Another one of those places that maybe should have remained in childhood. My mother used to make wedding cakes, and many a weekend was spent in the Sacramento version of this store. Mom pouring over decorating tips and sugar crystals, and me pouring over the fun trinketries such as plastic babies, flags of all nations, and sombreros. The store seemed much smaller than I imagined it as a child - yet, I was still able to acquire exactly what I sought: violet frosting coloring gum, and purple metallic sparkles. Mission accomplished. Now on to make a purple i-pod cake. Not sure if they're going to let me use their photo-to-cake topper service to make a Silversun Pickups album cover for my ipod cake though. Bummer. read more

I love this place. I love that it is over-crowded with anything and everything I could possibly ever want or need to meet my every baking desire. Many times, a "quick" trip to this place has turned into over an hour of wandering. I love that staff has left me to my own devices, gone above and beyond to be helpful, but has never tried to push me into buying more. Not that I needed another reason to love it here, but tonight I got one. I left work a bit early to get some last minute supplies (and to avoid ending up on Cake Wrecks), so, of course, traffic was awful and I arrived right at 6p--closing time. I decided to chance it and wait at the door until a staffer caught my eye. Once she did I peeked my head in to request permission to enter for 'just one thing'. I know she didn't want to let me in. I know how badly they all wanted to go home after a long day as I've been in that position many times myself. But she allowed it and did so with a smile. I jogged back to get my one thing and remembered I also needed boxes. She was so very gracious to help me out with that as well. I said thank you a billion times, but I am truly appreciative of folks going the extra mile. The only way I could think of to thank them further was to write a glowing review. Again, I already loved it here. Tonight I was given even more reasons to love it. Thank you to the young woman that helped me and to the gentleman who was also working. I appreciate the kindness as we sometimes seem to be running so low on that. You have earned a fan for life! read more

Absolutely MUST-GO for anything cake, cookie, cupcake related. Went to five stores prior looking for the perfect cookie cutter. Should have started here first because I hit the jackpot! AH-MAZING! If there is a better cake supply company in Phoenix, I haven't found it. As an amateur cake artist the knowledge and experience of the staff is a HUGE help. When I tell them what I'm trying to accomplish they give great tips and show me which products are my best options. They'll also let you sample the food products before you buy. They also have a schedule of classes that changes monthly for helping to improve your cake decorating skills. If you're not careful you can spend a lot. So take your list with you and try to stick to it. read more

I visited this place once only, but I will definitely be going back for all my cake supplies. The lady who was helping me (I think she was the owner) was incredibly helpful and offered her suggestions for different products and tips. I wish there were a better way to launch complaints or have this situation handled! Sad to say, this is not the first time that I have had such horrible service from this store. Have shopped this store since it was a little bitty one south of McDowell many years ago. My kids used to look for things to add to their doll house and fire station. Was happy they moved to Indian School. Have never run into a rude sales person and have been helped time and time again. Guess with all they do, a bad day here and there is ok. ABC is the best and only cake supply shop in AZ.. They have everything you will need there. The staff are super friendly and will help you with anything and give you great ideas. The prices can be a bit higher than going to Michael's and Joann's but they have a wider selection than those places. Best molds for chocolates and suckers. As a culinary industry employee/baked goods enthusiast, I have to say that I really dig this little gem. They have everything you could need for baking that perfect cake, cookie, candy, chocolate, etc. They have decorations, edible glitters, sprinkles, cake toppers, utensils, cake sheets, food coloring, helpful staff, classes and more! I love coming in here and just walking around to try and get ideas. They can be a tad pricey but it's worth checking out. This place was amazing!!! Tons of stuff to look through! I went in looking for pastry/decorating bags and found so much more! They had an amazing array of cookie cutters!! They had dinosaurs, cowboy, states, mermaid cookie cutters and soooo much more! They also had a great variety of decorating tips and large sizes too which I thought did not exist! They also had wedding cake toppers that had gay and lesbian couples, which I thought was awesome since I was in AZ and was surprised to see this! They also had chocolate molds as well. You can't get better than this store for every type of baking supply you need - and stuff you didn't know you needed until you saw it there.

First time shopping here. Great selection. Purchased my items, only to get home 45 miles away to discover that the fondant mat I purchased to complete an order for the next day, was not in my bag. I called 2 minutes prior to closing and someone picked up and hung up. I called the next morning and spoke to Sabrina, who after leaving me on hold for 12 minutes, told me they could ship the item to me at my expense, or issue a store credit. Due to the fact that I'm not at fault, I told her I wanted a refund or the item shipped to me free of charge for the inconveniences. After all I was unable to complete my order and I do live multiple cities away. Sabrina was abrasive and argumentative and rudely suggested that it was my fault that the cashier failed to place my item in my bag. Apparently, as the customer, I am also responsible for bagging and verifying my items, not the staff employed there. I have never felt more disappointed and disrespected as a consumer in my life. In honestly shocked by me to have blame placed on me. I am now supposedly awaiting the owner to call me tomorrow. At this point there is nothing to talk about except for a full refund! Wow! First impressions are always lasting impressions. I'll never shop here again! read more

Their prices are very reasonable too. If you own a store, make sure you apply for their resale program where you can get almost everything at the resale price w/o paying for taxes. Will never shop here again. They might have a large selection of products but the old biddies that run the place are rude. I went in there with my daughter and we were picking out different supplies we needed, one of them came up to me and asked if I was going to buy the stuff my daughter had in her hands and asked that my daughter not touch the merchandise. She was helping me carry the different items. Both of us had an armful of stuff for the cakes we were making for Girl Scouts, I dumped it all and went somewhere else to shop. I like to stock up on cellophane bags and disposable loaf pans (those brown paper ones) for holiday gift giving. I come here whenever I'm baking something special. They usually have whatever it is I'm looking for. If not, it usually can't be found anywhere else either. I also took one of the classes, GREAT instructors, totally worth the money I spent on supplies. The staff is always friendly. The rows are kind of small so if the place is packed it can get awkward, but they're jam packed with stuff so it can't be helped. Do be careful in the entrance/parking area, it can get a little congested and not everyone pays attention. Wish there was one closer to me. :) read more

This place is amazing! Went in to purchase cupcake box inserts which I have not been able to find anywhere else locally and was easily distracted by all of the cake pans, piping tips, sugar toppings, cookie cutters, etc. I arrived just as the store was closing and there were still a ton of people in the store. I really wish ABC would extend their business hours since they are only open until 5:30 during the week, close at 3pm on Saturday, and are not open Sundays. read more
