By the end of these programs, students, including myself, cannot remember a single piece of valuable information. Elite Prep, on the other hand, thoroughly goes over each and every page of its books and assigns an appropriate number of vocab words, making sure that every single student understands concepts and solutions to complicated problems. I found that Elite Prep also tends to be fairly strict in preserving an atmosphere of comfortable and kind learning: an atmosphere where students speak up to learn from mistakes rather than staying quiet for the fear of embarrassment (an environment found in many other SAT prep academies). Initially, Jen's class helped me to familiarize myself and solve the different types of reading, grammar, and math questions, giving me the initial bump to the 1450 range on a practice test. Then, she taught me to be more vigilant regarding the more deceptive questions, ultimately allowing me to get consistent scores in the mid to high 1500s on the College Board practice SATs. This is not just the sit down and stare at practice tests all day tutoring spot. They teach why the answer is the answer and why other answers are not the correct one. They really do help the ins and outs of the test, showing you SAT tricks and tips as well. The people there motivate you to work harder and do your best. I never liked studying as a kid and to be honest, who does as a kid, but going to tutor was a fun time. There is laughter and fun there, but don't get me wrong, studies do come first. It is not a place I would dread to go to. Its a place where I met new people that I now consider family. She also helped me in my normal high school classes, where I struggled in some math and science. Shes a huge help and got me through some tough times. I am now a college junior pursuing a bachelors degree in Information Technology and planning on getting a masters degree in Computer Forensics. And when we tried to address my student's changing/different needs, Selina quickly facilitated with finding a tutor without hassle. With Covid, the teaching platform is online which works quite well. In fact it has added the flexibility for us to make rush requests. With SEM Education, I feel confident that my student is well supported, whether it is for regularly schedule lessons or an urgent rush project. When you pay $100 plus for a tutor this is not what you should get!!! I understand if she is tired but then we should be given the option to not continue. The owner is equally unhelpful. This is a toxic environment where the owner is yelling and it is in no way conducive to learning. The building is also very run down and should be shut down. DO not believe the pictures you see online. Your child will be in a small cramped up room with no ventilation and no proper desk or chair. Everything is a scam and is a lie. There are many other centers out there to choose from and are run very differently and are up to par.
