The entire business is running a Big Scam...$12,000 later we have furniture broken..Antique China Cabinet..broke off leg and then put small angled piece screwed it in.. totally broke out curved glass Boxes & boxes full of broken items..Held our cargo hostage by saying they needed $5000 to get it back then they reduced..our cargo never went across country to Missouri from California..We cancelled the delivery the day before they said it would leave still charged more money... I was supposed to have purchased Insurance ...I definitely should have been more careful...My Brother was very went back to stay with him..H gave us his Home...The salesman and others knew our circumstances & totally took us for a tough expensive ride...Does anyone know how to actually get in touch with them? read more

I hired this company to move me last Aug/2024. Due to them having a new employee that barely worked my move went over time alloted and estimate quoted. I complained to guy there in charge and he stated he was new. so what happens and this is after i start throwing things off the truck myself. i get charged extra for us going over time. consumer beware. read more

NOT THE SAME "QUALITY" SERVICE of the past !! My last move was the 3rd time I've used this company for a house move, so I feel confident in saying that the "qualify care" NO longer exists ... I now know that there has been a change in ownership, and along with that, a completely new approach has been adopted related to care of furniture and precious belongings. Gone are the days of carefully, wrapping and protecting the furniture during a move!! Now, the moving crew is all about the speed of the move with NO REGARD for resulting damage... moving 2-3 chairs at a time and knocking them into doorways, etc. !! God help you if you have the misfortune of getting "Lamar" as the crew chief (terrible attitude!!). You would be in much better hands If you're fortunate enough to get "Mike" to lead the crew, but even he can't be everywhere and minimize the damage being done to your precious furniture/investment. I have NEVER had as much damage to my furniture from any previous moves!! DISGRACEFUL SERVICE, and as previously said the "QUALITY" service provided in the past NO LONGER EXISTS!! DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT USE ABSOLUTE MOVING AND STORAGE FOR YOUR MOVE! We had a very simple in-town move that we hired them for. The guy who came to our house was very nice, and made it seem like it was a very simple job for them to do. It wasn't a big house by any means, and we had packed up 1/3 or so of the house already, including most of the dishware. He said it would be one day, and gave us an estimate (as it would be hourly since it was in-town). On moving day, it was a different story. The group showed up late, and also showed no initiative, taking as long as possible to pack things up, all while audibly complaining the whole time. Here are the highlights: - They ended up needed another day to do the move. This wasn't planned for, meaning my son's bed, all of our sheets, towels, pillows, even toilet paper were packed in the BACK of the truck, meaning we couldn't get to them. We literally had no furniture, not blankets, nothing. -Because it required a second day, our cost was nearly TWICE what our estimate was. - Even though boxes were labeled, they just put them wherever. Things were haphazardly thrown into boxes. - Perishable food from our fridge & freezer were put into a box, thrown on the truck, which we were unable to get to till the next day, meaning we had to throw out about $200 worth of food. - When we contacted them (just trying to get in touch with anyone was difficult in itself) about the terrible service we received, we were basically told "tough luck" "It was your fault" and that they weren't going to do anything. And they haven't. In conclusion, we received terrible service, and we're making everyone we know aware not to use Absolute Moving and Storage. Our real estate agent was shocked and embarrassed, so you can count on his company not recommending them anymore as well. Do yourself a favor, and find literally anyone else to help you with your move. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Mom moved across parking lot. Movers did not use blankets to wrap her furniture which resulted in extensive damage. After going round and round with company, submitting forms multiple times, sending pictures, etc.. and fighting this for over a month, they said they will not cover any damages. read more

