We visited several places she had seen in one of her favorite television mini-series, including Granny's Diner (Cannery Cafe), Mr. Gold's Pawnshop (Mr. Gold's Gelato), the ruined clock tower (a similarly run-down antique mall), and several other filming locations around the area. We went souvenir shopping at the wharf, where locals purchased fresh seafood (particularly spot prawns) right off the boat, stopped for drinks at a riverside cafe (Blue Canoe), and stayed three nights at the Steveston Cafe & Hotel, located just a block away from all the action, among many other things. Our adventure seemed limitless, for there seemed to be something new to discover around every corner, whether it be a shop, a restaurant, or a landmark of historical interest. We loved every minute of it. When our time came to return home to "the real world", we left feeling a bit listless and melancholy, after having had such a wonderful time. Fortunately, we took home with us an innumerable number of photos, a few souvenirs, and a priceless collection of memories of our time spent together in this quaint, curious and magical place. And we lived happily ever after!

Very bad business practice…read more We booked a 3pm tour. It was the last day that we are in Vancouver, we would be flying home that night. At 1:45pm, after we have planned our whole day around the excursion and checked out of the hotel in preparation of this tour, Sea Vancouver office called and said they are cancelling my tour because they "need a minimum of 4 people and only 3 people booked". I explained that we are leaving the city that day, and we planned our whole day around this, and if there is anything they can do. It is unreasonable to only notify me 75 minutes prior to departure time - we were already on the way to the departure point! The only thing they said was that they will refund me in full (I'd better hope so since you cancelled it with incredibly short notice!) I understand that it may not be economical to operate a tour based on fixed cost, but this was NOT written anywhere when I booked it on the official website, but they were happy to take my money when I booked. The confirmation email stated "We reserve the right to delay or cancel a departure for events beyond our control (e.g. adverse weather conditions, technical or mechanical issues, etc.)" -- well, operating a boat when there are "only" 3 paying customers is definitely in their control, they just choose to screw over their customers. This has put a really sour taste on my trip to Vancouver. I would encourage everybody to stay away.

We honestly planned this boat tour super last minute, so we called a few places, but they were all closed. Fortunately, Sea Vancouver still had tours going out until 7pm which was the last one! The lobby is located in the Westin hotel and the ride is 90 minutes long, which takes you all around the harbor of Vancouver to the English Bay! There was so much to see at the waterfront and we even saw a few dolphins along the ride! We were hoping for orcas too but maybe next time haha. Overall the boat tour was absolutely amazing! As a tourist, you want to visit Granville island, Science museum, Maritime museum, Museum of vancouver, various parks, Davie Village, all are within a short walking distance from these Ferry stops. You can save a lot of time, energy and money with this pass. Not only will you be seeing this as a mode of transportation but also as a picturesque journey itself. Considering how short the rides are, you dont really have to plan much. You can hop on hop off as you feel like. The boats are small, so there is never really much of a waiting time for docking or embarkation. Like a city bus but on water. Must try.

To start out on our adventure, a nice new bus took us from a local hotel to the train station and back again. For a one day adventure, I am not sure I would recommend this due to the price, but again, it was quite the adventure. When we arrived at the train station, we promptly boarded our "coach car" and were treated to coffee, tea and juice. Once the train pulled away from the station we were given a boxed breakfast that had a sandwich (fresh made on a croissant) and cut up fruit. I did not eat the sandwich as it was my very worst nightmare of all things I don't eat (mayo, ham and hard boiled eggs), but the husband enjoyed his. The service on our train was stellar and the views were spectacular. There is an open car where you can take pictures and really get a sense of what being off the highway has to offer. Once we arrived in Whistler (it was about 3 hours later) we had a 2.5 hour long time in Whistler Village (enough time to have lunch and walk around). The bus that took us from the train to the village was too crowded and seemed less organized than the bus trip from the hotel to the station. Whistler was a total waste of time for us other than the fact that my in-laws (brother/sister/nephew) drove up from Bellingham just to have lunch with us here. It was a total tourist trap without enough signage as to how to get around the small village and an incredibly mediocre amount of bathrooms. We were happy to get back onto the bus to take us back to the train station and have our first class experience. This car was bigger, the seats a little more plush and there was high tea and booze served all with real glass, silverware and cloth napkins. The service again was stellar, the tea itself tasty and it was a lot of fun. The train trip itself was one of the highlights of our vacation (cost and all) and to be honest, there was no need to "upgrade" as the coach car (sans the nasty sandwich) was perfect in and of itself.

