18 months ago, I purchased a variable speed trane 20 seer unit. Warren was the individual that…read moresold and supervised the install. It was a total replacement of all components as well as reworking some of the duct work for efficiency. The purchase included 2 years of labor on the solution. Fast forward 18 month and one of the air control motors failed and needed to be replaced. The technician presented a quote for $600.. I questioned the technician on the cost of the part, really not believing this part was that expensive. I declined to have the work done. Right after he left, I removed the air control motor by unscrewing a single screw and purchased a new one for $54 delivered.. I sent the purchase invoice to the technician with a description of my disappointment in such a charge, for a part that was so inexpensive and so easy to remove and install.. remember I mentioned I recieved 2 years of labor with my purchase and therefore no labor should have been included in the cost. I asked the technician to forward my concern to the owner, Gary. It's been weeks, and I have not heard anything back from either the owner or the technician. Why can't you trust contractors these days, you have to watch them and question everything they say needs to be done.

Not quite a year later the capacitor went out again (our unit is old and needs to be replaced, so it going out again was normal wear and tear). It was two weeks shy of the original replacement so nick replaced it at no charge. Just like our first experience, he was prompt, courteous, and honest! He was transparent about what did and did not need to be replaced so I felt comfortable he was not just trying to sell us everything he could. Would absolutely recommend them to everyone and will be using them when we replace our unit since they also offer 60 months 0% payment plan or 10% cash discount.

Now, 30 days later, I received a text message and email from Master Air stating I owe them $99 for my service. I called the main line to confirm whether this is a legitimate charge or not, spoke with John - he said it was legitimate for their time. I asked, what for, since Ralph said there wasn't a charge & left - John stated, "I don't know a company would stay in business if we didn't charge for this" - I paid the $99 charge, but I think it's horrible business to wait until 30 days after someone comes out to send a bill. Especially after being told there wasn't a charge. Thanks.

I would avoid this company as the owner is not a person of accountability. We paid $22,000 for a…read moreheat pump system which means there was a large margin for the owner. (I had two systems in California installed for $28K as an example, so much less even with the higher labor rates in CA. Master's margins are quite high, at least on heat pumps.) Within one year we had a draining issues that caused $2K worth of damage to our property. The issue was that the drain from the unit to the drain pipe was not coupled properly so the main drain overflowed. While it's not the responsibility of the HVAC installer to do this coupling, it would have been nice to have been informed that we needed to hire a plumber to fix this. We would of done that on a $22K system immediately. We informed the owner and he got defensive and, when we tried to stop him from being defensive (four horsemen and all that), he hung up the phone. Accountability and trust are critical to any business or relationship. My CA installer was so much better. Find a different company if you want an accountable business owner to work with.
