I have been here a few times and it is from my visits a good hospital. The nurses are always friendly. When walking lost through the halls several workers have politely stopped me in reference to the dumb look on my face to ask me if I needed help. This was nice cause I would have wondered forever without asking for directions out with my determination to complete the maze one my own. read more

The wait was short but the quality of care by the doctor was ridiculous. Extremely overpriced for the care of my son with total disregard for any previous interactions with other medical doctors. Dehydration seems to be the go to diagnosis for everything and yet they failed to provide any treatment. If he's so dehydrated why wasn't he given an IV? Complete waste of time and money!! I have completely lost my confidence in the healthcare system after seeing three doctors and no real diagnosis. read more

By far the vest hospital I've ever been to! Spent about an hour in a half there with back pain. They immediately took care of me and everyone was so passionate and sweet to me! I recommend this place to anyone! I hate hospitals and try avoiding them at all cost but they sure changed my perspective! read more

My husband was taken by ambulance to abrazo arrowhead just before the outbreak thank goodness because he had pneumonia. He's also diabetic. Do they not have a nutritionist on staff. For lunch he was served spaghetti. If you know anything about a diabetics diet they can only have a few carbs per day. Spaghetti is loaded with carbs. When he was at home his blood tests were around 104 which is excellent and doesn't require him to take additional insulin. His Dr had told him in October because his numbers were so good he only needed to test his blood once per week. At Abrazo they had to check his blood four times per day and give him insulin everyday because his numbers were well over 150. They didn't have a menu with diabetic food to choose from. It took me three attempts to get his nurse to come to his room so I could get an update. That was a waste of time. Not one medical personnel had written anything in his chart. It was blank!!! One CNA was very nice. She would let himself hold onto the IV and use a cane during the day to use the bathroom. The next day a new CNA would not take the alarm off but when he would call for assistance no one would come. So he started to get up but the cane fell. He was still sitting on the side of the bed. When the CNA came because of the alarm she was yelling at him so loud and she grabbed his cane and wouldn't let him use it. She was screaming so loud at him that immediately there were five additional staff in his room. There was a student Dr who wanted to let him walk the short distance to the bathroom but he apparently didn't have the authority but he obviously saw how ridiculous the situation was. He was perfectly capable to take the five steps to the bathroom. Then this same CNA who didn't respond to his request in the first place responded by yelling at him. She would not close the bathroom door until he was sitting down on the toilet. He was capable of standing. They didn't give him a shower each day and because he couldn't get out of bed to use the bathroom they ended up spending whole lot more time changing his sheets and gown. I know the staff get busy but I have been hospitalized at a different hospital and I couldn't get out of bed ever by myself but when I called for help someone was there within five minutes. When he was being released I asked his nurse if the pneumonia was in both lungs and where it was located. The location makes a huge difference to their recovery. Again she looked at his and I received the exact same words every time I asked her a question which was I DON'T KNOW. I'm sure their bill will be huge. That's what they cared about was how much they could charge but little about quality time with him and showing respect to him as a patient. I will do everything in my power to never have an ambulance go to any Abrazo facility. read more

I can not say enough about Abrazo. My mom spent 2 1/2 weeks here from ICU to Neuro and the 3rd floor crew. The Doctors, the amazing wound care team, the nursing Staff and case management were amazing. Even the kitchen staff was awesome. Arrowhead has improved waiting. I've never waited any longer than 15 minutes as it seems as if the nurses have gotten nicer. I just don't like that when they put you in the chairs your so close to your "neighbor" ... Im glad why I'm here in personal I wouldn't want the world to know... The emergency room staff was fast and efficient. Yet they took the time to explain the heart and lung issuues clearly and more than once if needed. They made a good transition to the icu . I would come here again if God forbid we have another emergency. read more

