Unprofessional and in a rush. On 11/11/25, my landlord provided me with the contact information for Absolute Appliance Repair. On 11/14/25, I called the business and spoke with technician Mikhail Roytman. I explained that the baking function of my oven was not working. He said he could repair it and scheduled a visit for the next day between 9-10 AM. On 11/15/25, he arrived on time. I greeted him and offered a mask and shoe covers, which he declined, stating he couldn't work with a mask due to breathing issues. I allowed him to proceed. He inspected the oven for a few minutes using a wire tester and stated that he identified the issue. He said he had the replacement part in his vehicle and quoted a total repair cost of $345. I told him my landlord would cover the full repair cost. He then asked, "How much do you have right now?" I told him I could provide $75 immediately. At this point, he stated: * The service call was $115, then * The service call would be $75 + tax ($95) The stated amount changed multiple times. I repeated that I only had $75. He wrote a handwritten receipt for that amount. When I asked how he preferred to be paid, he said, "Anything." After confirming Venmo, he displayed his QR code, and I sent $75. I asked when the repair would be completed, and he said he needed to retrieve the part. As he left, he added that he would finish the job "when you have the rest." After he left, I called to clarify the next steps. He said the $75 "barely covered the service fee" and that he would return when the remaining amount was available. I explained that the service fee had not been stated beforehand and that my landlord was prepared to pay in full; I only wanted a clear explanation of charges. During this call, he yelled "Cancel payment!" repeatedly and hung up. I immediately requested the return of the $75 through Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, and Apple Pay. Shortly after my partner posted a review summarizing the incident, he texted me from a different number, saying he would refund the $75 if the review was removed. He later left a voicemail stating that the Yelp review was inaccurate and reaffirming that the $75 was a service-call charge. At no point did he wait for me to contact my landlord for payment, despite being told they would cover the full repair cost. The repair was not completed, and he did not return the $75 after telling me to cancel the payment. March 26, 2025. The tempered glass on the interior of our oven fractured after running the oven's high heat cleaning cycle. We called Mikhail, sent him the model number and he was able to order and receive the new part in 2 days and then came over and installed it. He works thoughtfully and thoroughly. He has a great deal of experience and knows exactly what he is doing. This could have been a real mess with lots of broken glass, but he worked carefully and there were no issues. He vacuumed the area just to be sure there were no little pieces of shrapnel left behind. We've had Mikhail repair a washer and a dryer in the past and his performance has always been fast and clean. We will continue to call Mikhail whenever an appliance needs repair. read more

Very strange. Their website says they "specialize in serving all models and brands of major refrigerators and other appliances", and they specifically list the LG brand. And yet, when I called for repair of our LG refrigerator, they said they do not work on those. read more

First time using Absolute Appliances Repair, and had an absolutely positive experience. Called Mikhail on a Thursday when my 10 plus year GE Profile oven stopped heating up, and he was available the very next day, which didn't work for me unfortunately, so instead he offered to come by Saturday AM up with no surcharge for the weekend. Came by promptly and replaced my oven ignition system, which at $350 was not inexpensive, but certainly better than a replacement oven. Given supply chain issues (I found with research that these days it can take a while to get the oven you want) I opted for repair, and Mikhail had the item in his car, and did the replacement on the spot. No waiting for a part from the manufacturer here, which is a real plus in my book. In all, happy as the oven is now functioning well and online in time for holiday baking, and all within a day or so of it breaking down. Mikhail was positive, cracked a few jokes and seemed capable and knowledgeable. A good experience in my book. read more

