Andrew was working on electrical work and plumbing at our house. He was always friendly and courteous whenever he was over. A few times he would have to reschedule his work and we were always willing to reschedule and cooperate with him.
We spent over $1000 thus far and do not have much to show for it. He replaced an electrical switch box and patched up the wall there, but it looks like the wall was damaged while the box was replaced. In the picture I included, I already added some toothpaste to the areas that wouldn't be covered by the switch plate. Also in the picture you can see how there's a gap between the box and the wall that is still visible when the switch plate is on. It's even a bit difficult to put the switch plate on because the box sticks out a bit, and the plate won't go on flush.
He also changed out our Bath tub faucet, but now we don't have hot water coming out. He was supposed to come back and fix the hot water issue and build a custom access door for the tiles he had to take out.
I have been trying to privately contact him but he's been ignoring and hiding from us (I was going to overlook the electrical box issue because I really don't like confrontation and I thought he was a nice guy). We still wanted him to work for us and had several more projects for him to work on, however he blocked my number out of nowhere. At first, I thought he just broke his phone again since my messages weren't going through, so I tried to yelp message him but I got no response. Then I had my husband text him since I knew he wouldn't have his number, and to no surprise that message got delivered...yet still no response. After my multiple private attempts to contact him, I went on his Business Facebook page to still offer if he will come back to finish the job, or at least give us an explanation on why he will not finish the work. He went ahead and deleted the post.
Without any explanation from him, we are left to our own guess as to what went wrong (which can be pretty scary for a homeowner). At this point, we are at a mutual agreement that he will no longer work for us. I just thought it was extremely unprofessional and slightly childish to completely ignore us like that. I definitely didn't want to be caddy and knock down his business since we were willing to support him and give him more work, but I've given him plenty of opportunities to at least make mends and provide us an explanation. read more
