Purchased a lock from them and it was waiting in my unit as promised. Signed up for auto pay and that was smooth. Only thing that threw me was the huge increase in monthly fee after first 3 months. They did send a post card 30 days prior but still a shock but it just motivated me to tend to my storage quicker and move out All in all, 5 stars because it was just so easy and convenient and Mary the site manager is the kindest person to talk to and deal with!

I saw an advertised price for a unit at $50 and spent over an hour on the phone with a representative to confirm it. I even PAID for the unit over the phone and cleared out my old storage space to move in. When I arrived, they refused to honor the $50 price I already paid and tried to force me into a $300 rate instead. When I asked them to give me the unit I had a reservation for, they completely ignored me and tried to send me to a different location miles away. The staff on-site was incredibly rude and unprofessional. When I asked to speak to a district manager to resolve the lie, they refused to help. To make matters worse, it took 3 days just to get my refund back. They lure you in with fake prices, take your money, and then leave you stranded with your belongings and no unit. Save yourself the stress and go to a company with actual integrity."

Just pay their competitors or deal with Home Depot even (no mileage surcharge with Home Depot!). Absolutely disgusting behavior on behalf of the "manager", Tony and his employee (she was of equally no help). Worst customer service I have ever had from any private entity; they were rude, unrelentingly condescending, and lacked the ability to diffuse the situation and come up with any worthwhile compromise. We made a reservation on 6/15 for a truck. They called at 7:48 AM on 7/1, the morning before the move, to inconveniently tell us that our Grayslake pick-up was changed to Zion and that getting there and bringing it back was now our problem. They tried using a "read the fine print" advisory excuse, but the wording is ambiguous and does not say that they would try forcing me to drive 20+ miles in the opposite direction to get the truck I ordered well ahead of time. First off, when moving to Wisconsin, when would I ever want an additional 30 minute one-way drive?!! I arranged and paid for a Grayslake pick-up 3 weeks in advance, but now, they're telling me last minute that I need to go to a city a ridiculous 20 miles in the other direction. They tried offering excuses, talking about multiple people leaving Illinois, etc. The reality is simple; I, as a customer, should then not have been given the rental option, if inventory would not be available in the manner specified. It's a failure on their end, and I should not be treated so horribly because of their lack of basic inventory management skills. Times can be tough, but they, the multi-million dollar company, are responsible for keeping their end of the deal in a respectful manner. U-haul is an awful company that doesn't deserve a single cent. The one time I asked for their services led to one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. I regret not paying $300+ to never have to deal with them ever again.

When we returned the truck, the guy said the systems were already shut down and HE would check it in the next day. A few days later we are receiving charges and emails for a HOLE in the truck!!! We did not cause damage whatsoever. We got an email of an accident report that was completed by UHAUL saying an accident happened the day before at 3pm. etc. When we went in the next day to speak with them they had no proof. They didn't even have photos of the truck before we rented it. Seems odd. So we now have multiple charges for this truck. When we filled up the gas tank, the gauge didn't even move. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES HERE!!!! THEY ARE TAKING YOUR MONEY!!!!
