The booklet was useful but pretty elementary. It was read aloud by the instructor, and some additional information was dictated to us as "notes." The practice bar was not at all what one would encounter in a real setting. No sinks, ice bins, soda gun and the liquors on the speed rack were just colored water or plain water. There was not a full complement of types of drink glasses to use for practice and there was no mixer/blender that would normally be at a bar. Absolute fucking bullshit. Save your money and just watch YouTube or do flash cards at home, tweak your resume and lie about having past experience because the truth is no one will hire you and this fucking place DOES NOT DO JOB PLACEMENT. I got my bullshit certificate emailed to me along with a list of local places that might be hiring. I can do that myself with Google. Its supposed to be a 3 hr long class for two weeks but the instructor cut it short and left after the first hr and half because she had to pick her son up from soccer. The whole thing was reading a work book out loud and playing fake kitchen fisher price style. And the test you take at home on your own time. Seriously, you could totally cheat on the answers and still ​pass. Seriously save yourself time, money and frustration. If you're currently taking the course, just ask for a refund. read more

This was a total scam and a complete waste of money. In the 4 classes I attended, we never once mixed a single drink. Imagine going to "bartending school" and never mixing a drink. That's like going to flight school and never flying a plane, or culinary school and never cooking a meal, or music school and never playing an instrument. It was a complete sham. The instructor was completely high in the first class, the room was overfull with another class, and all we did was copy answers from her book to our workbook because she was busy trying to help the other class study for their test the next week. I was hoping the second class would be different, but it was worse. The instructor spent all her time testing the other classes and grading their tests. Once again, we didn't mix a single drink and just copied her answer book. In the third class, we simply studied for our written test, which was the following week. Again, no mixing drinks. The fourth class was the test. That was it. $300 for free information I could've gotten off the internet with ZERO actual "bartending" application of any kind. Now, for the location: It is TRASH! It is located in the basement of an office building with no running water, and no bathroom. The "bar" is poorly built, and the floor slants. The only other thing in the room was a pop-up table and folding chairs. There were "liquor" bottles filled with water and the instructor joked that she was supposed to use colored dye to resemble liquor and liqueur colors, but refused to because it stained her clothes in her first class. Not that it mattered, because again, we never mixed drinks. Also, the "job placement" is a joke. Most of the places they list aren't hiring and some don't even have a bar or hire bartenders! I tried reaching out via phone to discuss my experience with the company and see if I could attend another location where I "actually" learned mixology and bartending, so I could get what I paid for, and the guy that answered hung up on me mid conversation. I assume he blocked my number because my calls now just go to voice mail. I've also tried texting and emailing the company with zero response. I can't dispute the charge because I paid with my bank instead of a protected credit card. So, the only thing I have left to do is write a review of my experience and hopefully save someone else from the same terrible experience. - Don't waste your money or your time. - I don't know about other locations, but Raleigh, NC is NOT IT! Save your money and use Google to learn drink recipes. You'll learn more and won't end up frustrated, and out hundreds of wasted dollars and two weeks of wasted time. read more