Mikhail, with Absolute Appliance Repair was here right on time, and extremely knowledgeable about the situation of the washer and dryer! he explained that he had to replace the water pump so that it can spin properly! And that the drye's control panel has to be replaced which is more expensive than the machine! He was kind and and honest with what had to be done! Like others here, I based my call to Mikhail at Absolute Appliance Repair on YELP reviews and commentaries. The raves I read here were right on target. "I'll be there in an hour", Mikhail told me in our very first call. WoW! ... and sure enough he was there. He had his mask, and followed Covid protocols cheerfully. Mikhail then ran inspection on my dryer and gave me some sage advice that I needed to ruminate upon. "Maybe it's time for a new one instead of paying for an expensive repair", he suggested. Mikhail then gave me advice and pointers on which dryers to avoid, and why. He was right about one thing, for sure.... this machine has 20 times the settings I will ever use. It's like my Dad used to say, ... the more buzzers and whistles it has, the more buzzers and whistles there are to break down. I'm a guy...I use two settings... Hot and Start! Anyway, I digress.... So, I asked Mikhail for some other appliance information about my refrigerator and he steered me in the right direction. I'll take that advice... Next, he "took a look" at my oven door which was wonky. Within a few minutes he had the door off, reset, and back on again... Done! I have to echo everyone else's reviews - Mikhail is awesome. He's an "old school" repair guy, super honest and he charges reasonable prices. He came out to look at problems I had with 2 refrigerator-freezers. The first one wasn't broken, but apparently the door doesn't always get closed completely, so I was getting MASSIVE snow inside. Rather than fix something that wasn't broken, Mikhail PATIENTLY explained to me what the problem was :) For the second refrig-freezer, the frozen juices and ice cream weren't freezing all the way, even when it was turned up all the way. This refrig-freezer is a much older model. Mikhail verified the temp and the fan/motor were working, then explained that the frig is just old and is leaking a bit of Freon. He said he COULD put more Freon in, but that it would also just slowly leak out as well i.e. the whole refrig is on it's last legs :( I also like the way Mikhail charges. For Novato, it was a $95 service call that would have been credited against any repairs, if necessary (again, "old school", like is "used to be"). Mikhail's process is to come out, assess the problem and determines the fix. Then he provides a written quote (less the $95 service charge). This was very different from the other appliance companies I dealt with who charged as much as $240 for the first hour and $190 thereafter (charged in 1/2 hour increments)... Finally, Mikhail was available and happy to come out the next day vs all of the other companies I contacted who either 1) had full VM's (Rosado Appliance), 2) asked me NOT leave a message, rather to call back during normal business hours...which is when I was calling (I can't remember which co this was), 3) couldn't send someone out at all 4) could send someone, but not for 2 weeks or more (Appliance Techs of Marin), 5) were not currently working in "Novato" (Kelly's Appliance), or 6) they never called me back (Scott's Appliance). Replaced my ice maker and the "new" one isn't working properly. There appears to be water dripping into the ice, creating a plate of ice across the bottom. Also, the extension hose on the kitchen sink faucet appears to have been changed as it's shorter and doesn't recede back w/out pushing. Didn't answer when I reached out about these things. I called Mikhail based on a friend's recommendation and to his credit he showed up a few hours later. Also, he seemed to have fixed the issue I was having with my fridge. This is the reason I have given him 2 stars. The rest is all negative: * He was grumpy and complaining about most everything for the 30 mins he was at my place. * He kept answering phone calls while on the job. * In his frustration with the appliance he scratched the metal - fortunately, it was in the back and not visible. * Did I mention he complained continuously about the design of the appliance? * He walked in water spills with his shoes on leaving a track of dirt throughout the house. * He didn't want to leave the appliance in the way he found it until I insisted. * Finally, he charged $200 for 30 mins of his time. If I didn't have a work commitment that was due right then, I would have told him off -- but then again I didn't want to hear his whining and complaining any more than I already had. I am surprised at how unprofessional he was given that I generally trust Yelp and was quite impressed with his ratings. Use him at your own risk. I certainly won't ever again. read more

Based upon the YELP reviews, I called Absolute Appliance Repair to fix my dryer and was lucking enough to get Mikhail. He came the next morning, diagnosed the issue within a few minutes and because he had all the needed parts on hand, fixed my dryer within 25 minutes. He also gave me tips on what to do to prevent this issue from happening again. After waiting for Sears Home Repair for 6 weeks, only to have them cancel my appointment twice, I am kicking myself for not calling our local repair service sooner. I cannot recommend Mikhail highly enough! I called him yesterday afternoon as our Kenmore Elite Front Loader Washer had started filling with water and leaking on the floor. We set an appt for him to come between 10-noon today. He arrived right at 10:00 and diagnosed my problem with an initial look at the Washer. Within 20 minutes he had opened it up, reassured me that I didn't need to buy a new one and replaced the part (he had it in his truck! no waiting!). His price was incredibly reasonable as well. Was able to get Mikhail to come out "next day" to fix our dryer; I had researched the problem and price, and it was accurate. He fixed it in about 30 minutes, and I was happy because I didn't want clothes piling up as the cold weather was now here, and the clothes are thicker!
