Connor and John the guys that work for him were kind kept everything clean and organized and did an amazing job. Craig came the next day added all the grout and the shower doors. Curt is nothing but rude, condescending and belittling. He called me multiple derogatory names including "stupid woman" and "ludicrous", when I called to inquire about tile due to an unforeseen circumstance in my bathroom remodel. Curt was incredibly rude and ultimately impossible to work with. I would never hire him, nor recommend him to anyone for anything. read more

We hired Curt to tile our remodeled kitchen and bathroom and he was AMAZING!! Extremely understanding despite multiple construction setbacks that were out of our control. His bid was accurate and we came in on budget and within the timeline for completion that he gave us. I cannot overstate how great and rare it is to stay on schedule when working with contractors!! Very good communication throughout the whole project, Curt would always text back promptly and he was an all around friendly guy to work with. I called for a diagnosis of a tile issue and Curt was out same day. He was thorough in his assessment and took the time to discuss the possible causes of our problem as well as the possible fixes and providing information on what we're looking at cost wise to fix it. He was personable and professional even pointing out where the original tile setter had done things right but explaining the design flaw inherent in the builder's plans that was leading to our issue. We hired Curt to replace our shower, and they wrapped up work today. The substantive tile work appears fine (although we're waiting for the grout to dry to do a water test). That said, everything else about this project was sub-par. Curt is brusque, bordering on obnoxious. His crew left our house an absolute mess, with splatter all over doors, floors, and walls. Curt himself spent a good bit of his time smoking cigars in our driveway, and throwing the butts in our garden. (My dog discovered two of them and tried to eat them.) His crew repeatedly threw away construction debris in our recycle bin, and this continued even after I contacted Curt about the problem and he promised to address it. His crew used our bathroom without permission, which is bad, but they also left it a disgusting pit (fecal matter all over the toilet seat). They also did not mask consistently, even though this was a condition of us hiring his crew for the job. One interaction in particular skeeved me out a bit: Curt could not remove the old shower handle, claiming the attachment screw was stripped. I installed that shower handle myself about 5 years earlier, and I definitely did not strip the threads on the screw. Moreover, it had not been removed or adjusted in the intervening time period. My best guess is that he stripped the threads trying to remove the handle, but didn't want to pony up to fix the problem. (I don't know this for sure, but given his utter lack of professionalism it would not surprise me.) He told me he would get an updated bid to me as soon as he sorted out how much it would cost to install the new valve. The final tally: an extra $500! To install a shower valve--something I could do myself in less than an hour. By the time he revealed the price to me a couple days later, the shower was already nearly complete. Long story short: Very unprofessional crew that I'd never hire again. I would urge other folks to stay away, too. If you do hire him, I suggest the following precautions: 1) If you're hiring him for a shower job, remove your shower handles yourself before Curt arrives. 2) Don't agree to any revisions to the original scope of work without an updated estimate in writing; 3) Insist on a provision in the contract requiring them to clean up the site before they leave. read more

I'm selling a house and needed to get a hatch carved into a tile surround on a jetted tub for the plumber (Cornel's). After reading reviews, I called Curt out for an appointment and he showed up 10 minutes early! After looking at the situation and hearing the problem, he let me know the tile situation, he let me know the builders of the addition were wrong in what they did then explained what he could do in our situation along with the risks. He didn't know my skill set and that he was preaching to the choir. I just didn't have the tools or time to cut the hatch myself (I was visiting due to work and it lined up with an offer on the house). He was dead-on, on all counts and there was nothing that he said that was incorrect or misleading. For me, I had to get permission to do the work and try to find tile - something Curt specifically requested before even starting the job. I presented the buyer with 3 options and they chose to fix the leak but leave a hole. The buyer wanted the tile saved as much as possible, with a smaller hole than what the plumber wanted. "Minimal damage". After getting permission to perform work, I gave Curt another call about the work that had been OK'd along with directions (leave the tile, damage or not, try to do no-harm, etc) and sent him a lockbox code to the house. On tile-day, he went in and did the work. I got multiple pictures and a follow-up call about what was going on behind the tile. Not only did he have great customer service and such, but he managed to save all the tile with no breakage! I'm an amateur/DIY tile guy (I've tiled, I've re-grouted, etc) but I'm not sure I could have even done the work with no breakage. One of the cuts was up against the tub and had very little room for error due to less grout. AWESOME work! I was able to pay him easily and had no issues at all. If I were still in the area, I'd have no hesitation to hire him for other work. read more

Carl Abraham has been fantastic! We had a leak in the shower of our 1912 house. The tiling was probably from the 1950s or 60's and it had come loose. He's worked for more than 20 years and had never seen the kind of mess in the lath and plaster that we had, including a wooden board around the tub and a small piece of plywood covering what could be asbestos. He talked about options including really expensive ones. And then came up with what seemed to me like ingenious solutions which are safe and will work. He also has good working relationships with several plumbers, which it turned out we needed, and despite the difficulty of timing (plumbers are really busy these days), managed to get a plumber here in short notice to replace parts. His work is precise and lovely, and his ability to talk to us about the problems and solutions calmly was remarkable. read more

From the start Curt the owner made it clear to us that he may not have had the background and expertise to complete our job to meet professional standards. We went ahead anyway. Our mistake. He was very difficult to work with. He tried to convince us that the tile was too difficult to put up because it was glass. WE PICKED that out and there was no concern from any of the folks we talked with when picking out the tile. He kept hedging on using the expensive grout that we picked out and that it would be too hard to use. MULTIPLE TIMES! He kept complaining and we could hear him complaining whiling he was working. It was getting very old. We were patient and wanted the job completed. His shoddy work in the shower should have made us rethink about having him complete the backsplash. The tile work in the shower had to be repaired multiple times. It was misaligned and had to be redone using more tile than necessary. Tiles were uneven and just poor craftmanship. The project lasted much longer due to your shoddy rework and need to order additional tile. He kept complaining about our contractor and that he need to be paid 100% when the work wasn't event 1/2 done. Kept insisting he needed to be paid even after the embarrassing work. He was very unprofessional and even spoke with one of our neighbors. Talking behind our contractors and our backs regarding the project. The backsplash is a mess!!! Grout lines inconsistent as it looked like he tried to shove the tile under our mirror. Uneven tiles and crooked. We are now requesting to have it all be redone, but not by Curt. It will cost us more money and time because of his shoddy work. I would not recommend Abraham Tile. read more

Abraham Tile just re-tiled my bathtub/shower surround. Curt and his assistant Mike did a great job. Punctual, coordinated well with plumber, left a clean work-site, reasonably priced and, most important, precision tile work, including installation of grab bars and fairly intricate recessed tiled storage and soap units. Very nice people to boot--they even played with my pooch. Highly recommended. read more
