Our review of ACS is mixed. We contracted with them to tear out and built a deck. I will use a rating scale to describe our experience - 1 to 10 where 10 being Excellent and 1 being Poor. * Satisfied with quality of finished deck = 9. (There were some bad miter cuts and one deck board that is set higher than the rest - ACS would not take responsibility for these problems) * Communication = 0 (This company does NOT know how to communicate - as mentioned in other reviews. Very Poor communication skills. (Jenny at the office even admitted this to us). We left messages about making a change to our plan - no one ever called back. The installer leaves for the day and we have no idea if/when he is coming back. Two days go by and the installer was a no show - no communication to the customer by anyone at ACS. Jenny who runs their home office is rude, defensive when you try to bring issues to their attention, is volatile and yells at you for no reason. She has no concept of customer service skills. When the job was finished, their focus was to get paid IMMEDIATELY without addressing our concerns about obvious decking flaws. We were worried they wouldn't keep their commitment to remove to old deck debris. Ryan (the owner ?) was sent out to "Shake us Down". During our meeting I was shocked that ACS does not take ANY responsibility for the quality of their work or any damage to our property. We have never experienced this before. We do NOT even know if their is any sort of warranty on materials or labor - we were never provided any information about a warranty. Ryan tried to explain everything away - I ended up throwing him off our property. * Regard for the Customer's Property = 2. (They staged the lumber on our green lawn instead of putting it on the driveway. Part of our lawn was destroyed as a result. No regard for the customer's property - no responsibility was taken by ACS. - not even an apology. ) At this point we are very frustrated as a customer, having lost trust in this company. Our concern was making sure that they picked up all the old deck debris before we paid them, as we no longer trusted them. After going back and forth, they picked up 3/4 of the debris and demanded payment before they picked up the rest. Really? If you call them for an estimate, 2 kindly gentleman will come out and give you a good song and dance show. Like I said we are happy with the deck, just very disappointed about the poor communication throughout the entire process and damage to our property. We have used many contractors over the years, and have never had any problems until we contracted with ACS. Be prepared for headaches if you use them. read more

This concrete company is why I now have a lien against my property. Yep, litigation from the concrete supplier (materialmen's lien) they used and didn't pay. Able Construction Services (ACS) failed to pay their subcontractor supplying the concrete to my address. That subcontractor is now suing me in a joint lawsuit. I paid ACS for what they did for me in full. Concrete included! So, ACS doesn't answer the phone (voice mailbox is full) to fix issues. This is now their way. That is just one of many problems I experienced as a customer. I expect that they will be available to hire again soon...so, BEWARE and FORWARNED. ACS is a difficult contractor to resolve problems with. Construction dragged on and most always is addressed to their convenience. Concrete messes were left for the customer so very often. Further, if they mess with any that work with or for them legally it can come back to you to pay for their service or materials! That is what happened to me! Even if you already paid via ACS. This occurred with me so, I have to pay twice and, for any related fees and charges (thousands of dollars) a second time. ACS does know concrete fence and deck work but expect many issues and to be taken advantage of...they know just how to do that as well! read more

I paid this company over $20,000 build a retaining wall, they skipped out on the bill to pay the concrete company and now I have a lien again my property. Company won't respond to phone calls, or emails. Ryan Nelson should not be trusted; and this company should be avoided at all costs. read more

Able Construction Review After looking for over a year for someone to fix our tired deck, I checked Home Advisor. I called ACS and a nice gentleman came out. He was sure this construction company could replace our deck. Indeed, they could. I signed the contract. The owner came out. I was still good with the company. A designer was contracted. The drawings for my front deck were never presented to me for approval. After several kick - backs from the city, the drawings were finally approved and the permit was issue. I still did not know that the plans were not what I wanted. It was now winter and the holidays, so I asked for a start date after the holidays. We agreed on mid - February. I was told that it would be a two week project, maybe three, if they ran into problems. There were no problems that caused delays. I was told the crew would be out in the morning and they would knock the job out in a couple of weeks. Well, maybe, if they had worked every day! The owner came the next morning with three others. He introduced the crew and the lead on my job. The first week was encouraging. Then I did not see anyone for more than a week. Then Two came back. The lead was injured and out for a week. He came back and the other main crew man was sick for a week. Basically, there were only two that did anything. Then COVID! We were left without entrance to our front door. Nor a railing on the deck, which is our fire escape from two bedrooms. (I was told a safety variance should have been applied for since we are in our 70's). The owner said since materials were already on site, our project should continue as soon as possible. Well, it was over a week after construction reopened, before I saw anyone. Then once in awhile, I would get the lead only. Which was fine since he is the only person who communicated with me about what I wanted. And he is very meticulous! There were changes I insisted on along the way. Like removing 4 posts than were not needed! I said multiple times I did not like the grade of the stairs. Digging into my yard to allow for the steepness of a stair well, should never have happened. There was nothing that can be done to fix the yard, the way it was left. At our age the stairs would not work. The owner did not approve the my proposed change. There was a lot of redo and the two not agreeing with each other nor me on how things should be done. This resulted in wasted time and material. A 2 to 3 week job totaled 6 months! COVID only accounts for one month of that time. And the stairs still need to be redone. The hardware and the cement circle cardboard covered supports for the beams are exposed. The job does not look finished! Since they start work at 8 AM, I was up dressed and presentable every morning for 5 and a half months expecting someone to show up! There was never a call to say no one will be working your job tomorrow. Sometimes, work would get started, then they would get called to another job! There were weeks when I would see no one. First inspection did not pass! Corrections were made and the second inspection did pass. Now that I am finished with ACS, my stairs are redone at an additional cost to me. Finishing boards installed to cover the hardware. Something will be designed to hide the round cement supports. So, if you are in no hurry, can get Scott as your lead, have a big wallet for extra expenses, you will have a quality job! read more

Disaster from start until the point they had to be terminated! Misrepresented the materials and construction. Late by at least 2 hours on each appointment. Very poor communication, almost non-existent unless I initiated it. Was told a month to start for a one day job. Took almost 2 months to start but only after I called several times. The one day job turned into SEVERAL days because of contractor mistakes and deliberate poor workmanship. Built deck in the WRONG place then had to move it then took short cuts to make up for the lost time - HIS problem not mine. Did damage to my house when they moved it. Piers not installed correctly, did not use the flashing or concrete delivered to the job site. Owner was belligerent and threatening to me. Deliberately installed damaged finished decking trying to convince me the supplier required it! What? Ridiculous. I contacted the supplier and am working out the replacement as I write this. Buyer beware. This guy will take your money, lie, make excuses, build an unacceptable and unsafe structure, then try to intimidate and threaten you if you don't just let him do what he wants.