My grandpa was admitted to this hospital last Tuesday and passed away there on Monday. We had a terrible experience and seeing the reviews horrify me... I wish he went to a different hospital but he had to go here since the other hospitals near his house were full. Now I'm beginning to think I know why this hospital was empty... I am deeply saddened by the loss of my grandpa but since the day we got there I can't help but think what could have been done differently if he went somewhere else. We were told by the RN that my grandpa probably wouldn't make it to hospice (meaning he wouldn't make the ride there) so it was best for him to stay at the hospital and pass. Yet the DOCTOR was pushing for him to go to hospice. His reasoning was because they needed to utilize the rooms in the ICU for other patients. I completely understand however we were told by the RN that if indeed there was another person in desperate need, we could just move him to a different room, out of the ICU. The doctor didn't agree. He said it's comforting and there is a priest at hospice. I told the DOCTOR that the RN didn't think he would make it to another facility and what his thoughts were. I asked him "what do you think? Would he make it?" The doctor replied, "no there's a possibility he won't" ok...... then why would we move my dying grandfather and make him suffer?!?!?! Our hearts are hurting enough... all we wanted was for him to pass away in peace surrounded by his loved ones, not in a van or ambulance. After the Dr left... the RN came in the room and asked what was just discussed. I explained everything to him in tears. The RN APOLOGIZED for that DOCTORS unprofessional behavior and said "do not worry, your grandpa is not going anywhere" the RN said you don't worry about what he said, you guys spend the time left you have with him. My grandma said he was an angel sent by God. I don't understand how a human being can be so selfless and cruel. He doesn't care about people. He clearly cared about his paycheck. I don't recommend coming here but if you have to I hope you don't see this Dr. I won't post his name because I don't feel that's right. My grandpa is gone and there's nothing that can change that. THANK YOU to all the amazing RNs in the ICU! It makes me cry just knowing you were genuinely there to help the people! We had a bad experience with one just one RN. My grandpa said he couldn't breathe and instead of listening to him she said "you know what that means? I'm going to sedate you" even though he was responsive and coherent enough to say NO! She didn't listen and shoved large pills down his throat when she was told he couldn't swallow big pills. She was told this and still did it. That was the last day I saw my grandpa awake and I didn't know that would be the last time we ever talked to him or saw him with his eyes opened. He said NO i do not want to be sedated, but she did it with no explanation. She treated him poorly. He was a person that deserved to be treated with respect. Every staff member that we interacted with was so genuinely concerned about my wife's well-being and answered every single question we had. My husband was admitted to Abrazo Arrowhead 3 days ago. There was no wait in the ER and he was seen quickly. Note that the word quickly will not be used again in this review. Once determined that he needed to be admitted, we waited 6 hours for a regular room. In fairness, we were told they were busy and there was a shortage of beds. The nurses on the 3rd floor (where he currently is) have been very nice. My main complaint and the reason for only 2 stars are the doctors. They. Are. Nonexistent. The doctor has stopped by twice in 3 days. We're talking 2 minute visits. Both times, as we were talking to the doctor, he was busy texting on his phone and acted like he was doing my husband a great favor by gracing us with his presence. This doctor does not know what is wrong with my husband, nor does he seem to care. There does not seem to be any communication between doctors and nurses. In a nutshell: the ER staff and the nurses are great. The doctors - NOT SO MUCH. read more

I had a surgery at Arrowhead. I was never told in the ED what was wrong w/me---the tech who pushed me to my rm told me I was having surgery. On what? I woke up after the appendectomy and was in the worst pain I have ever been in. I was on my side w/my fash smashed up against the railing, my lower back hurt so badly I could not even cry. Very LOUD nurse says "SO, READY TO GO HOME?" i saaid pls dont talk so loud myhead is pounding, i have to void, my back hurts so bad I couldn't move, I truly mean I have never had back pain like that. Many boring details, just got very poor care. Not one person, incl the surgeon listened to my abdomen. I thought that was like, imp after abd surg?? are they short of nurses? dont know, dont care, just want to share that. I continued to complain of a horrific headache, nurse did not even comment or come back with info. Finally I called the Director of Quality at another hospital that I was working at and explained what was going on. Within an hour the nurse game me something for pain, I was taken for a CT and a doctor actually came in to give me the results. Sad, only done because the director at another hospital made a call to administration. Please always be your own advocate or have someone with you who can be. It is obvious that no one cares unless you go above their heads. Health care is such an important field--you're dealing with lives here! If you don't like it, go get a job somewhere that you don't have to interact with people, if I was treated so poorly what about those who aren't able to speak up? I am quiet, easy to get along with, truly not demanding at all, just was in so much pain I couldn't even open my eyes. My pain ended up being something to do with the combo of meds for anesthesia. Thank God I was fine and back to work within a week. All I needed was someone to check it out and get an order for something to decrease my pain! Yet I will never forget how these uncaring people made me feel. Nurse wheeled me to the lobby and walked off, didn't say goodby, didn't even wait for my family to bring the car. I simply cannot be the only person treated this way. read more

