I did have very strong ideas that may not be for everyone and Karen was able to adjust her design ethos to mine. So, Karen & Dick worked on design, Ed on construction and Dawna on financials. There are many more aspects of the project and people involved. The entire crew consisted of people who are masters at their craft. They were respectful of our time and our home. We were quoted 6-8 weeks for a full Kitchen remodel. 98% was done in 5 1/2 weeks. The budget was firm and detailed. Any changes made during the project were noted and costs were adjusted. As a long time visitor of the Ikea in Bolingbrook, I was very curious as to what the Schaumburg…read morelocation was like. I think that there are pros and cons for both locations. Bolingbrook might be easier to access (there is quite a bit of construction around Schaumburg currently) and I would also debate it is not as busy as this location. However, I did notice the Schaumburg store is not only much cleaner and well maintained, but has way more showrooms and creative displays. I guess if I were buying or in a hurry I go to Bolingbrook and if I was meandering and idea hunting I'd go to Schaumburg. The reason why there are so many showrooms is because this store spans three floors and is in fact, one of the largest Ikeas in America! It is huge and even as a veteran Ikea shopper I still got turned around a couple times. One thing that's nice is this store has the ability to stock more items so I found they had all the items I wanted available. I also noticed this location appeared to have customer service at every corner. I don't know if it's because I went on the weekend but I was thoroughly impressed at how well staffed they were and how friendly employees were during our interactions.

Lauren, who has an excellent working reputation with our the builder, listened to our thoughts and ideas and came up with some great suggestions. At the same time, she did not take offense if we didn't implement a specific idea or suggestion. We had thought of doing two-tone cabinets and wondered if that would be too much in our small kitchen. Lauren assured us it would work (and why!) and as a result we love our navy base cabinets and vanilla top cabinets. We love the sink and faucet! I love the shelf above the sink; and my husband got the small pantry cabinet he envisioned, which has enabled us to keep the counters free of clutter. Lauren understood our vision, and her attention to detail was second to none. We appreciated being able to borrow cabinet panels to take with us to pick out flooring, countertops and wall color. We now have an updated kitchen (no more soffits!) in our 1950s home, without losing it's warmth and charm.

We called back and scheduled the in home measurement the same day, booked the service, and had it installed about a week later. On the day they did the installation, I had removed the previous sink but couldn't get it outside by myself. Art, the installer, helped me carry it down when he arrived, and was able to install the new counter and sink in less than an hour. Overall, a pretty easy and reasonably priced process. I'll likely go back to them when I replace my half bath and kitchen counters.
