finished with the Dubaiklava, which was genuinely delicious, though at $12 for a dessert that isn't very big, it's another spot where the value feels off. I do like this place and want to root for it. But for what they're charging, they really need to bump up the portion of meat and add a side to the entrees. Might have just caught them on an off night, and I'd give it another shot but with a few tweaks, this could be a much stronger spot.

Who knew Bastrop, Texas, would have some of the best pizza and pasta I've had in a long time?…read more I'm in town for a six-week work assignment and decided to try Bastiano's for takeout. All I can say is wow. I ordered the creamy garlic pasta with chicken, spinach, bacon, and onions, along with a supreme pizza, and both were outstanding. The pasta was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor without being overly heavy. The chicken was tender, the bacon added the perfect savory bite, and the spinach and onions balanced everything beautifully. Then there was the pizza. This wasn't one of those pizzas where you have to hunt for toppings. Every slice was loaded with pepperoni, ham, sausage, olives, mushrooms, and vegetables. The crust had a great texture, the cheese was perfectly melted, and every bite was packed with flavor. One of the best parts is the value. The portions were generous enough that this takeout order will easily feed me for several days, which makes the quality even more impressive. As someone who wasn't expecting to discover amazing Italian food in Bastrop, Bastiano's was a pleasant surprise. If you're local or just passing through town, do yourself a favor and give them a try. I'll definitely be ordering again before my assignment is over.

TLDR: Good pizza at reasonable prices but the wait time is unreasonably long…read more Pretty solid pizza here. Fully customizable. I built my own white pizza with garlic butter herb sauce, fresh mozz, mushrooms, and Italian sausage. It was pretty tasty. I was STARVING so maybe that amplified the flavor. This brings me to my next point... Pizza takes FOREVER. I clocked it and it was a full hour from the moment we ordered. This was particularly unpleasant because I was waiting in the car with my two bored and hungry toddlers. If you have kids, you get it. Not ideal. By the way, we tried to call ahead and no one picked up the phone (we tried a couple times). I should also add that the prices are very reasonable here. The kids menu pizzas are very cheap and more than enough food to fill them up.
