We were told that the dishwasher would be installed for $200 less than their regular amount ($350) in order to meet Costco's overall price. We were informed that if any electrical or plumbing work was needed to meet new code there would be an additional charge, which is reasonable. Installers do not give estimates ahead of time. That, and the fact that I trust the craftsmen I have worked with in the past, led me to hire my own plumber and electrician. Everything was ready and up to code for the installers. When the installers arrived, they said that they would need to charge a $200 fee for a trap tailpiece, which is an $8 part at Home Depot and takes 5 minutes to install. When I balked at that ridiculous price, they said I could install it myself, but that would mean they would have to return later for an additional installation fee. They would have me either way, in other words. Having no real choice, I signed off on the work. It took the man less than 5 minutes to install the $8 part and I paid the $200. I called our salesperson, who was understanding and bumped it up to his manager. She informed me that there must have been a misunderstanding because installation companies often need to return at a later date due to work needing to be done, and there is NEVER an additional fee. She would call the installation company and see what could be done. She left a message on my wife's phone the next day, stating that the installation company said we had signed off on the work so nothing could be done. That was it - no explanation from her - just sorry, but you signed off on it. No further follow-up. Due to the lack of help from the store manager, I wrote up the entire scenerio and sent it to the Albert Lee company onlne (the only place to send comments) and, after several weeks, I have still not heard a word from anyone. I understand that a mistake can be made, but making us feel that we had no option but to pay the $200 fee, when they should have come back later at no additional charge, was "blackmail" in my opinion. MY ADVICE: NEVER allow an appliance company to use their own installation company. You do not know their installers, nor do you know their prices. Have reputable electricians and plumbers of your choice do the work, including installation. They should come out ahead of time to give an estimate of work needed and price to install. NEVER trust installers you do not know. We had planned to purchase a refrigerator next - our fourth appliance from that store. That will not be happening now. Lesson learned. Trick me once, but never again. They are losing future sales for a mere $200.

We looked around and tried out beds for an hour and then said we would be back. We came back a few hours later after thinking about what we wanted for awhile. Shawn was patient and answered all the questions we had. We finally decided to purchase a mattress and an adjustable bed frame. The frame was on backorder, but Shawn was able to find us a better frame for just a little bit more. We were worried that it was close to closing but Shawn stayed late to make sure our order got in and we could get it as soon as possible. The next day we decided that we actually wanted to move one level up on the quality of the mattress. We returned to the store and Shawn greeted us with a smile, told us the pros and cons of the change, and then helped us get everything switched over. The best part, we were able to get the bed earlier because it was in stock. Shawn made our whole experience easy and we couldn't be happier. Definitely make the time to stop at this Mattress Depot.

As Shawn spent a long time on the phone unveiling the mystery in that change and discovering several other changes in prices to accessories and other "work around" on costs, we could hear his surprise This was no performance for our benefit; he was truly confused and surprised. All the while we joked and laughed with Dwayne and learned more about the bed and things associated with it. After he got off of the phone, Shawn continued to work with numbers and by the time he finished he had better than matched the lowest price for that bed, then significantly discounted some accessories we wanted. After the sale, the delivery date was important and a rush was requested, monitored, and delivery occurred ahead of the requested date -a bonus. We were never pressured, told it would be be "better to do business here because," or any other high pressure sales tactic. it was always "this is what we have" and it's value, friendship, and help. The products are good to great quality (depending on how much you are willing to spend), and they sell no junk. To me this is unacceptable from his part as a retail manager who does that knowing that people come from other places, gas wasted, time wasted, just because he thinks it's a smart business tactic to keep drawing people in not knowing he already sold furniture some people came to see. After standing in a long line to check out, my cashier changed from one woman to another mid ring. Weird but it happens. I noticed my two pickups rang at $2.99 each and asked her about it. She said "oh. Blue tags are for members only." I suppose errantly assuming because I wear a bra I'm not a member? (I am one.) Then she checked and said the pickups were on blue tag last month and pointed to a display near check stand. I said "Thats funny because I picked up two of these back on aisle 6 end-cap BECAUSE they were on blue tag." I told her I'd go take a photo and did and came back and showed her my phone screen. She reiterated the sale was last month. I reiterated that the price was on display in their store in washington state. She finally called the manager and price was adjusted but this left a bad impression on me. She never said "sorry for the confusion" or even "you were right." I hate retailers (and restaurants ) who display one price then charge a higher one. I'm also not keen on assumptions made about me because of my sex.
