Yep, despite being on a dark road with minimal signage I managed to find Able Ebenezer and pop in for a beer. A good crowd but there was plenty of space and the wifi was working well. I captured a small high top table with three seats and no one seemed to mind as I enjoyed my beer and plodded away on the laptop for a bit. I landed just as the trivia night was kicking off and while it was a little loud, it moved fast and was fun. I didn't play but I would like to think that I would have done okay. My one beer this evening was the Tabula Rasa, an apricot amber ale. Caramel and fruit notes, it was not too sweet and quite delicious. Mildly strong at 7.5% which was unexpected. While trying to find this place, it was a bit hard since the sign didn't have lights on it and the parking lot was super dark. We went inside and it was full, which is a good sign! I had a pint of the coffee porter, which as very light for a porter and sour. I wasn't a fan. I then had a flight, where i discovers their beer, overall, was okay. Kind of missing something- like too watery. Their IPA was good and the smoked IPA was amazing!!! I was happy to find one beer that hit the spot. I thought about taking a beer to go so I could fly it home to my fiancé, but they only had cans available, which I don't trust with the air pressure change. The pricing was good, but the smell is different- I've been to a lot of breweries but this ones was funky. Overall, glad I tried it but wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

One evening I was "Able" to make my way over to Able Ebenezer Brewing Co. for a beer tasting... The place was very busy for a weeknight (as I recall it was a Thursday night). I sauntered up to the bar and grabbed a stool. I went for a flight of everything they had avail"able" that night: Auburn Red Ale (4.5% ABV) Broad Arrow IPA (6.5% ABV) Burn The Ships Smoked IPA (7.0% ABV) Victory Nor Defeat DIPA (8.0% ABV) Tabula Rasa Fruit Beer (7.5% ABV) Kilgore Coffee Porter (6.0% ABV) Of the six brews I tasted, five were ones I'd entertain having a full pint - except for the Tabula Rasa Fruit Beer - it was simply to light and bland for my palate. I very much enjoyed the Burn the Ships Smoked IPA and the Victory Nor Defeat DIPA. I asked the bartender about the name of the brewery, and he recounted an interesting historical tale of Ebenezer Mudgett, an inn-keeper and logger among other things. Love Able Ebenezer! My boyfriend is obsessed with their Burn the Ships beer, its his fave! If you're a history buff you will enjoy the American history behind the beers names, since its founded by Veterans. I get their lighter beers like their apricot and Emma Wood. Heard pumpkin is coming out soon too!! Always great service here and fun place to hang. When its nice out they open the large door and there's seating outside and corn hole to play. They allow dogs too, indoors or out! Def order the pretzel, its warm and crispy on the outside and has herbs on the bottom, perfect with a beer! Great for larger groups too. This was a stop on a beer tour once so we all sat in their separate living room kind of area on couches and it was perfect for us. Able Ebenezer is a decent brewery in Merrimack along Daniel Webster Highway close to Horseshoe pond. Looked like they tend to have five beers on tap. A flight of beer costs only $10 and includes everything on tap so of course I had to check that out! Here's what I had. -Burn the Ships Smoked IPA: Thought I would like this one since I actually enjoyed every smoked beer I've had to date. No dice...The smoke was off-putting in this one. I didn't even bother finishing it... -Victory nor Defeat: Yeah, this one is a winner. It's evident that they put in quite a bit of work to create this beer. Great balance of malt and hops. Their description says "Victory Nor Defeat is not intended to represent what an IPA currently is; it represents what an IPA should be" and I pretty much agree with that. Without a doubt, this is the only beer at Able Ebenezer that I would purchase a growler of. -Broad Arrow IPA: Mouthfeel was alright but something about how it tasted wasn't... -Tabla Rasa Apricot Amber Ale: Same comment as Broad Arrow IPA. -Auburn Red Ale: I tend to dislike red ales and this was no exception. Not their fault if I find this style of beer to be unappealing. Did not consider this beer in my rating as that wouldn't be fair. The atmosphere was modern and clean. Several tables, plenty of counter space, and a few couches. Looks like this is where the locals come to socialize as the place was pretty busy shortly after opening. Not a whole lot of outlets, though. I was trying to get some work done and that outlets would've been nice...Maybe they are by the couches... The history nerd in me was amused by their website. Able Ebenezer posts some really thoughtful stories behind the beers and I love the ties to history as well as how they documented the creation of some of their beers. Clearly someone here is adept at writing. Growlers are available for purchase. I appreciate that they use swing-top growlers. However, I heard that the state of New Hampshire has some sort of law in place where breweries can only fill their own growlers and not growlers from other breweries. That's a shame. Service was pretty cool. One employee was rather helpful and offered to make some beer suggestions for me. Able Ebenezer is a nice little spot. Too bad I enjoyed everything but the beer...If they start producing beer that is on par with Victory nor Defeat, then maybe I'll be back. read more