This is a daily-run train that goes from North Vancouver (with pickup at downtown hotels) to…read moreWhistler on a very scenic route. There are two service levels -- $109 (special) for coach and $250 for "dome car" service. First, the service is very good. Organized pickups and luggage handling, friendly staff on board, interesting tour-guide material without it being too in-your-face. The real star here, though, isn't the train but the spectacular views along the way. But their marketing materials is a little bit more, er, enthusiastic than reality. For one thing, the "Glacier Dome Car" sounds great but, in fact, is not in a dome car at all. To be accurate, it should be called a "Glacier Tall Windows Car." And while you do get fed hot food in the Dome Car (as opposed to cold food), there's really not that much difference between it and the regular coach class. Same sized seating and legroom from what I could tell, access to the same heritage car, reclining seats, assigned seating, and so on. Save the $250; go with the cheaper $109 "Classic Coach" version instead. The train company promised "fully reclining seats" on the Dome car and, as I knew I would need to rest, this is partially why I opted to go with the train rather than the bus. In fact, the seats do NOT fully recline. While they recline more than coach seats in an airplane, if you're expecting to be able to lie down (that *is* what fully reclining means), you'll be disappointed. Ticketing went well. Through a snafu, they had my directions reversed but it was taken care of quickly. The tickets are not refundable in any way, though you can move unused tickets to a later date in the year. For a change fee, natch. And finally, the train arrived 30 minutes later than scheduled which seemed to be the norm. There didn't seem to be any unusual delays -- after all, there aren't traffic jams on the rail tracks -- just seemed to be a bit of lasse faire. Didn't affect me, but might be a concern for people with a tight air connection who expect to arrive when scheduled. Overall, despite feeling a bit misled by some of the promises (dome car, a big differences by paying more than double, and "fully" reclining seats), the trip was smooth and enjoyable. Bring your camera!!

Guaranteed thrills on this zodiac boat tour! Wow..talk about an adrenline rush! This was basically a high speed thrill ride in a jet boat with amazing scenery. Life is always better on a boat! I was literally just having the time of my life!! 3 hours of pure adrenline and jaw-dropping views....speeding across those waves felt like a roller coaster on the water! Zooming down the ocean, wind in your hair, sun on your face...you'll have the time of your life!!! The adrenaline rush was unreal, and the views from the water were stunning. Still buzzing from the speed, and sprays. And let's be honest, seeing Van from the water is absolutely epic. You rediscover the city from a completely different perspective. The experience is a total thrill -- high speeds with the sun and wind in your face, plus those mini splashes of water that make it feel even more epic. Vancouver's coastline is stunning, but seeing it at high speed is a whole different experience. We felt safe but totally exhilarated. Here's a hidden gem of the BC Vancouver area nestled in Horseshoe Bay. This place offers an…read moreexuberant escape called the Sea Safari Eco Tour. This tour takes you quickly around the Georgia Strait and slows down at different times to discover many seals and birds including a couple Bald Eagles!! Wow!! We also saw many islands of various sizes and get a glimpse of several multi-million Dollar homes with incredible views. Before you leave the harbor, you'll put on a jail looking Orange jumpsuit which keeps you warm and doubles as a life preserver too. Feels like a space suit when you put it on. Next you'll receive some clear glasses too. You'll need those when the water splashes at different times in your direction. The closer you Sir to the front, the more water and jumpy motion you'll receive. We decided to sit several rows back to reduce the chance of activating old back pains. Josh our guide was very informative especially since he's studying marine biology. He had a keen eye to spot everything including those Bald Eagles I mentioned earlier. He showed us unique locations like Lions Peak and a home that had a Batman like bat cave.

We were scheduled for a shuttle pick up from our hotel at 12:30 pm, but due to a marathon most streets in Vancouver were blocked to traffic. We were stuck on Granville Island and had no way to get back to our hotel in time. A call to Sewell's, and they sent a cab to pick us up at their expense and got us to our boat tour on time! The Sea Safari tour was outstanding. We got outfitted in our survival suits and they also provided gloves, hats, and eye protection if you need them. All you need to bring is your camera and you sit back and enjoy a two hour high speed boat tour of Howe Sound. We saw seals, sea lions, multiple bald eagles and a large variety of other birds. The guides are knowledgeable and really made sure we were comfortable and had a good time. This was our last activity on our vacation and it was an excellent way to round out our trip.

I visited the Vancouver Lookout and left pretty underwhelmed…read more First issue was finding it. It's inside a building, but signage outside is small and not very clear, so it took a bit of wandering before I even found the line. I actually even passed the building up while walking. I needed to use the restroom before going up and saw signage for the one near the food court. Honestly, it was absolutely disgusting and didn't have paper towels. I ended up walking completely out. When I asked the lookout staff about a restroom, I was initially told there wasn't one. Then once they asked if I was intending on buying a ticket, it suddenly appeared that there all of a sudden was a restroom available upstairs. Hmmm but at any rate, it was a completely different experience from the first restroom. Thank goodness. The lookout itself feels dated. You do get a full bird's-eye view of the city, but there wasn't anything especially exciting or memorable about it. They also charged more than what was posted on the signage, so it looks like a recent price increase, $24 CAD mid June. Overall, if you go in with low expectations and just want a quick view of the city, it's fine. But I wouldn't call it a must-do in Vancouver.