We were very happy with our movers from Absolute. They were very professional, treated our things with thoughtfulness and respect, and when it turned out the only elevator in our 4th floor apartment building wasn't working they carried as much as they could up 4 flights of stairs, leaving the heaviest boxes as well as sleep sofa and piano for next delivery day- 4 days from now which is pretty reasonable given it's a holiday weekend and everyone is super busy. CONSUMER BE AWARE. Worst experience ever, this company talks a good talk but was less than professional. This company was paid almost $9000.00 to move our home 435 miles from the coast to the Mountains. It took one day to load a day to drive and a day to unload. It was a 8 hour trip, on my drive up I received several phone calls from the office wanting payment, I explained to them that I was on the interstate driving and would have to call them back when we got there, I was told that they would not unload until they were paid. I am traveling with my 78 year old handicapped mother in the middle of rush hour and they want me to pay them now. I wasn't happy because now I have to scramble for my debt card to give them payment, I gave the lady my card but the daily limit on the card was $3000.00 the lady told me that I needed to call the bank and have them push my daily limit out so I could pay them. Don't forget I am driving on interstate 85 I explained that several times, I made the comment that they were going to get their damn money but this was impossible for me to do while driving. The next thing I know she put the owner Anthony on the phone and he wants to know what the problem is, after explaining the problem with the daily limit he says I could pay with more than one card he didn't care how I had to pay, so I fumbled around and got my wallet again and took out another card, so he was able to split the payment on the two cards. (The crew wasn't even going to unload until the next day. ) The next day the crew arrived and started unloading, took all day because we had 2 trucks, half of the stuff was never unwrapped just put in the basement, couldn't go over the items for inspection because most of the furniture was packed with boxes on top of them. Two days later I was moving boxes and found several pieces of my antique furniture has been disassembled and not put back together, lamps did have there hardware, so I called and spoke with Anthony about it and he said he would call me back, he never did, after calling both Anthony and Vince off and on for several weeks. All I wanted is the hardware to put my stuff back together, no one knows where it went. So I left a message that I was going to file a complaint with BBB, then I got a phone call from someone named julie, she told me that the screws and hardware should be in the cabinets, but it was not there. she asked me to send pictures to make sure that everything was unpacked, (because they knew that there was stuff that hadn't been unwrapped and put back together) no one has a clue where it went. Anyway never found my hardware for my 2 antique cabinets or for my lamps, they sent me a check based upon what they wanted to pay and sent a letter telling me that they had settled my claim. The moral of this story is make sure you have them unwrap all your furniture and put everything together before they leave requardless of what time it is. Owner and manager were both less than helpful. And both of them lied about returning my call. They just wanted me to go away, they got their money and were done, their customer service sucks. I am disappointed to say I feel like I got scammed by this company. I rarely, if ever, make critical reviews, but as time has gone on, I have gotten more and more upset about my experience, which prompted me to write this review. First, allow me to preface by saying my estimate was done over the phone, so I knew it might be off some. I was given two movers for an estimated four hours. This was pretty typical of what I was getting from other moving companies as well, some of whom did more extensive estimating. I was moving from a three bedroom apartment (only two of which had any furniture) into a house 3 miles down the road, and as an experienced mover, I had all of my furniture disassembled the night before and all my 30 boxes in the garage ready to go. So when they called me and requested to come two hours earlier than scheduled, I was able to accommodate them. The two movers they sent were very nice and respectful and took care of my belongings, which I'm grateful for. However, they took an exorbitant amount of time to do the job. It took them nearly two hours to load the truck, partially because one of them spent 20 minutes disassembling a piece of furniture that didn't need disassembling (I didn't notice it until midway through). They reassured me that that was the longest part of the process and once they got to the house, it would be a quick upload. Because they came earlier in the day, it was lunchtime when we were finished with the apartment and going to the house. They asked to stop to pick up lunch somewhere, which I obliged, thinking I wouldn't be charged for that time (wrong!). Once at the house, it seemed the wind got knocked from their sails and they were moving really slow. I would see one at a time, which I just figured was because one was unloading the truck, but retrospectively, I think was just a poor use of time. It took them 5 HOURS to unload my belongings into the house (again, two bedroom apartment worth of stuff), partially because they kept talking breaks (one kept taking bathroom breaks but was on the phone) and personal calls. So my four hour estimate turned into a 7 hour job. I expected the actual time to vary from the estimate (again, I've moved many times so this isn't my first rodeo), but not by three hours. Friends who helped me move fragile items over the night before were shocked, given the amount of stuff I had, that it even took them the estimated four hours. When the one guy called the owner to go over the cost, he tried to shave 10 minutes off my time (partially because he had actually stopped ten minutes prior, but ran to the bathroom and took a break before calling the job in) and the owner refused the ten minute cut. This really rubbed me the wrong way, especially given that they had taken a half hour lunch break and at least a half hour's worth of five minute breaks throughout the day. I don't know if it was because I was so easy going or what, but I definitely feel like I was taken advantage of and it cost me $300 more than I had budgeted for the move (and this was even after I was flexible enough to allow them to come 2 hours early!). The kicker is that I moved to Wilmington from Chicago last year and that move actually cost me less than this move did. To put that in perspective, a 950 mile move was less expensive than a 3 mile move. That just doesn't make sense to me. I could see if I was disorganized or needed them to disassemble/reassemble furniture (or even had a LOT of stuff), but I didn't. So unfortunately, I definitely don't recommend this company, unless you don't mind throwing away money. read more