I want to make something clear... the nursing staff is dedicated and caring. However, if you work with their business office, keep one hand on your wallet and another on the phone to call a lawyer. I wanted to sue, but my mother didn't want to, perhaps because she is older and likely will need more care. She had major surgery and was scheduled for release on a Friday. After two weeks in the hospital, they sent her home with an oxygen tank and a promise that a home health company would call to deliver more oxygen within a few hours. We went home and waited. We called the home health company, and they said they had no orders. We called the hospital and they said my mother's file had been "torn apart" to enter it into the computer, but it hadn't been entered yet so they had no way to find her prescription for oxygen. !!!!!!!!! My mother said she was feeling fine and to forget it. Needless to say, she didn't stay fine. Later that night the whole family ended up in the hospital again because they said that coming to the ER to get a new prescription was the only way for them to help. Again, the nurses in the ER were good, but the business office person demanded a signature. I advised Mom to refuse, but she signed after this woman PROMISED that because she was returning withing twenty four hours of a discharge from a two week stay, she wouldn't be charged. Yeah, famous last words. And when I tried to explain the situation to the woman from the business office on the phone two months later when the bill arrived, she got snotty and pulled out Judge Judy on me. "Well, you ate the sandwich, didn't you? Do you expect our doctors to work for free?" When someone screws up and puts my mother's health at risk, I expect the idiot who did the screwing up to pay, actually. read more

My daughter has a chronic disease and is in the hospital quite often. Her treatment at this hospital is a joke. She has had this illness for 3 years so she knows her body and the symptoms. Nurses will not listen to her. In fact, two nurses were overheard this am joking about her PTSD. You just can't make this stuff up. RUN to another hospital!!!! read more

She was extremely caring about my wellbeing & went out of her way to help me the next day to make an appointment at a Dr.s office. The whole staff was amazing! Do not go to the ER here. My mom had high blood pressure 260. They released her with BP at 160 and was still unstable and her potassium levels were critically low around 2.0 and did not give her anything for the potassium. Luckily my wife is a nurse, we had to go to Walgreen's and get her potassium supplements. They did a CT scan on her and forgot to hook her IV backup. We had to ask the nurse about it.The next day we had to take her back to the ER. We took her to Banner. I would recommend Banner. I am not exactly sure what happened at Abrazo Arrowhead. It seemed like they take you in and take your money and then get you out fast to clear a room. This was very dangerous for them to release her under her condition. read more

I was quite ill with the flu when it was rampant during flu season and I went to Arrowhead Hospital for treatment because I was having a difficult time managing my symptoms...The Emergency Department staff was fabulous! They treatment me like a member of their own family...After IV fluids, anti-nausea, anti-vomiting medication I felt so much better! New Years Day 2018 I was told best if I went to ER for (eye) symptoms after seeing RN at Minute clinic. This was the closest one, so I went there(never have before). The reception staff and triage experience was soon after arrival. After est 20 mins was in a room where I waited approx.1 hr until someone came in and took my vitals. Est 2 hrs after that - someone came in and told me the Dr.would be in shortly. 30 mins later Dr. came in and did ultrasound. 5 mins-- done. Billing person(very understanding and efficient) entered 15 mins later. While I sat in the ER room with open doors everyone who was being treated during this nasty flu season coughed around me and I felt exposed to that. At least this hosp can consider- while patient is waiting to be seen for that long :Why not OFFER patient a blanket while the room is so cold and the lights are glaring? Imagine: If they had prioritized my case would have been 15 mins and had opened up an ER room to someone more needy?! They also took other cases ahead of me who entered ER room after me. I will likely avoid this ER/hospital if I have to ever use one in future. Be aware: NOT 1 but 2 bills you will receive : 1 for the DR. and 1 for the ER room service. read more

