"Yay, I have a huge crack!" Said no one ever. So, lately, my car has been beat up by nature (a rock with the power of Thor's hammer) or jerks that hit the side of my car, because they are driving erratically. The whole nature thing, though, I took kinda personally. I have sucky insurance and I have to offer my firstborn child for my insurance to want to fix anything, so I was on my own looking for an auto glass repair or replacement. The place my insurance suggested, the guy wanted to basically what amounted was my kidneys on the black market. No, thank you. I was on my own and thanks to Yelp, I found this place. Some things to note, I don't understand other reviews that talk about the fact that this place is located in a scary location. I've worked in the East End, in actual sketchy places. The shop looks industrial, that's about it. Plus, I live fairly close in a nice area, which most people would say isn't sketchy. Does it look fancy? No, but sketchy? Nah. They have a little room for you to wait in and offer drinks. There's a book shelf with random books of interest, magazines, and a tv. I brought a book personally, because I like to entertain myself and read, as I don't have a lot of time to do that on my own during the work year. They offered a ride, but I chose to stay. It made more sense for me, especially as I knew I didn't have a way to get back and I just felt weird about asking for a ride back. That's more on me than anything else. Another interesting thing to note, the art in the waiting room is for sale, in case you like it. It was neat to see that there, as that was a trend I mostly saw at coffee shops. Anyways... Chris and Deborah are both extremely nice, darling people. I had met up with them two weeks prior, to see if my windshield could be fixed, but they told me the crack was too long. I had to try. I couldn't fix it then, and finally I was able to fix it. At that first meeting, I was able to just talk with them casually, and I was instantly won over by their authenticity and down to earth personalities. They're freaking cute. It's really refreshing to see the fabled, "mom and pop," shop. I didn't think they existed, quite frankly, something more of legend. She talked about the quote and other little tidbits. I find it hard to believe someone won't like them. So, on to my repair today. Chris would occasionally ask if I wanted to see certain parts of the repair process and I liked being involved from an observer point of view. It's easy to think most mechanics/body shop guys just make up stuff, as they have you wait and never show you anything. He would tell me a few neat things and show me what to expect with regards to my car windshield repair. Apparently my car has this annoying plastic feature that warps over time and he was cool enough to warn me about that. It was there mostly for aesthetics than actually serving any useful purpose. The whole process took maybe 2-3 hours, but it looked great in the end. They even offered to take one of those cute pictures, but I declined. I would have, but it's like 102 and my hair is curly and was frizzed out. That isn't the best impression this business needs, a girl with crazy-looking hair smiling. Would you trust a girl with crazy frizzy looking hair? Heck no, they deserve a picture with a girl with semi frizzy hair. They're nice people, the customer service is amazing, and they do a good job. They even transfer the stickers. I'm going to test out the EZ tag today. I won't blame them if it no longer works as EZ tag swears upon, (what Harris County and Fort Bend?) that the removal of the sticker will cause it to not work anymore. I'll leave a hint on their page to let you know the results of that. As for the important stuff, I say if you look cute and not like something that would be placed on a meme for bad fashion, go take the picture. I would have, but again, the curly-hair struggle is real. While I don't want to come back to them, (because really who is happy about shopping for auto glass?), I would definitely return in case nature and rocks decide to terrorize my car again. read more

The dealership by my house said they couldn't repair it, so I brought it to Chris again. I came across this company on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Someone had broken into my car and my passenger side window on my Mustang was completely gone. It was also a convenient location as they are maybe 7 minutes from my home via car. Chris was very nice and actively communicated with me the entire time of the process. They are actually reasonably priced compared to several other places. I dropped my car off last Thursday around 3 pm and it was ready before 5 pm! Ms. Deborah is extremely nice and offered to take me home so that I did not have to wait. They do have a waiting area that has a tv and Netflix for accommodation. I would definitely recommend this place seriously!!! Some of the nicest people you'll ever come across. I've attached the before and after pic. Chris did a great job. Chris and Deb were great. My car was broken into around 5pm on a Monday night. I called and he did not have the glass in stock, but was able to order it for the next day. Chris let me park my car at his shop overnight so I didn't have to worry about parking my car in my apartment parking garage with a window completely missing. He even offered to give us a ride to the nearest train stop, but we ended up taking an Uber. He replaced the glass next day, providing text updates (including pictures) along the way. I found this place on yelp when I searched "windshield rock chip repair", it had 5 stars so I thought I need to come here! I called them and left a message for a quote and appointment, Chris texted me back giving me all the info on rock chip repair including the price depending on how large the chip is. He mentioned he couldn't do it until my windshield was completely dry cause he only had 1 shot to do it right. If your windshield isn't completely dry it'll leave a milky spot. Who knew?! Houston was forecasting rain for the next 2 weeks so I told him I'll be in touch. 2-3 days later we had a dry, partly sunny day and I decided I wanted to get this done ASAP so it doesn't spread. I texted Chris back and he was super responsive - telling me he can do it in 2 hours at 2pm or 3pm and it'll take about an hour. Cool beans! I showed up, definitely nothing fancy but who needs fancy at an auto repair shop? I pull my car in, he explains what he's gonna do and I hang out and chat and then wait in the small waiting area for a bit (couch, tv - water, coffee or tea offered). Both Chris and Deborah were so friendly and chatty! :) They offered me cookies and chocolates and they told me insurance may cover the costs of a chip repair. My car got broken into a few days ago so I called around Houston trying to find the cheapest place to get my shattered window fixed. This place was considerably cheaper than all of the rest, and they were available to fix it days earlier than any of the other places I called. When we went, we were greeted by Deborah and Chris who were both very nice and accommodating. Chris worked on the car and explained every step to me so I knew what he was doing. He got the job done fast and well. He even vacuumed up all of the glass! Deborah showed us to a cute little waiting room with Netflix, WiFi, coffee, and a couch. In March 2020, I got a crack on my windshield. I got it from debris from a trailer truck at a freeway. The crack grew by 2-3 inches the following morning (almost the length of a bill) I had to get it fixed right away. Able Auto Glass was open early so I went in person to get a quote. The owner was able to do the repair the same day, so we scheduled a time and I came back a few hours later. The work was very quick and has held up a year later. The shop owners were really kind and polite. They also guaranteed their work so if the crack got worse, they will help at no extra charge. Plus: owner showed me his wifi cameras inside his shop. You know what they say. Never follow a large vehicle or truck too closely because you WILL get a rock chip on your windshield. I had to learn it the hard way wamp wamp :( So the first thing I did was go on yelp to look for a good repair shop. I stumbled across Able Auto Glass. I'm not going to lie, I was a bit doubtful because there weren't that many reviews. Lets just say, I will never doubt a business again based on the small amount of reviews. Small businesses need to take a long hard look at Able Auto Glass because they are a shining example of what customer service should look like in any industry. I called and spoke immediately with to a representative, and she quoted me prices for replacement windows, providing details regarding the reasoning of the prices. Miraculously, the prices quoted to me on the phone were the same when I arrived with my car! That's when I knew I'd come to the right place. I briefly discussed the time table, details of the incident, total cost after taxes, and current state of the car so any scratches on the paint wouldn't be disputed by either party when the work was complete(something my technician was honest enough to initiate). The work was done in the 48 hour time table agreed upon, and the quality of the work was superb. Months later I have had no issue with my window despite driving through the 3-world country-esque roads of Montrose.
