I called immediately (which means once I was in position to do so safely and legally...). The gal that answered the phone was so helpful and scheduled me right then. She even explained why the visit needed to take place when it was not raining since these wretched beasts (my words) were not out and about in such weather. Thank you! Here are just a few of the reasons I say that: * He was respectful of me and my home. * He didn't freak out over our very large puppy, nor did he do anything to make that encounter worse by trying to engage with her. YAY! * Next, he walked the entire property, again listening to my concerns. * After that, he explained everything he was suggesting he do, clearly and specifically. He also made sure I knew the chemicals they use would not hurt my pets or koi, nor would they kill mason or honey or bumble bees. Dec 16, 2020, Hired Mike Howard to repair structural damaged to my home caused by extensive dry rot…read moredamage. This was not a trivial job. The dry rot had compromised a main structural corner beam which supported the second story. The repair would first require building a temporary support to hold up the second story while removing the damaged support beam and replacing all of the dry rot wood. The repair process required first coordinating with a structural engineer to design a repair plan and then with the Snohomish County office to issue a repair permit. Mike was very helpful through the entire process. Mike was confident that he could perform the repair safely and within code without an engineering drawing, but suggested that the drawing would likely be required for the county to issue the permit. I decided to get the engineering drawing and Mike was right. The county flat out said that this repair required an engineering review and drawing. I told Mike I would hire him for the job, but only after I saw and understood what the repair plan entailed. Mike met with the engineer to discuss the repair job and then Mike outlined for me exactly how he would complete the repair. While listening to Mike explain the repair process it was apparent to me that he completely understood the structural design of a home. Having a contractor with this type of experience and knowledge was the only way I would go. Mike was a pleasure to work with. He answered all of my questions with integrity and no BS. I decided to take the 2 days off to watch the work performed. Mike had no issues with this. He discussed the work while it was in process and I always felt comfortable with his decisions and confidence. The work was done in accordance to the engineering drawing and the permit was signed off and closed without any issues. I had a WONDERFUL experience with Oleksandr and his team at Kovch Construction!…read more There were over a dozen huge holes in my walls after doing a full plumbing repipe in my new house, so everything needed drywall patches, mud, paint, and texture. There were also holes through the backs of the cabinets under every sink. I collected a LOT of estimates. Most people wanted over twice what Oleksandr quoted - and didn't have the glowing positive reviews he has, especially noting the quality and cleanliness of his work. Spoiler warning: the other reviews were right! Oleksandr and his team were so polite and professional (including punctual and communicative!). Whenever I asked a question or pointed out something important to me (like carefully covering the brand-new mini-split to protect it from drywall dust, or making sure my gecko's heater was safe near the plastic sheeting), they listened carefully and made sure I was satisfied with the answer. That's a big deal for someone with schema about "not bothering people". There were a LOT of little touches that proved they cared and respected my property. I felt comfortable and secure leaving my house for three days while they worked. The other companies I asked told me they "couldn't repair" the sink cabinet holes, despite the fact that I kept the removed pieces which had pretty clean edges. One guy insisted he would only repair them with plywood, but most said I would just have to live with the holes. Oleksandr set my expectations that he could reinstall the pieces, but they might not look perfect. That was fine by me! And yet, they actually ended up FAR better than expected. They fixed the drywall, replaced the cabinet pieces, and sealed the edges - sure you can see the cabinet repairs if you look for them, but in ambient lighting, the under-sink patches are pretty well unnoticeable. The quality of the finished wall work totally blew me away. You would never have known there were holes everywhere. I absolutely marveled when they were done - walking around my house with my mouth agape, like I'd never been in a house before. I'm not exaggerating - I'm so, so pleased. They even smoothed out the ugly screw pops in my stairway! These pros left my place EXTREMELY clean considering how horribly messy drywall dust is. What little I found after they left couldn't even count as being "dusty" (and not a SPECK was on the mini-split). And they remembered to put the carpet protectors back on my sofa feet when they moved it back into place, and very kindly checked the exact placement of my home theater speakers (of utmost concern to me). This kind of project is super stressful for anyone, and especially for a first-time homeowner. It's rare and difficult to find businesses you can trust in this world. I'm so grateful to Oleksandr and his team for making this process so easy on me, and with fantastic results - it couldn't have gone any better even if I'd paid twice as much. I'll definitely call Kovch Construction next time I need anything they do, and I'll gladly recommend them to everyone who mentions a similar project to me!

They arrived every day at 9am sharp, as they said they would and completed in 3 days (also as promised), and it looks perfect! Looks like they installed it over brand new framing. Like many other Handy-person companies have begun doing in the last five years or so, they impose a minimum time limit to ensure a minimum service fee. I required several basic repairs around my residence, which necessitated the use of a ladder, screws, and a screw anchor. One repair was time-sensitive, and the company initially offered immediate repairs but suggested returning a few weeks later due to them being booked up. This approach was reasonable and appreciated. However, after further communication with the company, I discovered for the time sensitive repair, they required a $250 deposit prior to any work starting, and would charge their minimum two-hour fee of $300. The job involved simply reattaching one side of an outdoor sun shade, resulting in an estimated total of $820.85 for all of the repairs. As a homeowner I've had several estimates and repairs completed by Handy-person services over the last few decades, but this one has to be the most unreasonable. In contrast, I contacted another Handy-person service company today that arrived at my residence within 30 minutes of my initial contact.They provided an on-site estimate and completed all the necessary repairs in a single hour. The total cost was $110.50, which included tax. This experience met my expectations. The service was reasonably priced, and the handyman was professional and skilled. I now have established a go-to handyman who I can build a lengthy business relationship, year after year. It is unacceptable to ask customers to pay for labor before the work is completed. Materials may be charged, but labor should not be. So glad I found this new Handyman service company. I will definitely be leaving a positive review for them.
