I am giving two stars only because I don't want my review removed. But this business doesn't deserve any stars. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism and consideration for a customer's time. I had an appointment scheduled for Sunday at 10:00 a.m. I work graveyard shifts 6 days a week, 12-15 hours a day, and I also care for an elderly parent. My schedule is very limited, so every appointment has to be planned carefully. I worked the night before and sacrificed much-needed sleep so I could be on time to have a replacement key fob made. By 10:30 a.m., there was still no sign of him, and I had not received a call or message. When I called, the excuses kept changing. First, he said he had "lost our conversation." In the same sentence, he said they had been overbooked. He then mentioned he had his granddaughter's baby shower. The inconsistent explanations made it difficult to believe what I was being told. Instead of apologizing and taking responsibility for wasting my time, he came across as condescending and dismissive. Everyone can make mistakes, but how you handle them matters. Unfortunately, this experience reflected poor customer service, unreliability, and a lack of respect for a customer's time. I cannot recommend this business based on my experience. Update: Thank you for proving my point. Your response is unprofessional, defensive, and unnecessarily personal. You're honestly sassier than my four-year-old granddaughter. I walked in with six keys that I needed multiple copies of. They were able to help me with five of the keys but informed me that the sixth would be in in about a week or recommended another locksmith to use if I was in a hurry. They had an amazing assortment of different keys in their office. I kind of wished I needed more keys just so I could get some of the others that were offered. I'm not someone who usually writes reviews but my experience with Able Smart Key & Lock was extraordinary, so I feel the need to do so. Initially I went there to get a duplicate key fob for my Prius. It was a long-procrastinated errand, memorable because of how pleasant it turned out. The technician was so warm and friendly and helpful. He explained everything and took care of what was needed in no time. And the price was great compared to other shops I'd called around to. Fast forward a couple years. I dashed out to my car and to my great surprise was locked out. The fob wasn't working to get me into the car; neither was my backup fob. And when I pulled out the emergency key it went only a little way into the lock. I called my mechanic: they weren't able to help at all. I called the Toyota dealership. They were even less helpful. I was getting a bit frantic. But I managed to calm myself down and that's when I remembered the guy at Able. I called and that same helpful voice answered. He asked a couple questions and immediately diagnosed the problem. A couple more questions and he provided a step by step solution. His solutions were simple and ended up costing me nothing. 12/17/20 re-key newly purchased home, Elk Grove Derrick arrived promptly and wearing a mask for what seemed like a straightforward re-key and found there were no strike plates for any of the dead bolts, just a hole in the wood. He probably could've just changed the locks and moved on but he didn't.
