After being without dental insurance for almost 6 years, I finally got Medi-cal and was referred to Dr. Nouri. I had cavities and broken teeth and I knew I would probably have to get most of them extracted and get implants or dentures. Over the last 6 months, I've had 20-something extractions and gotten a partial lower denture, and a full upper denture, all with Dr. Nouri. I was expecting the worst on my first visit for extractions, but to my surprise it was not nearly as bad as I expected. Dr. Nouri would apply a topical numbing gel before giving the numbing injections, and then give it plenty of time to work before starting on the first extraction. He always tested the feeling around my gums before starting to make sure I was completely numb, which I appreciated. I will eventually get implants, but Dr. Nouri has made my transition to dentures easy, informed, and almost painless. read more

HORRIBLE - HORRIBLE - HORRIBLE I was referred to this dentist through my insurance and the receptionist could not be more RUDE, SHADY, or LAZY. I asked if I could make an appointment and that I am a new patient. She said that she doesn't want to see me for 30 days until after she gets a letter in the mail confirming I am a patient. I told her i could come in with my drivers license and dental ID. This lady LITERALLY TAKE HER EXTRA TIME and that she DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT. I said can't you look me up i the system and she said yes but that would take time and she didn't want to do that. This lady made every possible effort not to assist me and told me that she was going to hang up because she had an incoming call and didn't want to help someone who wasn't already a patient. read more

Dr. Nouri and his receptionist Pari were the greatest!! I was really nervous to see a new dentist (I had the same dentist for 20 years then had to change dental plans) and was prepared for the worst, but Dr. Nouri was gentle, professional, and kind. I got 3 cavities filled, and he was helpful about explaining the procedure, the options, and discussing prevention. He was also really nice about answering all of my nervous questions (I asked a lot of questions). The receptionist Pari is a riot in the best way, she cracks me up!! But she is also of course professional and helpful, and really helped me understand the payments and insurance coverage and stuff. Both of them seemed like they really cared. I've had nothing but excellent work done by Dr Nouri, from Root Canals to Crowns, in fact I still have a crown in the front from 2008. I don't have very good Insurance, Denti-Cal, but I have never been treated any less by Dr Nouri or Pari. Both are very good at explaining Everything, what's covered and what is not. I don't understand the negative reviews because in all the years I've gone to this Dentist I've gotten excellent dental work. Dr Nouri did tell me to cut out the Soda Pop for the health of my Teeth but Never Rude or Cruel. I will continue to go back to Dr Nouri for my Dental Care and recommend him to others. read more

