This Market was established in 1908, though there are folks claiming to have pictures showing it was running back in the 1800's too. It's still in it's original building, with the paint fading softly all around the edges of the building. Just as in the old tradition, they try to be a general market - but for a new generation. This is what is on their business card, "Baked goods, groceries, produce, beer, wine & beverages. Antiques, collectibles and furniture from the Old West & Mexico. Saddles, tack, spurs...oh, and of course, coffee". When I was there last, we left with a sack of homemade chipotle rolls, homemade granola, ice cream, 2 home grown organic avocados - and about an hour of entertainment for my mom as she ooo'd and aahh'd over the antique bookshelves holding stuff like Hormel chili in one row and stacks of wine in another. The flyer she gave my mom - who was oh so obviously new to the place, showed pastries, dog treats and deserts are coming soon. Of course, the girl working the counter is the daughter of the family that's owned it for the last 30 years or so. And she told me their semi-long term plans are to turn their "back room" that currently holds the antiques into a restaurant. This place is like no other spot I've ever been in Phoenix. I suggest a drive to check the place out. It's awesome to know places like this still exist.

It's jus a good store and I always am near this location when I'm stomping around Tempe for errands. It has lots of drinks, ice machine always works and gas pumps on both sides. It's just good, well laid out and guts always hold the door for me going in and out. Something about this location is charming. Lots of working people passing thru and taking care of business. It's at the light and easy to get in and out of. I think there's a car wash next store too.

I actually think this used to be an old Circle K or something, but the inside is just crammed floor to ceiling with the liquid gold. The owner was super friendly and patient if you have questions. If you want smokes this is also a pretty good place to get them. The only reason that I can't give them more stars is because to say this is in a not-so-great part of town, would be putting it mildly. It's like a lock your doors and don't display what you bought inside because you may not make it out of the parking lot kind of neighborhood. I would definitely go back here for the selection and prices, but leave my nice watch at home.

This isn't that big of a deal for me, but just a heads up if you're planning on stopping by here that you'll need to go inside if you're getting gas. I made haste when they announced they were considering closing shop. When I finally did visit, I was not disappointed. I came away with quite a few impulse buys, but I really enjoyed the experience! Looks like they're sticking around since they renewed their lease and even started up a new coffee shop/eatery in the same plaza. But I encourage everyone to support this amazing local business and bask in a wack-a-doodle shopping experience!
