This company is either completely incompetent or flat-out dishonest -- maybe both. I hired them to diagnose a problem with my AC, and they told me I needed a major part replaced. Their quote? Over $2,000. Thankfully, something didn't sit right with me, so I called another company for a second opinion. The new technician immediately found the real issue -- something minor -- and fixed it on the spot for $200. The expensive part the first company wanted to replace wasn't even broken! So either they had no idea what they were doing, or they were trying to scam me out of thousands of dollars for no reason. Either way, that's completely unacceptable. I'm disgusted by the experience. I wouldn't trust this company to plug in a fan, let alone work on an AC system. If you value your money and don't want to get ripped off, do yourself a favor and call someone else. read more

Had an issue where our furnace was leaking gas and the fire department had to come to our rental property to shut off our gas. Obviously this was an emergency so I called ABC afterhours and was greeted very nicely and courteously. They came out and assessed the situation, advised me of what they needed to do and how to remedy the situation. It was determined that I needed to replace my whole system and because it's not cheap, I obviously called other companies for different quotes. ABC will beat the competition prices, just show them the other companies estimates. This alone as well as their customer service is top notch. Customer service seems to be their motto and it shows. Our HVAC water pan was nearly overflowing on the coldest day of the year. I called ABC at 11 am, Mike the tech said he'd come at 1 pm. But called back to say he could come earlier. He arrived at 1230, took time to diagnose the problem (clogged drain pipes and calcified filter), gave me a time and cost estimate to replace our drainage pipes and filter. He had all the parts on his truck except one. He replaced all the pipes by 230, and came back at 4 with the extra filter. Heat is back to normal and water lines are clear! I spoke to a very rude gentleman as instructed by the warranty company provided for a property I manage. He spoke extremely fast, curt, and rudely to me from the start of the call, and when I asked for clarification on what he said, he made it seem like I, the customer, was inconveniencing him. Anyway, so do not be fooled by the name, they are not actually 24 hours as stated by the rude gentleman I had gotten. Okay, fine, so I ask to go ahead and set up an appointment and I was told they can't even set up an appointment until Saturday, two days from now. This is a no-heat call and the temperature is below 45 degrees. I don't understand how in any legitimate HVAC business this is acceptable, to have to wait over two days to even set up an appointment. Go with someone else, these guys are rude and unprofessional. I have never been treated like that by any vendor. EDIT: While I had not actually used their service, and the initial point of contact was still very rude, I did receive a call from the owner personally apologizing for the situation and clarifying they had been short staffed. Does that make it right? No not completely, but I do appreciate the effort the owner gave in trying to correct the situation, and he had offered me a discount on my first service with them if I do move forward. Mike is the most un professional person I have met. Not only he could not fix our thermostat the first time, he blamed problem on us for not knowing how to use it. We had to call back and showed up 4 days later and spent over an hour and had to reinstall another new thermostat while re-wiring the whole board on the furnace. I really think he does not know much about his profession. I noticed this as he was working. He tried everything a few times until he thought it was working. He charged our home warranty company $200 for a $60 thermostat. I found him to be dishonest & disrespectful. read more

Mike came out after-hours in the middle of a heatwave when our AC would not come on. He said that he would be able to replace our 2.5 ton Lennox system with a new 3 ton Trane and we'd see a world of difference. At 8am the next morning, he and his crew performed the replacement. He did not try to push us on a brand or size (we asked for the size upgrade). He took some aesthetics into account, recommending that we move the base of the unit (which we did not do). Even though we didn't move the unit, they offered a good price to do it and it made sense. They were done in less than four hours, and the unit cools well and efficiently. We had also asked around, and are confident that we got an excellent price. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of this company being sent by my home warranty to fix my broken HVAC unit recently. I noticed that my air conditioning unit was not cooling properly, and a lot of water was collecting outside the unit as well as on the floor. Mike came and convinced me to replace the PVC pipe coming out of my unit, with some added improvements (adding an easy trap, etc) so I paid $550 out of pocket. I repeatedly asked him to open the unit and check everything because my HVAC unit is 14 years old, and most likely needs replacement. He refused by saying he already checked everything, which was a flat out lie. I know he lied because the 2nd time I called him since the initial problem had not been fixed, he went ahead and checked everything, and determined that the freon was low (most likely due to a leak in the coils) which was causing the coils to freeze which was then causing the AC to not function properly and build up so much water. That type of root causing was what he should have done during his first visit, instead of ripping me off with $550 for an "improvement" which had nothing to do with the actual problem. I have notified my home warranty company and I am posting here to warn other customers about this unethical practice on his part. I've been doing a ton of research since then, and I have found a couple of trustworthy companies to work with. I'm going to replace my entire unit with one of these other companies soon read more

