After the first treatment, I couldn't believe the results -- every spot on my skin that was raised was flat, and my breakouts were reduced by 50% within 3 treatments (I had the first 3 close together because I was getting ready for a big event). Now it's over a year later, and I see Steven for i-derm (aka galvanic) facials every other week because of the amazing results I've gotten. The Face Loft is a gorgeous little space, impeccably decorated, and Steven is one of the warmest, kindest people I've ever spent time with. He is really one of those rare super gifted people who's better at what he does than anyone else; we're lucky he's here in Chicago. There's definitely periods of zone-out, but this was probably the most conversation I've ever had during a treatment - not a bad thing in my opinion, because she truly cares about what she's doing and wants to share it. I did feel a bit chided at some points - you know when you go to the dentist and they make you feel guilty for not flossing enough? - but Juliette has a motherly vibe that makes it more palatable. Amy is meticulous and a perfectionist, and I wouldn't settle for anything less when it comes to my face. It also helps that she is the absolute sweetest soul with the best personality! Amy is regularly booked far out, and she's 1000% worth the wait. I have been seeing Christine for facials and microneedling, and am getting for my first halo. I received a gift from my sister for micro needling and Botox focusing on lower face, neck and jowls. The injector asked me if I had ever had Botox and I said "no". A handful of times I had only had filler. She proceeded to inject my neck and lower face stating it would give a tightening effect to jowl and neck area. Over the next week I literally watched my face age with jowls becoming more prominent each day. I called the injector Valerie in a panic explaining what happened. She basically told me that she forgot to mention that increased jowls can be a side effect and that she was really thinking I could use filler instead of Botox but did the Botox bcuz that's what my sister wanted. I told her if she didn't think I should have had Botox she should have never done it as she is the professional not my sister. Needless to say a lot of money was spent and I look older after the injections. Of course they wanted a follow up after I sent them pics but the only solution is $2k in fillers which I honestly can't afford being a single mom with two kids. I told them I couldn't afford it and I never heard back. Hoping this Botox wears off and things get better.

Booking was easy (I did it online), and you feel pampered every step of the way. After you're checked in you're walked into a locker room where you can change into a bath robe and slippers. From there you can sit in a lounge with a heated neck pillow while you await your massage therapist. My massage therapist was Gogo. She did a wonderful job and accommodated all of my requests. She even gave me suggestions on how to stretch for the troubles I was having. After you're done, you have access to showers to get cleaned up and continue relaxing. They also offer memberships for monthly massages which I think I"m going to get soon! I'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the most disappointing spa experiences I've had. I booked a 60-minute deep tissue massage with the scalp oil and Hypervolt add-ons. Neither add-on was performed... my scalp was never touched and no massage gun was used though I was initially charged for both (they were only refunded after I reached out). The massage itself felt rushed and incomplete. Most areas of my body were barely worked on, and I left still in pain. When I got up, I noticed the digital wall clock in the room had been partially covered with a towel.. specifically, only the minutes portion was covered. I later realized the session had ended about 5-10 minutes early. Management later claimed that covering the clock is standard practice for guest comfort, but that explanation does not make sense. The clock was not bright at all, and there was a much brighter light left on in the corner of the room the entire time. If a digital clock is supposedly too bright and distracting, then it would make more sense to use a standard wall clock or not have a visible clock at all. Partially covering only the minutes, the part that tells you exactly how much time is left... felt like a very shady business practice rather than a comfort measure. I was also told afterward that my massage was shortened because I arrived late. However, when I checked in, the front desk assured me they were able to push my appointment back and accommodate me so that I would still receive my full 60 minutes. At no point before or during the massage was I informed that my session would be cut short. Letting a guest believe they are getting their full service and then ending early without any communication feels unprofessional. When I contacted them about all of this, the only thing offered was a complimentary add-on for a future visit. but only if I book and pay for another full-price massage. After already spending over $220 and being this unhappy, I don't find it reasonable to be asked to come back and spend another $200 just to receive a small add-on for free. A partial or full refund for the actual massage would have been far more appropriate. I have since been ignored. Overall, this experience did not match the premium price at all. I left sore, stressed, and disappointed. I would not recommend Spavia Elmhurst based on this visit.

Maddy took my call and answered any questions I had, and was sweet and professional to work with. I was also sent a text reminder, which I appreciated and shows that they are interested in using up to date scheduling technology, which is a really good sign. Second, the medspa itself. The entry is around the back of the building, which I imagine is important for anyone wanting to be more discrete. Inside, the space was clean and beautiful - it has a relaxing atmosphere and doesn't feel overly clinical. I was immediately greeted and asked if I wanted a beverage, and then was ushered into a second waiting comfy room to fill out my intact paperwork. The music is typical relaxing spa music and they have it at just the right volume throughout the spa. After I filled out my paperwork, Maddy (who just happened to also be doing my facial!) came in and we talked about some of my skin concerns and goals, she was extremely knowledgeable and also just so sweet and friendly, she put me immediately at ease (this was my first HydraFacial). Next, the treatment itself. First off: the treatment room was a great temperature, no harsh overhead lights, and again that relaxing spa music. I changed into the little robe I was given and settled onto the gloriously warm treatment table. The next 50 minutes were just pure bliss, as Maddy expertly did each step of the Elite HydraFacial. It was much gentler than I had expected, like a tiny vacuum on my face. In between, I believe she was putting different serums on, and she did the red LED light for inflammation and anti aging. It was all just so wonderful and relaxing. Maddy was amazing! Afterwards my skin was as soft as a baby's bum, and it wasn't at all red or blotchy, which also surprised me! I went to lunch immediately afterwards without feeling the least bit self conscious, and in fact felt that "celebrity glow" that's so elusive. I also bought a couple of the products Maddy suggested and am already feeling the difference in my skin.
