He also can identify good furniture and explains what you can expect when the piece is refinished. If you have an heirloom piece of furniture that you love they will surely bring it back to life. The tables that I had restored at Heirloom Refinishing had original leather tops. The leather could not be restored, but Carlos came up with a lovely alternative in the staining process once the leather was removed. All the tables were checked for damage and repaired, stripped, stained and the hardware refurbished. When the pieces were finished they delivered them, which was included in the charge. I believe they will pick up also. It took quite a few months and is expensive, but it was worth it. My tables probably look very much as they did when they were in my grandparents' and parents' homes years and years ago. I appreciate their knowledge and impeccable work. Prices were okay. They didn't have a lot in stock for what I was looking for (especially in the…read moreprice range I was looking for). I wanted a table that came with 6 chairs that didn't break the bank. What they had in stock didn't work for us, but I found some chairs that matched a table they would have back in stock in a few days (apparently they had tried to deliver it to someone who sent it back). I was able to get a small discount because of a small scratch, so that was good. The delivery went well. They were able to get the couches in without issue (they definitely get an A+ for that!). They brought the table the table and chairs and put everything together. The reason I gave 3 stars is because of the quality of the chairs for the price I paid. ALL of them have had screws fall out. I've also had to use wood glue to keep some chairs from falling apart. We're not large people, and we don't abuse the chairs (we barely even used them for a few months because we were still unpacking and had stuff on the table so we couldn't use it). The couches have been fine, so maybe if you're going to buy from Furniture House, just stick with couches. I would search elsewhere for a dining table and chairs.

When we started searching for furniture for our new house a few years ago Derbyshire popped up on just about every list I checked and had plenty of great reviews. Now that we've made a few of our own purchases I totally understand the praise this small business gets. The shop is small but mighty and packed with so many good pieces. If your style leans traditional - they've got it. If your style leans more contemporary/modern - they've got it. Plus a few things in between that could go in either direction and work with just about any style or decor. Everything is solid wood and totally customizable. You can pick your stain or paint plus your hardware (should you order something with hardware, of course). The couple that owns the shop have always been very kind and very patient, answering all the questions... especially when I was coming in every other week for too many weeks to look at dressers before I finally made up my mind. Lead time was accurate, delivery days/times were accommodating and the guys that arrived to place our items were totally courteous. For our last order/delivery the guys didn't leave until they leveled our dressers perfectly. I didn't even have to ask.. they just did it and that's how a good delivery and install team should operate. Truly, I only have good things to say about Derbyshire. Next piece of wood furniture that we need I will definitely be stopping in Derbyshire first to check things out.