Do NOT bring your baby/toddler here for ER care! Besides being put in a dirty room, (I have pictures, and baby's mom and I both got sick 48 hours later) the staff had NO CLUE how to deal with a 2 year old with DD issues. I knew she needed IV fluids, that was why we were there; we had her to urgent care hours earlier, and we went to the ER per their instructions when she would not drink, continued to vomit, and had no wet diaper in over 12 hours. Nevertheless, the staff tried to guilt trip me over "putting a needle in her". They handed me three little bottles of pedialyte, no nipple, no sippy cup. You can't explain to a kid that they are nauseous from being dehydrated and need to drink! Then it came time for the needle. The staff could not find a vein, used a portable ultrasound unit for 20 minutes. When he did, he did not strap her arm down to a board, then complained that she kept moving! He finally put the board on after I suggested it, long after the needle was inserted. Hell, I was on my phone looking up "giving IV fluids to a baby" and I had more knowledge about what to do after reading that article than the supposed health care professional! We have had good care in the past for adults, but I will never take my granddaughter there again! read more

They diagnosed me incorrectly with a uti,was told to see a urologist, I waited from thur to mon getting worse.first thing urologist said didn't they tell you your liver enzymes are 10x what they should. I cannot even begin to explain how absolutely wonderful the emergency room staff and surgery staff were. I was very emotional about while I was there and then in so much pain because of it... Both staffs were truly beyond what any words can describe. They were helpful, polite, funny, courteous, knowledgeable and comforting. They made a horrible situation a a very comforting experience! This past Sunday I went to the ER for a collapsed lung. After about two hours in the ER I finally was getting prepped for a chest tube. Once that was put in I tried telling the nurse and doctors that I couldn't breathe and was in excruciating pain. They dismissed it and told me to "just breathe" as if I wasn't trying already. As if that wasn't traumatic enough, I got my chest tube taken out yesterday. Dr Patel and the nurse that took it out of me LEFT IT ON THE CHAIR NEXT TO MY BED. What kind of doctor could ever think it's okay to do that, to absolutely traumatize someone by leaving a bloody, smelly, insanely disgusting chest tube right next to them. The only good thing to come out of this hospital was my nurse Kris, who sadly wasn't there when I got my chest tube out. The doctors here are absolutely terrible, I recommend literally any other hospital. I'm sure a veterinarian office would do a better job at helping you. read more

The ER is nightmare as we were forced to go here by City of Peoria Fire and had to wait to use their ambulance service after we told them horrible care in the past and requested to go to another hospital. When waited longer for the ambulance when we could have drive there in ten minutes.The ICU is a scam. They bring in one specialist after another without telling you why or that they are coming. It's like a circus of revolving consulting physicians who don't even read the patient's chart or communicate with the patient, immediate family or nurses. The so called Hospitalist or the coordinating head physician is a joke. Walks in sits down and pats your hand like you're a child or an idiot. These consulting physicians walk in and say two things, walk out and then no follow through on what they said would happen. Every one bills the insurance. No communication, no plan of treatment. Tell you one thing and nothing happens. Emily S. from Arrowhead asked for personal Email and never heard from her once it was provided. H.I.P.A.A.violations and nurse told by hospitalist to tell us we can't get any records after four days in ICU and being billed thousands of dollars. Red flag as we hadn't even requested or asked about records. What were they trying to hide. My last review just disappeared... read more

poor care, understaffed, if you have a senior with health issues this in not the hospital to go to. Did not seem to think the elderly are worth the effort to save. Attitude was they had a good long life and let them go. Nurse advised against feeding efforts and not to try save him if heart or breathing stopped. T.ook way to long to make room in icu. My dad died there. Some staff cared some did not. Nobody even called after the fact with regrets. Entered with a fall, got pneumonia and passed. A lot more details my advise is beware and if you end up here you better be ready to live here and push them for care. Not a hospital for the elderly if you want them to survive, imo read more

Nurse Britni S. was my nurse in the ED at Abrazo and I cannot thank her enough for helping me as much as she did. She helped me to feel at ease when I was freaking out and was so great about telling me EVERYTHING that was going on or about to happen. Absolutely loved her & the hospital. read more

I had a stomach virus and I went to urgent care, They told me I needed an IV and that I would have to go to an ER. I was only in the waiting room at Abrazo for about 15 minutes before I was taken back and they got my vitals. Then I was led to a bed and the doctor came in shortly after that. He told me that I was going to get an IV and have a urine test and some blood work done. While I was getting my IV, my partner Jim went down to the cafeteria for some food. He absolutely raved about how good the food was and wanted to come again sometime just to have lunch! When my IV was done, the doctor came back and gave me some instructions about how to treat the virus and we left. Everybody I dealt with there was efficient and professional. I would definitely go to Abrazo again, even though another ER is closer to where I live. read more