Dr. Nouri and his receptionist Pari are lovely people who run an excellent dentistry business. I've been a patient of his for about 5 years now. There is somewhat of a language barrier, as English is not their first. This language barrier goes both ways - just as much as I might sometimes (though not very often) have trouble understanding their English, they might have trouble understanding mine, which, on occasion, can lead to some confusion between us. Regardless of whether some things get lost in translation, they have never been directly related to the profession, at least, in my experience. Most of the time, it's just during casual everyday gabbing, like friendly chit-chat at the front desk and shooting the breeze with Dr. Nouri in the dentist's chair before and after procedural work. When it comes to arranging and performing said procedural work, however, before they begin, Dr. Nouri and Pari always make sure they're 100% certain that they're on the same page with you with no margin for error. They take the quality of their work and the satisfaction of their patients very seriously. If it's their own first language, a lot of people (especially in the United States), whether consciously or not, tend to measure the aptitude of a medical professional based solely on the fluency of their English. If said professional makes little to no effort in communicating with the patient, however, that problem lies more within the professional's careless attitude than it might with their quality of practice. Make no mistake - Dr. Nouri is not one of those careless types. I needed a root canal sometime in mid-2017, and during part of the procedure, he had me bite down on a sheet of a firm, putty-like substance, telling me that even the slightest movement of said putty could result in an uneven, uncomfortable crown as it sets, emphasizing firmly (yet gently) multiple times to concentrate on not budging my jaw, tongue, or anything else that could disturb the process. So, I followed his instructions and kept my bite and jaw as still as I possibly could. When it came time to apply the crown, it fit like a glove. On a side note, I have autism. Due to sensory processing issues with my mouth, gums, and teeth, it's more difficult for me to take proper care of my dental hygiene than the average person might. In the past, other dentists I've visited were unsympathetic to this and thus unhelpful; at times, even condescending and judgmental. However, I get none of this from Dr. Nouri. He understands that some people simply have more trouble taking care of their teeth, and will kindly discuss this with you in a manner that leaves you feeling like you're getting encouraging advice from an old friend and not a lecture from a DDS who's disappointed in you. Dr. Nouri and Pari are lovely people. I always enjoy seeing them and catching up when I visit; Dr. Nouri is warm, inviting, and tells great stories. You should ask him about what it was that made him want to go into dentistry - I won't spoil it, but I'll just say it was funny, charming, and shed some light on his character. Another side note: I'm somewhat convinced that Pari is some sort of sage. The first time I went in for an appointment and made her acquaintance at the front desk, she looked me in the eyes for a few seconds, nodding, and said, "You're an artist, aren't you?" I work as an illustrator. At the time, I had nothing on my person that would indicate any such thing - just my purse and its sparse contents. Suffice it to say, I was not only flabbergasted, but in wonder and awe. When you talk with Pari beyond the formalities of receptionist work, you get this feeling that she knows who you are deep down inside. Not in a judgmental sense or anything, moreso some sort of ethereal understanding. She is otherworldly in the most intriguing of ways. As evidenced by other reviews, I'm not the only one who is well satisfied with Dr. Nouri's practice. A couple of these particularly vitriolic one-star reviews are worth a closer read between the lines. I ask that you keep that in mind before assuming the worst. Overall, I'm very happy with Dr. Nouri and Pari's practice, and I'm equally as delighted to have gotten to know them as people over the years. As another reviewer here has pointed out previously, you do indeed get the sense that they really care, and I believe that that's because they do. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!! He is a crook! Please save yourself pain and money-read below. And then go see the dentist that fixed what Dr.Nouri did and is the best dentist both in ability and kindness-Dr.Darryl Burke. I don't know how I would have recovered from Dr.Nouri without Dr.Burke. I have a very high pain tolerance and have never been even nervous about seeing a dentist. I like dentists! I look forward to cleanings! But I now know why people are scared of dental work. Because of dentists like Dr.Nouri. I was in pain and yelling out while he was drilling out my cavity and he just pinned my head and jaw and continued, by saying "you're almost done." This was painful and unnecessary. One of the novocaine shots weren't even in my gums... I felt it shoot onto the back of my throat and started choking. He started the cavity work anyways. At one point I jerked and cried out. It was the worst experience I've ever had with any doctor. Unprofessional and callous. After he was done I told him I couldn't close my jaw and asked him to adjust the filling and he said "you're fine..." and then walked out of the room. He never even apologized or said anything about the pain he caused and the front desk just pointed at the door while she was on the phone. Terrible! I can overlook the disrepair of the office. I can overlook the constant need to check my insurance card. I can overlook the scheduling difficulties, and even the odd waivers you have the patients sign for everything. I can even overlook Dr.Nouri giving me a hard time about my small nose ring stud, and his judgments on people who have any piercings. I even removed it to make him more comfortable. I CANNOT OVERLOOK DR.NOURI PUSHING THROUGH DENTAL WORK WITHOUT PROPER ANESTHESIA AND THEN REFUSING TO ADJUST THE HIEGHT OF MY FILLING AFTERWARD. I have more pain now than before I had work done, and now I can't even fully close my teeth. If I had the ability to get his license taken I would. I'm calling the dental association today to report him. Save yourself. Do not come here. read more

Everyone here is absolutely WONDERFUL! The excellent care coupled with kindness and compassion is beyond reproach. My daughter had a root canal and crown and they were so sweet about me having to break it into two payments. Painless and pleasant dentistry and that is hard to find! please avoid by all cost!!! receptionist is incompetent in scheduling and receiving patience and dental experience is horrible. i am convinced that these previous reviews have been written by the office themselves under a different alias. another problem is that there is a major language barrier on the phone and in person. i am not a native english speaker and i worked really hard to speak to the best of my abilities so that other individuals can understand me well. which i think is especially important if you work in a position that is customer service intensive, where you spend a majority of your time communicating with others. i also want to mention that this dental office is also bias when it comes to insurance so my suggestion is if you want to be treated fairly do not say you have an government issued insurance or you are asking to be treated very poorly. all in all, i ask that you heed to my warning as i wouldnt wish this experience for my worst enemy. dentistry isn't the most friendliest profession as it is usually associated with lots of pain so this made it ten times worst. do not look at the qty of reviews either to make your decision. i am only an individual who was looking for fair, competent, quality service. no special whistles or horns. read more