I agree with the other two reviews (including filtered). Don't waste time calling this guy. Call someone else who is honest and reliable. Mohammed(Mike) was assigned by the warranty company when my upstairs AC stopped working. Without thorough review, he said the outside unit was broken and replaced the unit. He charged the insurance company($3,000) and me($600) for uncovered charges. No clear written or oral explanation of charges were given. The unit stopped after two weeks and this time he said it was the air handler in attic that was broken. Once again he replaced the unit and charged insurance company and me ($400). The unit stopped again and this time he refused to come take a look. The insurance company had to assign another contractor. The new contractor took an hr to diagnose the real issue. A leak in the system and also found that the outside unit was not properly installed and freon was leaking. Instead of diagnosing the real issue, Mohammed replaced units and cost the insurance company and me. On a scale from 1-10... They were rude, pushed an up-sell to get the fins on the AC-unit acid washed, and despite the system not being able to cool the house below 79-degrees, said it was working fine. Our home warranty company sent them out to evaluate both of our A/C units. Mike biased his report to them so they would not cover the one unit so that he could try to up-sell us into purchasing a whole new unit. Then, when the home warranty approved the work on the second unit they installed a new condenser & coil stating it's fixed. There was almost no air-flow to any of the vents and 30 minutes later the unit was frozen and no longer working. Called them back, Mike reluctantly came out to look at things and essentially told me I did not know what I was talking about when I described what had happened. Turned the unit back on, and took laser measurements showing me that it was cold at the vents.. Yes cold in the vent, but with no air-flow it was doing no good. 20 minutes later.. frozen solid .. He finally admitted i was right, that it was not working and started blaming it on the vents being blocked and that is something that they don't handle. Called the home warranty company .. six days later (some of the hottest on record) the second company came out to evaluate the problems.. quick check .. bad capacitor on the blower motor .. 15 minutes later nice cold air pouring out of the "blocked" vents. But this is not the worst of it.. The entire time Mike was checking the work his crew had done the day before he was still trying to get more money out of me complaining that the Warranty company doesn't pay them enough and that even with the very high amount that I paid, out of pocket, and the fact that the home warranty co. paid them ~ 50% of what I did, he was only making $500 over his expenses. HE SCREWED UP THE JOB AND WAS COMPLAINING THAT HE WASN'T PAID ENOUGH FOR HIS SHODDY WORKMANSHIP. Now I have no idea what the home warranty company paid, but if they only paid 50% of what I paid out of pocket, then this man is a goddamned thief! If there were any way to give a NEGATIVE number of stars I would: -10 Save your BP and your hard earned cash, avoid this company like the plague! *** UPDATE *** In addition to the above we found out that the coil that ABC installed was the wrong size and the TVX was not replaced as part of the coil replacement and it was also bad. The combination of the two, along with the bad capacitor, are the causes of the subsequent failures of the A/C to work properly. We have also had second opinions provided on the other A/C unit and Mike's diagnosis and report (which caused the home warranty company to refuse to cover it) has now been reversed by TWO other HVAC contractors. Both contractors laughed hysterically when they read/heard of Mike's assertion that the unit would "explode" if he tried to refill the Freon in it. The one contractor happily restored some functionality to it by giving it a charge to get us through the heat wave while we submitted his report to our home warranty company. read more

Was assigned them by my warranty company. Was given a temporary fix to my air handler unit. My bills skyrocketed from 150 a month to 300 because only the emergency heat was running. On top of that, I was told my thermostat was old and that it was also the issue. Was charged almost $180 dollars for a thermostat that was THE same as my 6 month old thermostat but just sold to commercial companies. The next company to come out told me that outside compressor had been totally messed up since the last summer. Wouldn't recommend them at all, even if they did free diagnostic work. read more

Mike, the owner of the company and his technician did an excellent job for us. We have Carrier Infinity Units with 4 zones and one of the air conditioning units stopped working. We have a warranty policy through the mortgage company and called them. Warranty company sent out two companies on separate days but the companies did not service Carrier Infinity. So we were 4 days without AC upstairs in our home. Finally they sent out Mike's company, ABC 24 Hours Heating & Cooling. I read the prior reviews here on Yelp so I was initially skeptical but I have to say they found multiple problems and fixed this very complex Carrier system. They were on time, easy to work with and Mike addressed all of our questions and explained all the issues and what he needed to do to address them. He went and got the parts the same day and finally the system is working again. I read the google reviews and the company has excellent track record on google with 41 reviews. Sometimes things happen and good companies get bad reviews but in this case we are completely satisfied and I would highly recommend Mike and his company located in Oakton, VA. Not many people are willing to work on Carrier Infinity Units and I am pleased we got excellent repair results. My dad was the focal point in working with Mike and dad is a tough old Viking who doesn't trust easily or take any baloney and he is the one who suggested I give Mike a good review here for a job well done. read more

We called ABC 24 hours, Mike (MOHAMMAD HATAMIEH), since he replaced a capacitor for me during summer and he was cheaper than other companies at that time. So this time, he said the motor was bad and he had one in his truck and that it would cost $600. I asked him to go ahead. After he replaced the motor, he asked me to switch on the circuit breaker and as soon as I did, there was a spark and the motor got shorted. He told me that the motor was bad and it was the manufacturer's fault. And he will come back the following day with a new motor and fix it but he needed $300 in advance. I told him that since his install was no good, I cannot pay him any money. He acted like he was upset and left saying I needed to find someone else to fix it. After a few calls, I found a HVAC guy who was trained in Trane HVAC pumps (the unit we have) and he found that the connections were wrong within a few minutes and replaced the motor very quickly and everything started working again. And he charged me only $400 including the new motor. Please hire a more qualified and experience HVAC person to service your system as I believe that this guy lacks in skills needed to service a HVAC Unit. read more
