I have picked up take-out a few times recently and have been very happy with the food. The pitas and baba ganoush are especially good. I enjoyed the falafel gyro - a different flavor/texture of falafel than I've had elsewhere, but enjoyable. Baklava has nice crispy pastry; plenty of honey and not soggy. I understand that COVID has put a lot of financial pressures on all of us...but if the plan was to cut costs with iceberg lettuce then they are going overboard. Food is ok, not the best Mediterranean I've had by any means, but I had a really disappointing experience. I put in my order online half an hour in advance so I could pick it up on my short half hour break. When I got there he had not even received my order yet. I waited 15 minutes - half of my lunch break - and finally went up and said I had to get back to work. Then the man and woman were both rude to me and she said I had to put the order in in advance and I told her I had. They seemed offended and I really regretted leaving a $4 tip. We have had many people tell us to try this place but every time we had gone before it was closed. Just a little window in the side of a wall on Main Street. Today the sun was shining and the window was open, duh we had to stop. We are self-proclaimed foodies but went in with no expectations other than that it was going to be fantastic because someone told us so. I ordered the Chicken Gyro salad and the hubs ordered the Lamb Gyro plate. We waited at a cute little table soaking up the sun but the order was ready in about 10 minutes. We decided we really liked that little table in the sun so just enjoyed our meal there. Both of the orders were spot on. We got the spicy tzatziki and feta on both orders... did you hear that? SPICY TZATZIKI... and it was soooo good! The food was so fresh and the chicken was so flavorful. I would tell you about the lamb, but... Hubs said it was great. Anyway, can't say more good about it. Service was great... seems like a husband and wife team and both were so friendly. Food was done to perfection and Spicy Tzatziki... And biggest bonus was the little table and sunshine in Oregon in October. If you haven't gone, go... just don't try to go on a lazy Sunday afternoon because they are closed on Sundays. Absolutely disgusting, this is some of the worst food I have ever tried in Hillsboro. The lentil soups was so salty it was inedible. The gyro plate was over salted, and overcooked. Just dry spongy "meat" and I use the team meat loosely. All on a bed of very wet lettuce. I tried to politely ask for something else but he asked me "what am I supposed to do?" To witch I replied I'd like to please try something else and just said no. The amount of bread was very generous although it was very stale and I think he just heats it up in a microwave. Such an underrated Mediterranean spot in Hillsboro. I love the Falafel sandwich here. The ingredients are fresh, the falafel is hot and fresh (a wee bit dry) and the sandwich is not messy. That's one of my favorite things here, more often than not when I get done eating a gyro or wrap the left overs look like roadkill. This one is not. Special mention to seasoned fries here, they are amazing. I put some of mine into the wrap which made the sandwich bomb ! Maybe they should add this on the menu , lol! We tried this place during the Hillsboro Tuesday night market this past week. It was amazing! My wife got the grape leaves pita and I got the falafel pita. Everything was melt in your mouth delicious! The falafel was moist and light and well as the pita bread. The grape leaves literally melted in my wife's mouth... her comment "now these are what grape leaves are supposed to taste like"... note she grew up to getting them freshly made by her Lebanese grandma. FRESH AS HELL. On a hot day in Hillsboro, I was craving something that would take my mind off of the glaring sun. Abu Rasheed, the walk up gyro window on Main Street, fit the bill perfectly. The location is tiny, but they do have a few seats inside. There are also tables (and umbrellas!!! Shade!!!) outside if you have time to relax. For gyros, you can get lamb, chicken, beef, or falafel. Then you have the option of getting regular tzatziki, spicy tzatziki, or tahini sauce. Finally, you can add feta for an additional $0.50. I ordered the chicken gyro with spicy tzatziki and added feta. The employees are all very friendly and prepared my order quickly. The gyro bread was fresh, warm, and delightfully fluffy, while the spicy tzatziki added a nice balance of flavor to the meat and veggies. It was at once filling and refreshing due to the combo of fresh lettuce and tomato, diced chicken, tangy feta, and lightly spicy tzatziki. I look forward to trying more of their gyros!