I was in labor and delivery. By far the worst experience! I would recommend staying far away from here. Staff was very judgmental and rude when I went in to be induced. Their pediatrician on call was terrible, I did have one amazing nurse but that was before I was even close to having my baby. They told me about 30 minutes before that I had to take a class to be discharged and that was the only time I would be able to do it. Not helpful at all on the breastfeeding part of it all, FORGOT to discharge me for 8 HOURS and the only reason we were FINALLY discharged was because we asked to leave a 3rd time and the nurse had the audacity to make me wait to go so she could go on break even tho had been ready to leave and asked her hours before this. And kept commenting how we still had to pack up, which we already were, and I said we were, but she worked that in another 4 times! And I'm still hearing about bills and mistakes that they made 10 months later! WILL IT END? do not go here you'll regret it. The happy days of bringing my baby into the world I look back with so much despise for this place, and I like hospitals.. read more

Unfortunately my appendix ruptured and I had to stay at the hospital April 14 until April 21. Needless to say, nobody likes to stay in hospitals. I can honestly say the only good experiences I've ever had is when I gave birth to four of my children. That's only because I got to leave with beautiful babies in my arms. This hospital stay was quite different. I received exceptional care from my surgeon, from the resident doctor, from the RNs, all the way to the patient care assistance. I'd like to give a special shout out to the charge nurse Al and to the RN Juleen. They treated me like a person and not a patient. After my first night stay, the next morning Al came in my room just to say hello and check on me, and he insisted on taking my daughter to the cafeteria to buy her breakfast, his treat. His care and compassion and professionalism made me feel very comfortable and cared for. I hope to never be in the hospital again, but if I ever needed the care, I would absolutely choose Abrazo Arrowhead Campus. I can not express my gratitude enough for the labor/delivery, post partum and NICU staff at arrowhead. The nurses were beyond phenomenal! First let's start with Vanessa she was with me during my C section kept me calm and talked me through EVERYTHING. Then our son had to go to NICU. Elizabeth, Viva, Lilian, Lynn, Elena and Deb were all beyond amazing!!! They kept us informed and educated us every step of the way I can't thank these nurses enough!!! I was admitted into this hospital with the flu and bronchial infection. I was so impressed by the way the nursing staff continued to go out of their way to make sure I comfortable and taken care of. I know that a hospital has hundreds of patients, however every time a nurse would come into my room I felt as though I was the only patient they had. Even a food server named Matthew came into my room with my meal, asked me for my name and birthdate, presented my meal and opened a sanitary wipe and handed it to me saying this was for my safety. He then left but not before telling me to enjoy my meal. If I fall ill again and need to be hospitalized, I will choose Abrazo Arrowhead. read more

So my mother has been in and out of this hospital for four weeks now. Today has been the worse care day for her ever. Her nurse "Tina" on the 2nd floor has zero concern obviously because her attitude was poor when I called to talk with her about my mother and when I arrived my mother was slumped over her food tray a sleep with blood all over her hand and gown. When I went to the nurses station to talk to "Tina" she was condescending, rude, and lacked any urgency. Worse experience ever! If you care about your loved ones, Arrowhead may not be the place for them and pray "Tina" on the 2nd floor is not their nurse. I wish I could add the pictures I took, but I'll just post them on other social media sites. Maybe then someone will care about my mother. read more

I went to Arrowhead Hospital ER because of the short wait time - schedule it online, however, it was a complete waste of my time and money. After checking me in they left me waiting for a doctor (in pain) for 45 minutes (clearly not busy). Then when I complain, the doctor suddenly appears. Does not order films just gives me pain killers and sends me home saying I have a herniated lumbar disk. I contacted my regular physician they said to go back to the ER. I went to Boswell this time. Got in just as quickly - they determine from CT scans and examination from a specialist, that I did not have a herniated lumbar disk but tendonitis. I was kept overnight given a shot which worked and was able to walk again without much pain. I have a follow up with the specialist a week later. I would not have been in so much pain for so many days if Arrowhead had done a proper job of it. They were a joke! I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO ARROWHEAD ER! read more
