When my husband and I wanted to upgrade my engagement ring after 13 years, we wanted to do business with a local, skilled jeweler who had some settings we could look at, purchase, or take inspiration from for a custom ring. After visiting a few stores, I walked into Abe's. After patiently allowing me to see the pieces he has in his display, I found the ring I wanted. It was perfect, and I brought my husband in that day to look at it and purchase it. It needed to be sized and have a new setting put in (the original setting was for a round center diamond, but mine is an Asscher). Abe kept communication going every step of the way. To buy something new from here I think would be fine, but don't take a ring you already own to be resized. We took my husband's wedding ring here to be resized. The ring was his father's, who passed away several years before I ever met my husband. Whatever they did to the ring ruined it beyond repair. Buyer be aware! My wife lost a small 5 point diamond from her ring. Abe wanted one hundred and seventy five dollars to replace it! He said, oh well we have to set it and the stone would cost $50 to $75 and then he would clean it. I said no way. I went to Duffs in Keller and they replaced the small 5 point, set it and cleaned it for $54! Come on Abe you remind me of a car repair shop that mark's up the cost of parts then adds on BULLSH$T other charges. read more

I went to Abe's jewlers today to pick up my wedding ring that I left to be sized smaller. I was never quoted a price when I left my ring. I had to finally call because they never called me about my ring or return my messages. When I went to pick it up, 3 weeks later... $180!! I looked online and found that a ring size down should not cost more than $50. I was upset and told the woman that I thought that was ridiculous, she shrugged and said that was the price. I think Abe's is the best. He helped me design a journey drop for my wife to add a tanzanite stone. He did a very professional job at a reasonable price. I have had watch batteries replaced for my Movado watches. He does it while I wait, even though he had to remove a special band on the watch to replace the battery. He cleans my jewelry at no charge. He sized 3 watch bands for me recently while I waited. I always ask for an estimate up front. In some cases the out the door price is less than quote. His shop is bright and sparkles with all his jewelry and watch selections. He takes pictures to prevent fraud and to protect himself. I admire him and his skill, knowledge, honesty, and professionalism. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. read more

Went in there a while back to get a watch battery changed out. I had the new battery with me to swap out. They said they would have to replace the screws and do other things to it. They still wanted a large amount just to do that and I felt like it turned into an argument when I asked why I would be charged that large an amount, seemed like there were bogus reasons given as to why there would be a charge and I finally just said forget it. I shouldn't have to deal with aggravation like that. They were overall difficult to deal with and not at all customer service oriented. Ended up going somewhere else and the other place didn't charge me anything at all AND were able to open it up just fine. So glad I went somewhere else. read more

I went into Abe's today for a watch battery. I was told it would be $30.00 instead of $10.00 because it is a Tag Heuer. I said okay and he changed the battery. Before he gave it to me, he took a picture of it. When I asked why, he said he'd have a record in case I dropped the watch in the parking lot and said the crystal was broken. Not sure how I feel about this place. Dropped off my Seiko for new crystal & Michael Kor's watch for a pin on bracelet. Took 3 wks. to get back, they never called me. The Seiko watch fogs up now- had it 7 yrs, went swimming it, showered, put in jewelry cleaner-never fogged up. They told me I should never do that, not water proof-may have ruined watch-needs new seal now $10.00 & possible repairs inside possibly. . Told would be ready 3 days-I had to call them 7 days later & was told they need a couple of hours before ready. They did repair the Michael Kor's watch well & put a new bracket for my diamond necklace well. So, that's why I am torn. The seal was damaged I feel when they put the crystal on, but the watch is 7 yrs. old, so I will pay that, probably needed it-seems like since they had it 3 wks. they'd told me-let's change the seal while we have it. here. read more

I brought in a ring that I wanted appraised because I bought it from an individual with a return option. Abe appraised it to be a lower quality than what was told to me by the seller. I returned the ring to the individual seller, who called Abe to ask questions about the appraisal. I then brought in to Abes another ring I was considering buying from another individual and he refused to do an appraisal for me at all. He said I caused "red flags" ????? I never did anything except buying one appraisal from him and then requesting another appraisal weeks later. I feel discriminated against and will NEVER buy anything from them or step into the store again! They also charge tax on appraisals, which is a service. I am not sure if that is legal? I was also looking at mountings, because I was going to reset my diamond, but they were all VERY expensive! read more

My experience at Abe's was pretty much the same as the majority of his other customers according to these reviews. He was rude and acted like my presence there was annoying him. I needed a couple of links taken off a new watch and asked his opinion, which he refused to give. He told me if I changed my mind and decided I would like additional link (s) removed I only had to the close of that business day. He charged entirely too much given that it took him less than 5 minutes. Most jewelers offer this service free, hoping to gain a new customer. I did not expect it to be free, and have no problem paying a reasonable amount. I asked to look at some rings and he acted as if I was wasting his time. With an attitude like his, I'm surprised he stays in business. Not to mention it was in the middle of summer and the inside of the store had to be close to 80/90 degrees. Keller is a small community and the businesses up and down Main have a way of treating you like family. Abe should take a few lessons from them!! read more