Well. I paid for a class at the Raleigh location. I showed up and that's where this adventure begins The website showed a different address which made me think maybe they just haven't updated their page yet. For peace of mind I went to both locations. One location is actually a law office so I assumed that's not the right spot (7404 Chapel Hill rd suite M) and the address listed here in Raleigh is an empty place that has been gutted (see photo) I sent a few emails asking what is going on and 30 minutes after the class was supposed to start I got an email saying they share office space with the law office (no signs or any indication whatsoever). I also never got a confirmation email. Nothing in junk folder or anything. But here is where it gets interesting: The website shows 04 January class. That's perfect because it works with my schedule. Since I never heard anything I sent an email asking for confirmation on the class. I got an email back saying that the class was on the 11th. I thought that was odd since everything on the website said the 4th. I sent a screenshot back of the ad and mentioned how I was confused. Later, I received a iMessenger message from them confirming the 4th. Naturally, that made me think the 11th was a mistake. The last communication I got prior to today was confirming the 4th! Today I managed to get ahold of a person after several attempts. Since I was already frustrated and the class hadn't started, I asked for a refund. They basically said no refunds, not our problem, and then stopped responding to me. What stinks is I was planning on buying the class for my wife along with several husbands also planning to get the class for their wives. We were planning on making it a Lady's event. That will definitely not happen now. You chose $100 bucks over $1000. I'll dispute this charge with Amex and go on down the road to a better place. Lesson learned. I went to look at the school to register in person. I swore we were in the wrong spot because it looks like apartments. My friend called the number given to us by a lady sitting at a front desk in what looked like a run down two story apartment building converted into offices. The lady told us the school is in the basement. Upon calling the number some girl answered the phone asking which location we were interested in taking classes at. She acted like there are several locations. After confirming Raleigh she immediately kept pushing my friend to make a deposit payment over the phone. It was so suspect. My friend asked her how many people were already enrolled in the current class so we could make sure we weren't put on a waitlist or something. The girl said she didn't know how many people were currently enrolled for the class that begins next week, that there is a seat number limit and that it is first come first serve so we should pay now over the phone. Like what!? We were more interested in just checking out the place first. After she hung up and we went around the back of the grungy building, I saw a small black sign for the ABC bartending school with a different phone number. I called it and the same girl answered and got a nasty attitude with me. Needless to say me nor my friend will be paying these scam artists for their "bartending classes." This has scam written all over it. There is no official place where you can pay in person. She did not even give info on how I could check out the school first. A good school or business would have professional staff, accurate information and they would offer a solution to my questions not just be rude and not even set up a time to check out the class. The back of the building had a door you can't look in. I am guessing thats the basement where the "classes" happen. So creepy and dirty looking. The rude, nasty attitude girl said we could only pay over the phone or online. Yeah right, give a stranger financial info over the phone? Don't waste your time with this scam. These people seem like they need to be cleaning up road sides instead of running a poor excuse for a bartender school. Honestly, I wonder if this place is even legal or is it just that easy to stick a bar and alcohol in a random basement of a dirty building and sell it as a bartending school. I had a great experience with ABC Bartending School. I attended the Tuesday and Thursday night class. Had a delay the second week due to bad weather but it worked out perfectly with my schedule. The 4 classes went by pretty fast and I'm super excited to start my own Bartending services. Thank you to Miranda who was my instructor! read more

I'm going on week 2 of my class and I'm very impressed! I'm doing Saturday class for 4 weeks and so far learning a lot but having fun! This is a relaxed environment and to the point. I would advise driving to the place before class just to know the location. The class is in the back of the building, might be easy to get lost. They also offer a payment plan that is very much affordable. So far I'm very happy with my experience. read more

We had a LivingSocial coupon for a 4 hour mixology class. Now my expectations may have been way too high - but I was expecting to learn about mixing drinks, what goes with what etc. What we got instead was about two hours of working through a booklet that talked about all the spirits in an American Bar and some of the cocktails to make with said spirits. Not only has my bartending book much more detail and more cocktail recipes - but the little booklet was so full with mistakes (grammer, spelling, etc.) and inaccuracies that it was hard to take seriously. And when the teacher started talking about single malt whiskeys - how they are made with just one kind of malt and blended whiskeys are made with more kinds of malt - I was about to walk out. This may be an easy way to get a Bartending certificate by taking the longer course - but just for mixing drinks it was a complete waste of time. :-( read more

SCAM. Literally stole money for me. They have a policy where you can get your money back if you've attended less than 50% of their class. I expressed my dissatisfaction before the 50% mark and have heard NOTHING back from them. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. ABC bar tending is a MISERABLE excuse for a school. Their customer service is next to NONEXISTENT. My phone calls were never answered, my e-mails were never answered. The RALEIGH location is TERRIBLE. It's literally a bar set up in a dark basement of some run-down building. The stools are loose, shaky, and will break any second, the bathroom is DISGUSTING as expected, and the work space is REPULSIVE and UNSANITARY. The bar tending teacher was extremely UNPROFESSIONAL. She herself CRITICIZED ABC bar tending for being a JOKE and was more than an hour late for her class. If it were an actual bar, no one would go here much less come to learn bar tending. ABC Bar tending school is a WASTE of TIME and MONEY. I would literally drink myself to DEATH than recommend that anyone come here. You can learn to become a better bar tender from YouTube or literally any other resource. I expect to hear back from corporate or whoever runs this TRASH HEAP and get my money back. read more