My Husband and I have been regular customers at Able for well over a year now, and we just love the atmosphere. It truly is the 'Cheers' of Merrimack! Our favorite times are when Heather is working the bar. We watch her work her tail off, and that's commendable. I barely see her even get a rest. She delivers an experience- while serving painstakingly crafted local beer, and most definitely always with a smile with your beer- and the smiles are free She's really great to chat with, when it's a bit quieter in the bar, especially when you get to know a bit of her story (after all, that's what Able is all about- stories), you get to know a hard working woman who is fun-loving and really sweet. My wife and I came here to grab a flight and try out the beer. We both really liked the atmosphere, with options to sit at the bar, high tops, or a lounge area. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was very helpful with recommending the most popular beers. Though the beers weren't mind blowing, they were all solid. I normally don't like IPAs, but really liked the ones here, especially the Broad Arrow. I wish there had been more options to buy in cans, but given that it seems to be a small operation, I understand. Everything was very reasonably priced. We would definitely come back. read more

We stopped in here as we were in the area for something else, and wanted to check this place out as well! It's a small spot, with a nice interior, though left some things to be desired. They seemed to be running out of some of their beers, and only had four on tap while we were there. They had a note that you could do flights of 5 for $10, or $2/glass (which isn't actually a deal at all), though we only paid $8 for the 4 they had left. Of those, two were IPAs, a red ale, and a coffee porter, though none of them were very enjoyable for our group. Staff not overly friendly - they took our order and didn't speak a single other word to our group of three. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. read more

But, each time we went up to the not-crowded bar, the bartender walked right by me, without so much as a "Hello" or "be right with you", to go yap with their friends. While on vacation this summer me and some friends stopped at this brewery. My friends are all very much into beer, and while I'm not necessarily, I still had a great time being here! The vibe is awesome - it's very "chill" and personal. The bartender, who's also the brew master, described the story of the place and chatted with us the whole time we were there. It's the type of place I would love to go to if I had it near where I live, to go relax with friends, try some beer, talk and maybe play a game while sitting at the comfy couch area they have. The story behind the name of the place is pretty cool - you should ask them about it when you're in there. The Auburn beer was my favorite. Awesome taproom and pretty good beer as well. I did a sampler and got to try everything they had that day, which included a red, IPA, smoked IPA, Double IPA, and Coffee Porter. The first three were fine, nothing offensive yet surprisingly mild, even the IPAs. The double IPA was great and one of the best beers I tried on a day in which I went to three different breweries. I'm also a big fan of the coffee porter, which is nice and roasty without being too sweet. The taproom is located in an industrial park warehouse, but they've filled it with a nice long bar, some tables and a big couch, and lined the walls with bookshelves featuring a variety of books about history and beer. Saw a Facebook post of this place and decided to check it out. The setting I odd. Columbia Circle has a bunch of office / garage combination, prime for Merry Maids and the like. Turns out it work well for a brewery and pub. The pub is tastefully done with leather sofa, nice bar, etc. ... The bartender was one of the 4 brewers and ready to talk shop with the home brewers and The beer was good. Four flavors on tap - no fruity crap, but. Session, Wheat, IPA and an interesting smoked ale. I took home a growlers of the session. Can't wait to refill it. read more

Very fun place to grab a couple of beers and hang out. There is outdoor seating and a nice little bar inside and plenty of seating for a small-ish brewery/pub. I like their IPA: Broad Arrow a bit better than Burn the Ships. I don't think that BTS tastes as smoky as I expected. It's in a little warehouse type area near a Cross fit so it is a bit out of the way and hard to find but you should be able to manage with GPS. However, I was pretty underwhelmed by the other three. I do appreciate that you are able to order a full pint or a flight. They do not serve any complimentary popcorn or other snacks. Awesome beer, Burn the Ships is my favorite. Owners are chill and friendly and really passionate about their brews. Great guys to talk to. There is one girl that works at the bar and she is nothing but attitude. No acknowledgement of us sitting at the bar until we flagged her down on multiple occasions, even when it's slow. When we finally were served, she acted as though we were a hassle. Now we know if she's working, we'll skip sitting down for a few pints and just get in and out with a growler fill. Love the name and the interesting bit of colonial history (previously unbeknownst to me) that underpins the brewery's name. My husband and I stopped by on a trip to Nashua. We shared a fight of all five brews on tap, then had a pint of the smoked IPA, which was interesting, unusual and very tasty, and the Victory nor Defeat DIPA, which was delicious and avoided the overly-sweet issue that plagues many double IPAs.
