I've had a couple of barbers here in Austin before Abel. I could rely on one of them to be on time for appointments, but his cuts were pretty meh. The other one did great with my hair, but I could never rely on him to be on time for appointments. When I was looking around for other barbers, I saw Abel's name and decided to give him a shot. I found AB through yelp, and chose him because of all the 5 star reviews. It was easy to book an appointment using his online portal (or schedulicity app). He did a great job, and was very thorough and made sure I was happy with everything he was doing. It took me a little while to find the spot, so for those who are going for the first time it is in the MySalon space in the LINC, but it is on the back side (facing away from I-35) side of the LINC. read more

AB has skills. He definitely knows how to execute a fade - thats why my cut was so frustrating. During my first (and only) visit, I asked for a high fade and a trip on my top hair to keep the same fro-hawk shape. AB started the cut and did not show me any progress until he said he was "done". At which point I asked him to make the fade higher and he said "I'd have to start all over" This wasn't a huge deal - I could be ok with a fade that was slightly lower than I wanted... but he butchered my top hair. I guess he didn't care to look at or keep the shape of the cut as I asked and instead now I will have to grow out my hair on top for a few months to get back to where I was. TLDR: Fade is fine. Do NOT let him cut the hair on top unless it is super straight forward and he can't mess it up. read more