We went with the company because the woman we were dealing with on the phone was more than helpful. Unfortunately she left before we moved and another person took over as estimator. Over the phone she gave a better estimate than he did in person! Vince was the guy who low balled the estimate by several thousand pounds. The biggest issue is not all of our things were delivered. I had a list and numbered every box. I knew what was missing and they stone walled us on the phone. I finally had to block our number so they would answer the phone. They claimed they didn't have the boxes and there was no other place they could have been. They were removed from the house and a storage locker. After several months they finally compensated us but not by much. They wore me down with all the phone calls and being non-responsive. If I ever have to move again I will sell everything I can rather than move! They did complete the move and it was a hot rainy day. If not for that they would not have gotten a minus 3 rating. read more

I agree with other reviews that the guys doing the work are great but the owner Anthony is one rude SOB. They packed everything fine, I gave them a big tip, and then the trouble started. On my way home, a lady called me as I was driving and asked for payment. I explained that I was on the road and if they would call in the morning it would be no problem. She said she would tell them and hung up. A guy called me back immediately and his opening words were a very aggressive, "Hey buddy I need your payment right now". I explained that I was the customer and he better drop the pissy attitude, but he continued so I hung up on him. He called back and I asked him if he was ready to talk more calmly. He explained he was Anthony the owner and didn't have time for my crap. Throughout a short conversation he went in and out of aggressive attacks vs. acknowledging that his company had communication and other issues revolving around having too much work. I reminded him several times that I was the customer and didn't care what his internal struggles were, but that I expected to be treated well. Ultimately I paid him, but he never apologized and was rude the entire time. If you have to deal with this company, work with Vince Terry on the quote, and the guys doing the work will likely be great as they were for me, but if there's a chance you have to deal with Anthony just be prepared for a confrontation unless you are willing to accept his crap. read more

Absolute did a fantastic job with our recent move. They carefully wrapped, some pieces were double-wrapped, the furniture and appliances. I was very impressed with the care they took with our home goods and the fact that they were very aware and careful of the walls, stairs and railings. They completed our move in a very timely fashion, without a ding or nick. Our closing date when purchasing the home was a moving target and Absolute stayed very friendly and flexible every time I had to call to reschedule! What should have taken four or more hours took about two and the movers arrived 15 minutes early to my storage location. They handled my property with care. Absolute Moving & Storage out of Holly Ridge, NC, was fantastic and a true life saver when another moving company left us in a real jam. We were moving from Topsail Beach to Asheville, NC and had to move before our settlement on the sale of our house on 4/25/14. I called Anthony the Tuesday morning before our Monday, 4/24/17 move because the other company had overbooked despite making arrangements a month in advance. Anthony told me he wasn't in the office and would call be back around 11 a.m. He followed up and said his crew would be at our house at 8 a.m. on 4/24 and would deliver the next day and their procedures. The crew was early, courteous, careful and accommodating. When Anthony called with the weight of our stuff, he said they could deliver that evening instead of the next day. We were impressed and Absolute Moving delivered as promise. I can't thank them enough! read more
